I'm only 14 but I'm definitely without fail home school my kids. Because I know my parents don't know half the stuff I face as a Christian at school and so awful stuff I learn from over hearing conversations. Swearing and dirty talk I really want to protect my future kids from that. I don't want to be the mum who only knows on side of their child's life.
That's one reason I like being homeschooled. I can hang out with my family and friends from church homeschooling groups things(co-ops I guess). Remember to stay strong and shine for Jesus!

Homeschooled K-12th, I also loved it! I wasn't one of those "super"-homeschoolers with all the activities, though... I usually felt inadequate compared to the types of things JG mentioned here! I really hope to homeschool my own kids someday, which sounds terrifying because I know firsthand how hard it is. (Also why is "homeschool" not recognized by spellcheck as a word??? We are not that much of an oddity in the world! :P )
I'm a homeschool mom, and I have to agree with your mom's reason for homeschooling (and one of your reasons that you liked it). I love spending time with my children, and I never want to miss a minute! I don't think I will get rid of my daughter either, but that's a good thing :) Thanks for sharing this!
I was homeschooled for my whole live with the exception of 5th grade, and I did online school for 10th- 12th grade. In those online school year I basically taught myself, but I had teachers i could email for help. I am in college now, but I loved being homeschooled. I wouldn't trade that time for anything. My mom and I are super close, and I am not a morning person so sleeping in a little every day was amazing! :)
I am a homeschooled Christian and I feel like I don't fit in anywhere. At church everything is like, oh did you hear that new Toby Mac song? Oh yeah it was so good! Then about five months ago I joined a gymnastics team and it was suddenly welcome to the real world! "Oh my gosh Justin Timberlake is so cute! Who doesn't love Ed Sheeran?" And I'm just saying "who?" that is like the story of my life outside of church but whatever. This one time they were showing me a picture of Justine Timberlake (Seriously though, who are these guys?!) but anyway he wasn't wearing a shirt and I said: "why does he have no shirt on?" to which they said "because he's hot." I am actually really glad I'm not that shallow when it comes to boys.

Hey I am also a Christian and homeschooled and I know how you feel. But tbh, I feel like school kids are brainwashed at school. I'd much rather stand out and be different for God than fit In if you get. Just wanted to encourage you that it's OK to be different x God bless x
Aww I laughed at the last part. Just stay true to who you are in christ. You're not missing out on much!! And it's okay to not keep up with the latest things. Be in tune with being around people and being an observer than joining the convo. Get comfortable with it and you'll be fine. Jesus will give you peace in those times to be okay with yourself in them xo
dude, when you posted this, I was at my homeschool co-op and was like "Jamie Grace just posted a video about homeschooling!" and one of the girls I'm friends with was like "wait, she was homeschooled? that's awesome!!" it was just a cool moment. oh yeah, in went to a homeschool prom. I didn't like it that much XD I'm an introvert
I unfortunately I hated being homeschooled lol! The only thing that I probably liked about it was the fact that you can work it around your interests like you said. I am an actress so it was nice being able to work on acting as much as I needed too. But I also hated being at home all the time. And unlike you, me and my mom do not get along at all, and I feel like its probably because I was around her too much growing up. I am 21 now, so I've been done for awhile, but if it were up to me I probably would have went to public or private school. And it has also affected college for me. I have not been able to attend college like a normal person, or like I wish I could, because I don't have the proper education that I need. By being homeschooled I was held back a lot.....But people were often surprised when I told them I was homeschooled, they say I don't look or act like a homeschooler lol. I just totally wrote you a book in your comments. Haha. Oops.
I wasn't homeschooled exactly but I did finish high school online full time. I'm doing college online this year too. I just like it, less anxiety and it's a lot easier on me. I like being responsible for myself... Just allows me to go as I want.
Ive been begging my mom for years to let me take online classes but she won't. But I am gonna take summer online classes so I can graduate early that was her compromise😂
Hannah Fehrenbach My parents were hesitant at first but when my grades bumped from Ds to As they were sold. Who knows maybe if she sees how great you're doing with the summer courses you could maybe switch to full time!
I'm also homeschooled, and I'm in seventh grade. It's fun because we get to do projects we wouldn't get to do normally, and I get to go to American Heritage Girls, which is a Christian form of girl scouts. And also because I can work on my AGSMs (American Girl stop motions) and take pictures of my dolls. NEVER TOO OLD FOR DOLLS!! (Sorry. I had to. :P)
I love being homeschooled, my mom has homeschooled all 8 of my siblings including me, but once we get to 6th grade we kinda just do our school by ourselves all the way up until we graduate. I play sports with a school in our county, and I have a lot of friends that are in the public school.

My husband and oldest son convinced me to try home schooling. So thankful we did. It provided a great opportunity for me to be a part of my older children's lives. We did co-ops and delight-directed studies as well. Loved it! It wasn't easy living on one income (I, too left an amazing career), but God provided. We also tried and enjoyed private Christian education. Now some of my kiddos are in public school and it had it's pluses and minuses. I wish we could have kept home schooling, but God's grace is sufficient. May all parents faithfully follow God's leading for their family in each season. Ah Jamie. You crack me up. I too was homeschooled. From 9th-12th grade. My mom took me out of public school when she noticed I was hanging around a not-so-good crowd of rebellion in middle school. I believe that it helped me realize God's love for me as I was in a downward spiral of depression and self loathing in middle school. Out of all the classes I had, I think Bible studies ended up being my favorite class looking back. I learned so much and after I gave my heart to Jesus FULLY when I was 15, I grew to appreciate what I was learning. Yes, it was hard, but I wouldn't change it. :) -Jessi
I I have been homeschooled for only 2 years but it feels like it's been a lot longer . I LOVE homeschool but my mom and dad are sending me back in to public school for at least 6-8 grade.I have mixed feeling I'm excited but nervous ,happy to make some new friends but sad to leave homeschool 😦 plz pray that I will do fine in public school God bless
I was in a Christian private school for 4 years then did homeschool for 3 years then went to public school for 2 years and now this is my 2nd year of being homeschooled again
I enjoyed being homeschooled when I was a kid ( about 8 years total). I never heard of the term co ops for homeschoolers, but I was a part of several large homeschooling groups who would meet together once a week for park days, field trips, or other extracurricular or academic activities. We even had a year book each year for our group. It was nice that many of us attended the same church as well, and definitely fun to grow up together. I think my favorite part of homeschooling was the freedom it gave. I had a lot more freetime than when I did attend schools, because I could get the school work done then move on to other adventures. If I ever have children it would be awesome to be blessed to be able to homeschool them, but I know that it doesn't always work out as an option. I did also enjoy attending private christian schools most of the years that I attended those. I think there are definitely pros an cons to different schooling options.
This is our second year of homeschooling. My kids are 9, 11, and 13. They love it and don't want to go back to public school life. The flexibility is wonderful and you can't beat one on one attention and teaching.
Homeschooling has changed my life!! I couldn't bear going to public school. I'm going into high school next fall & in my program this year we have been doing collage level logic! It is very challenging but is worth it in every way! It is such a blessing.
I was home schooled my entire life until I got to college as well. I'm about to graduate which is great, but I definitely miss home school!! I miss having time with my family and just at home being able to get homie things done while doing school. Now it's like I'm at school allll day and get home late, study all night, wake up early and do it all over again. I miss the home time. Homeschool built such a strong foundation for me as a person. It was a beautiful time of life (: I'm beyond blessed to have a mom who was dedicated to teach & I'm happy I got to gain so much knowledge during those years. It's cool that you were home schooled! What a great experience, especially with your music.
I'm homeschooled too!!!!!! I take ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and pointe dance class, horseback riding lessons, and I'm beginning to play the violin. I have a ton of siblings too, so I'm never alone!!! Jamie, you're even awesome-er to me now!!!!!!
I went to public and magnet school until the middle of ninth grade and now I am educated with an online homeschool from k12 and I love it so much more because I suffer from social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, major depression, adhd, and ibs, and it helps to not be around lots of people, triggers, and judgement, and to be able to work on a flexible schedule and to go to the bathroom whenever necessary. I think it is wonderful someone as amazing as you was homeschooled!
I've been homeschooled since kindergarten and now I'm a senior! I think that's so cool that's how it was for you, too! :) I love it and have loved it all these years. It's been a huge blessing in my life and I know it's definitely a privilege. :)
This is great! I've been homeschooled kindergarten through 12th grade too! We started out in NC then moved to the Houston, TX area and BOY, what a great place to be homeschooling! My mom was a big time accountant and I'm so glad that she valued spending time teaching me a biblical world view at home and allowing me to grow as an individual.I can identify with you about the independence factor as you get older as a homeschooler; I have always been a fast learner and studious in comprehension so I'd been essentially "teaching myself" since 7th or 8th grade. I also participated in NUMEROUS homeschool groups and co-ops and would typically take 2-3 classes a year at those places as well, so it wasn't ALL "at home" as most people think... ;)I also participated a lot in community theatre and sports programs, in addition to homeschool groups, which is where I made some of my friends.On the preparedness for lectures in college thing, I find that dual credit classes (where available and if you're mature enough for them) are a great way to transition to a full-time university. By taking 2-3 of those classes a semester for my junior and senior year, I was not only able to gain enough credits to complete one year of college, but that also allowed me to make my college schedule so that I could essentially "replace" those core classes with some prereqs I wanted to complete during my undergrad so I could get my Masters in Occupational Therapy. Meaning, I still went into college as a freshman, got my prereq classes done for OT school, and didn't have to extend my graduation time or do classes over the summer. Super neat, if you ask me! And I graduated high school at 17... ;)To answer your questions: I definitely plan on homeschooling my kids when I have some! I don't really think I would change anything about my homeschooling experience. My mom was superb at researching so we always had PLENTY of resources and groups and activities (I can't tell you how many different things I have done...!). I honestly am so thankful my mom gave me the opportunity to try so many things and then pursue the ones I wanted! For example, I'm not a super amazing singer, but I enjoy musical theatre very much and my mom allowed me to do that all through high school. Now in college, I know that God is leading me to do something else as a career, but I still audition and perform in shows in the community and on campus! Another not on my mom: even BEFORE we moved, she joined online homeschool groups in Houston and got 8-year-old-me a E-pal (like a pen pal, but through email)! That was very important to me because I hated leaving my friends but it really helped me settle into the new environment, so I'm very thankful that my mom did that, OTHERWISE, I might be saying that's what I would change about my homeschooling experience. ;)
Hi Jamie! Thanks for making this video. It was super encouraging to watch. The Lord kindly gave us the grace to homeschool our oldest K-12 with the help of co-op, a homeschool music school, private lessons, and even an online class through HSLDA Prep Academy. We are also grateful for the support of our local Christian homeschool support group. Currently we are still homeschooling our middle and youngest and the end is near with the high school years upon us. It's been a great journey, Glory to God!
Sweet story! Been homeschooled my whole life! I have taken classes here and there though. I dance and act so having the freedom to explore those artistic outlets is a blessing. My co op was a good place when I was younger but once I got older we quit. There was not a great outreach there for older kids and my parents already work at church(my dad is a pastor). Being in ministry at my church was a HUGE part of my life even when my dad was not preaching. Homeschooling let me grow spiritually and be guided by my parents that way. :)
Hey Jamie! Thanks for sharing this. I left my job three years ago, just to homeschool my son. Now I have another son, and he is also being homeschooled. I fully agree with your mother in addition to the fact that I am not in agreement with how the education system runs. (in general, not just in my country) Our daughter is still in 'the system', and I think she copes with it well, most times anyway. I have seen my elder son continuously blossom, and that's just wonderful. The younger is only 3, and he is way ahead of the status quo for his age. With homeschooling, the struggles are 'real', but the blessings CANNOT be surpassed. I do not regret my decision to start. :)

I'm homeschooled!!! And I love having Co-op classes. In my homeschool group UCHS we have a "prom" but we call it a banquet. It's super formal and you're not allowed to have a "date". We dance old fashion dances like the Virginia reel and all kinds of other ones. It's super fun! I love your videos, Jamie! You are awesome.
I went to a private christian school through 3rd grade, then was homeschooled through high school. We now homeshool our kids. Loved being homeschooled and LOVE being home with my kids as well!

Just graduated from being homeschooled!!!!! Class of 2016!!!!Btw, I'm not sure if every state offers this, but there are universities that offer dual-credit programs to homeschoolers while they're still in high school. I was 16 and still doing my normal school subjects while I attended two college classes. Like, I didn't graduate at 16 and I'm not even "super smart". The college that I went to only allowed high-school kids to take freshman-level courses, so it wouldn't be super hard for the kids. It was such a blessing to be able to know what college is like! I even made friends with lots of the college kids. Plus, it saved money and time because all my class credits that I got in high school transferred to my actual college that I'll be attending this year!!!! Like, it was such a blessing and an amazing experience! Any other home schooled kids who know about this opportunity? I don't know how many home schooled kids (or parents) actually know about it. I thought I'd put it out here. It's a great intro to college because it's not a full schedule. It makes it possible to balance normal schoolwork, with the college lectures! Luv you Jamie!! Homeschooled all the way through. I took my GED at 16 (Almost 17) to get done early, took a year to myself, and now I am in college. I am so blessed, and I thank God that my parents made that choice. If they hadn't I wouldn't have met my best friends. ;)

I cannot imagine my life without my little people masterminding by my side. They teach me so much, and love the homeschooling/worldschooling experience my husband and I provide. HOMESCHOOL! 12 years of homeschool for me. Glad to have the experiences, but also happy to be graduating in the spring haha. But overall, homeschooling is DA BOMB. And thank you, Jamie Grace, for really showing the world how nerdy and geeky us homeschoolers are. Nobody will find us to be normal now.... but that's okay because we were never really "normal" to begin with. ;)
My mom started homeschooling me in 5th grade and homeschooled me until I graduated high school! I also went on to college, got a degree, worked for a few years, and I'm now a stay at home mom! I am now in my second year of homeschooling my son (he's 7)! I loved being homeschooled, and I enjoy homeschooling my son!!

Growing up and being asked why I didn't go to regular school always bothered me because it made me feel different, but I wouldn't change any of it. I got to learn about Jesus while I did school and it definitely helped me learn self discipline which comes in handy for my college classes! all in all, I loved it and if I am blessed with kids of my own someday I would love to homeschool them!

My name is Mary Kate! I am 13 and have homeschooled my whole life. I love homeschooling SO much and will definitely homeschool my kids and encourage my friends to do the same. Like you said Jamie Grace, it gives the children no choice but to be close to their family. My friend is in public school and she is awkward around her parents. I was homeschooled, preschool through graduation. I only set foot inside a school once for my friend's band concert. In elementary school, I hated being homeschooled because I just wanted to be "normal" (what is normal anyway?). But once I got to middle school I realized homeschooling was awesome and I loved it. My friends who went to school were all drowning in homework and I'm just over here like, "I finished my school before lunch and sat in my room reading til it was time to go to swim team practice..." The one thing that I wish I had done differently was apply myself better in sixth grade. That was a really bad year for me, academically, because of my work ethic, and it made high school harder for me, even though it didn't affect middle school much. I didn't graduate two years early, but I did finish four months early. My mom made me wait til June for my official graduation though.
I love this! I was homeschooled all the way through high school and loved it. Everything you said was positive was true for me too. Now that I'm in college, I love the different school experience in the classroom, but I'm also thankful how homeschooling prepared me for it.
I'm both home schooled and public schooled. I get the best of both worlds. I go to the school building on Monday and Tuesday and then do school at home on Wednesday-Friday. Have really nice and fair teachers. Before I went this school I was homeschooled.
I was homeschooled all my life up until last year when I started college. I would agree with you on that disadvantage - for me it's the fact that I have to sit in lenghty lessons, or the same room all day, or just the fact that I'm there ALL day and mostly just sit still... I'm a bit of a fidget and I like to do practical stuff so find some of it really crazy-hard! :( but I think having been given so much freedom (like you, I was able to concentrate more on the subjects I was good at and enjoyed) in my work, I now can't help but do my best at assignments and get them in on time, whereas most of my class aren't really that bothered! It's so funny when people ask about socialising and then assume you get up whenever you feel like it and wear PJs all day... I hardly ever did that and I think they're just so funny!! :D I would definitely love to have the courage to teach my own kids at home one day...
I appreciate your take on homeschooling. I was a teacher for 10 years and decided to quit so I could home school my kids. It's been the best decision I could ever make. I really hope that both o my girls are as poised as you when they grow up.
I know this video is 3 years old but I just came to your channel through Shawn (though I’ve been a fan since You Lead). This is a topic I’m currently wrestling with. My husband and i have a two and a half year old son. I have been a Christian my whole life and personally went to public school. I got a great education but at a price. My insecurities were awful because of my peers (coupled with my sinful nature). I appreciate you genuinely and honestly going through your homeschool experience. I never thought I would consider it until I had my own kids (I also was an Algebra teacher at a public school until having my son). Now I see the benefits especially knowing first hand how public schools are leaning and teaching. Thank you for this video! 🙂
I have always wanted to be homeschooled for the exact reasons you said you loved it. I'm in public school and I think I'll have my kids learn in public school as well because of all the different types of people you meet and have to deal with and the different teachers and types of teaching you have to get used to and learn how to learn.
I was homeschooled from forth grade to senior year and I graduate in 2013. I went to 2 co-op schools and they were all right. I really didn't gain that social aspect until college. When I was homeschooled I became very independent and that just carried on with me until this day. Not only was I being taught basic schooling but also life management. I got so tired of being home one day that I walk into the mall and got a job. I liked homeschooling but I do wish that I would have had that social life. My mother also incorporated the Arts into my schooling because it was easier for me to learn that way. My schedule was Quite time first, School next, Break, and then I am out by 1pm. All around I like how you get to be the boss of the way you learn!!!
Love this! I'm a homeschooled aspiring actress and my mom is the same way with helping to intertwine my hobbies and passions into schoolwork and it's amazing! It's also allowed me to have a job with flexible hours and so much more! Thank you for being such an inspiration! ❤️☺

I love this video. I am currently in my first year of homeschooling my little girl. It is so encouraging to hear you say that you would homeschool your children.
I am a proud homeschooler. I am in a homeschool co-op. I am on a high school robotics team. I student mentor a junior high robotics team. I am heavily involved in theatre and performing arts. I take vocal lessons. I play guitar. I sing classically and operatically. My Mum has incorporated all of that into my schoolwork, and I get to do what I love for "work." I'm able to incorporate my vocal training into my everyday, because of our flexible schedule. I get to sit down at the piano three times a day and do vocal warmups. I get to skip history for a day so I can focus on a programming issue with my robotics team. I can finish my work by lunch, and go spend my afternoon at the square or at a coffee shop with my friends, making music and having fun. I love being homeschooled. Wouldn't change it for the world. (And yes. I go to formal dances. ;) )
Jamie thanks so much for sharing your story! I am also homeschooled (I'm in my last year) and have been from kindergarten all the way to my senior year. I'm glad to find someone else who loves it as well!
I go to two high schools at once! In the morning I go to the main school (Appleton West) where I take my core classes (math, science, health, German, etc) An in the afternoon I go to an awesome charter school called Renaissance School for the Arts (which is in the same building as my morning school ;) ) At RSA there are classes ranging from singer songwriter and steel drums to illustration, modern dance, photography and cinematography. There's literally so many awesome classes, but I stick mostly to music courses. I love both my schools and feel so blessed to actually look forward to waking up and going to school every morning (I had a terrible middle school experience). Before going to RSA I also had a short spurt of time at a Montessori school, which I loved. If I ever have kids I would love to homeschool them, as I always wanted to be homeschooled as a kid, but charter schools are pretty awesome too. ;)
I love homeschooled co ops! I'm actually homeschooled in the classical conversations organizations and that's how I found my homeschooled best friend! We've been friends for like five years :)
I am home schooled, finishing up sophomore year. The Co-op I attend is basically a combo of the social and educational that functions as a college. From late elementary kids are expected to get their homework done on time and well. I have 5-6 classes each year, 4 of which are core classes and one is computer skills (Microsoft products like word and power point). One of our teachers really stresses that her class room functions like a college auditorium. she gives lectures, tough writing assignments and lots of homework, kids that have gone through her class have said that it's harder than freshman and sophomore English classes in College. she's still my favorite teacher though

Your Mother was truly a blessing , I'm sure every kid needs that intimate time with their parents. It's hard trying to provide so much that by the time we get home to them we are so tired that we don't get to do much but get them ready for the next day .

I've homeschooled 4 years and been to public school and private school each for 3 years. I definitely love homeschooling in high school! The flexibility to be able to have a job is amazing. And I actually get to sleep! When I was at private school I didn't get much!! Definitely I struggle with scheduling and getting off task. right now I am 6 weeks "behind" where traditional school kids are at. But it teaches me responsibility. I know if I get behind it isn't anyone else's fault. It's mine! And I have to catch up. I definitely lovvvve the co-ops and small groups that I get to do! I go to a small group every week during the day with the most amazing group of friends! I am definitely not under-socialized! I had the opportunity to visit my local public high school and I immediately was so thankful for my mom and the opportunity to homeschool.
I was homeschooled all the way through too and I can't say I had the best experience with it, but I know it produced some good qualities in my life, like you said about being independent in college. I also would love to homeschool my kids if I could, I love teaching, so it is something I would love to do!
Homeschooled right here! I was private schooled in Kindergarten, public schooled in 1-5 grade and I'm in Junior High now (7th grade) and I started homeschool last year! I love being homeschooled, and I made some friends at public school, but I really only keep contact with two. :P And we see each other every Saturday, because of youth group! That's how I made my other friends, and now we hang out every Saturday after youth group! I haven't done any co-ops, but they sound fun! I might have to look into it! I'm glad my parents are putting me through homeschool now, I love it! I hear many things about the public schools that are near me, and I hear things that other kids are talking about. I am glad I'm protected by that type of talking and language, and I'll be sure to be praying for those kids.
I just finished homeschooling, but I was in a charter school before that so I had a difficult time, but you just encouraged me.I love your songs thanks so much Ms. Jamie :)
I homeschool my five children. My oldest two are going to public school this year (10th and 12th grades). I agree with your mom- I just want to have the most time with my children that I can. They are gifts from God! My husband and I take seriously the responsibility we've been given to raise them. (BTW, when my kids read what I wrote, they all went "Awww!!!!" :) )
I go to a public school filled with bullies who judge your every move! Totally wish I could be homeschooled. :P I'm with you when it comes to English class and Writing. I wish Eating Class was a thing...
