September 18, 2022 - Ultimate Club Duals Fall Championship at Nittany Valley Sports Centre in State College, PA Maya Alvarado {B} of Illinois Cornstars Black defeated Kara-lynn Dover {R} of WOW South by 14-5
I knew blue would win. She's calm, cool, and collected. No showboating. No wasted energy. Just there to get the job done. A true athlete and competitor.
Nah, the blond was just pumping her self up. No tricks there. The blond is a great wrestler. She lost and shook the other girls hand immediately. She is a class act. Your assessment is wrong. On a side note. My move was the headlock. To see the brunette throw it on and rock it like I did back in the day blew my mind. I almost want to cry. I went to states with the headlock alone. Anyway, GREAT GIRLS!
I had a few opponents (I grew up wrestling in Pa.) try that intimidation crap on me. They'd run to the center of the mat and take their stance as I just casually walked out to the center. Shook hands and I proceeded to take them down and eventually either pin them or tech fall.
@@jkotarsky Same, that headlock at the end was beautiful. Her leg drive, the commitment to the takedown. For the past couple days I've been rewatching it and there's nothing else to say except bravo. When I wrestled I was a big fan of using the headlock, head and arm, and the cradle. I'm tall and I was lanky back then so I used that body length to my advantage by spreading it like a spider or tying them up. I was never pinned, refuse to lose. But watching that takedown, what a work of art. Edit: looking back on it I think I lucked out with my school, our team was known real quick for using the snake. Lots of matches we won with it. But I didn't care for that move, sounds basic but I found incredible success just waiting for the right time to sink that headlock instead. As long as I didn't go over them, I could sit pretty on them while they struggled to get back a point. I think those were my best days. The pins I made. Even my losses. No sport teaches you about yourself as much as wrestling. Edit edit: I guess I forgot also to agree that the girl in red did nothing wrong. Excellent sportsmanship and tremendous effort. A cooler head won that match is all. Red really almost had it at the 3:00 mark, that spin. All she had to do was keep blue's legs from spinning herself, but instead blue was allowed to throw her momentum around to avoid the pin. You can't just expect the opponent to give up after all, you have to really prove it to them.
I'm a jiu jitsu teacher here in Brazil and I love Greco-Roman wrestling, and right at the beginning of the video I noticed the concentration of the girl in blue and it was clear that she would win !!🇩🇪🇧🇷🙋🏻♂️
My friend this is not Greco Roman wrestling this is free still wrestling in Greco Roman there is no woman championship. The difference is that in Greco Roman you need more power because you can only catch your opponent up from the waist and you can't use your foot to throw him down
@@johnmech5365 ... Thanks for the reply my friend. 🙏🏻 I know it's not Greco Romana what I meant is that I'm a fan of Greco Romana so I loved this style application in this excellent competition of this video ! 🇩🇪🇧🇷🙋🏻♂️
wow.. not even sure how i got to this video.. but what a match, i did wrestling when i was in high school, and it wasn't easy.. seeing these two girls reminded me of a few of my own matches. great job girls!
Man... I am so impressed by these two young ladies. Also, the red showed great sportsmanship at the end even after losing such a tough battle. Great job to both of these warriors. Much admiration and respect for them.
I will be searching more Maya content in the future, I hope she inspires more girls to take up wrestling. I am sharing these videos to my friends and family so that they encourage their kids to take up wrestling.
I disagree. She's a young girl. She's not supposed to be putting so much pressure on herself at that age. That goes for boys too. Children shouldn't be pressured; they should just have fun. Maybe wrestling isn't going to be her sport, but at least when she get's older, she can say she had a lot of fun doing it. Leave the pressure and intensity to the adults. Pressuring young children is not healthy for them. Win/lose, just have fun.
@@finzl Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. She shouldn't be putting pressure on herself. Nor should her parents or coaches. At that young an age, she should just be having fun. Win or lose. She was out there doing flips. That isn't wrestling. That's just having fun. I applaud her for just being goofy out there. There are also much younger girls in this tournament. Some of them look like they're 6 years old. Do you think those 6-year old's should be pressured to win?
The speed and the strength of the girl in blue was great, but I also enjoyed the girl in red's ability to change the dynamic at times. She definitely was trying to psych out her opponent in free time, but then I enjoyed that too. Fun to watch, for sure, the girl in red even if she does showboat a bit too much.
@@MayaAlvarado-ln9ty don't get discouraged by people saying you were bloating or whatever. This is not the olympics, if it were, im sure you wouldn't be doing flips, this is about learning from your mistakes and keep on improving, and always appreciate the process even in defeat. You almost had her pinned in 1st round, great fight and great sportsmanship.
Congrats to both of them! A very well played match. This is even better on review, having seen this and several other matches now. Maya's skill is amazing! At first I thought Kara-lynn was being a little cocky with her attitude, her aggressive stance and actions. I don't see other contenders do this. But I guess for some it is all part of the show. She wants to get a psychological advantage and on some opponents that may very well work sometimes (not today). I point out the part at 1:56 where she did the no-hand cartwheel not once but twice. She is athletic and wants her opponent to know this. Maya is more skilled and patient. She doesn't need to showboat. She overpowers her opponent and wins. But look at the end of the match when the referee declares Maya the victor. 6:59 Kara-lynn's attitude is now entirely different. She congratulates Maya and even comes over and gives her a hug. Such a generous admission of defeat is 180 degrees opposite of the display she was giving in the match. I really only appreciated this after having seen a bunch of other videos and no other defeated opponent was so cool about it, some even tried to walk off without the handshake or victory presentation.

Soon as the slapping started i started thinking "oh shes gonna have a hard time winning" and when the flips happened "ok this match is over". Love when a showboater gets smacked lol
It's so obvious from the start blue has complete control of herself and the match. She operated that like a surgeon. Edit: at 6:45 the look on her face is like, is the ref gonna call this already? can y'all see this? I've won. Make it official already. I like her style because it reminds me of mine when I wrestled. I did not shoot for the legs as much, I'm tall so there was a lot of distance to cover if I wanted to catch their feet. I preferred head and arm the most. The takedown and pin at the end is chef's kiss. If I was a sports article writer I'd put that shot at 6:51 right on the front page. No question. She's like "you seein this? you seein this? tell me I won already."
I like the little rivalry around fanning the combatants. The Blue girls have good humor about it! The girl in Red must be angling towards a future in WWE. As the villain.
Молодцы, но мне показалось что в синей джинсовке, очень спокойная ... не накручивала, не била себя по щекам ... и очень технично бросала ... молоцы, не знаю почему мне попалось это в рекомендациях, но посмотрел , лайк ...
Blue is so cool she doesn't need the fanning between rounds. She's ice cold from start to finish. I wonder what it's like to be so quietly hardcore in middle school. If were her age, in her homeroom, I would have already composed 6 or 7 heavy guitar riffs in my head to announce her entry.
Wow! Another bad-ass moment from Alvarado! I love that look on her face at the end, that "I got this in the freakin' bag" look. No non-sense, all business!
Girl in Red was not showboating, was just trying to psych out the other wrestler and showed more of a lack of confidence in herself. Give the girl in red credit, she showed great sportsmanship at the end of the match to which I was pleasantly surprised.
Don’t ever go out there and shake your opponents hand like that if you know you’re gonna get smoked. Or… don’t ever do it. Confidence also carries class with it
wtfff that pink girl crazyyyyy when shes on the ground and uses her neck as another limb... literally looks like its in angles thatll snap the neck but nope shes crazy flexible
Yes, I was watching vids when I happened on these female wrestlers/athletes. These two were great. Girl in red psyching herself out. And the one in blue calm and thinking, "Let's see what she's got." Great workout :)
At first I was asking myself judgmentally, “the hell is lil lady in red flipping the F around for?” But then I came to realization that at my age, I will never have that kind of physical ability and youthful natural energy again and you know what, why SHOULDN’T she? I get it now.
