Now it's time for our own love story, Mon and Maayan from Sweet Life Lanta.
In this video we tell you the story of how we fell in love and all the funny cultural differences that arised. Then we have a pillow talk in the bedroom and Mon is sharing an emotional story of his childhood.

Your growing up stories where so emotional for me, I also grew up with working and divorced parents where I couldn't receive nor witness the average affection and family warmth, so I'm pretty much like Mayaan thinking that marriage and relationships aren't meant to last for long, it's more like a fear to waste my time believing something that wouldn't prosper.. but you guys always remind me that positivity and good progress don't know an age. As a youngster I feel so rushed to achieve many things before 30, I don't see that slow pace of togetherness in human ships anymore. Naah I don't think I can hold on to find a great love like yours in half a year, yet I'll definitely keep searching, even if it's just within me. 🌸

Maayan....its decided. I love you guys. And i don't say that lightly. If you're ever wanting to come to the USA, you have a home in Rockland County, NY. My son is 4.5 and would love your kids. I think you're so amazing the way you know you to give your children pure motherly love, when i think you said you didn't grow up living with your mom. Im sure theres a lot of feelings that come up now that you're a mom, (at least that has happened to me) but you're doing a great job! You're absolutely right. Mon and I are dealing with lots of emotions being parents that we thought were all out of our system. But when we got kids we got slammed in the face with all these triggers and strong feelings! Now I think they were just in a forgotten old drawer somewhere being all stinky and having kids made the whole thing pop open again. But it's a good thing, now we have a chance to clear the smelly old drawer. We do it together so it helps. I hope you have someone to talk to. Big hugs ❤️❤️❤️

There are some parallels of your story with mine! I remember when I met my german wife in 2003, the first thing I told her was I am Muslim from 🇵🇸 -you know now with this flag the connection between you and me 🤣. She showed exactly the same reaction as you did 😄 For me what was important to base our marriage on is to agree to listen to each other attentively, humbly accept the arguments with open mind and heart, when it makes sense without any prejudices. The result of this agreement, apart of accepting islam five years later, a happy life, endless ❤ and the birth of our beautiful kids (they are in my profile picture) in 2019! I wish you the best of luck and happiness for you both and your family!

Hi Mayaan it’s so nice to see you went for what you love. I too come from a Jewish family. Religious. When I dated a diff culture I was threatened that I’ll be disowned. I broke it off for ppl that don’t even care about me or my feelings. Our family is not even close but everyone’s always worried about what the neighbors will think & say. I just live my life to make them happy when nothing I ever do is good enough. I wasted most of my years being single & broken hearted. There’s so much guilt that comes with religion. You can’t do this. You can’t wear that. You can only eat a certain diet otherwise who knows what will happen. And the programming is so powerful that if you veer you end up getting sick or weak and then all they can say is I told you God will punish you if you don’t do exactly as I say. It’s a vicious cycle that can feel like a prison. It’s nice to see you being so free with no worries and no guilt. Shavuah Tov!!

Wow your message is so powerful! I was actually raised without religion. Growing up in Israel, I remember being almost attacked by my fellow classmates when I was 10 and took my pita bread to school with cheese and ham during passover. My dad was with a Dutch non-jewish woman at that time, so I already knew that there was a whole world out there mixing dairy and meat and eating pork without a problem (the kids at my school said, if you eat that, you will get sick). Your story reminds me more of Mon's childhood in the strict Muslim village. Where all the rules and limitations have to do with your afterlife "account", guilt and what you do to your parents if you are "bad" (eat pork, not praying 5 times a day etc). I think we will do a video about religion soon. We just need to think about it carefully first. We do not have any intention of offending anyone but we do want to liberate those who are looking for freedom to be who they want to be without the guilt and the feeling they are bad.

Luckily his parents did not disown him, I believe eventually their love for him is stronger than the brainwash, but they did instill all the fear and guilt, probably because it is instilled in them, and they have no other choice than to continue the cycle like you said.

Too much of anything is bad, including too much religion. I am not Jewish, but have a Jewish belief system. My husband is a non-practicing Roman Catholic. When we were courting he asked me my religion. I told him, "I am not Christian because I do not believe the things one must believe to be Christian, but I believe in God". He replied, "As long as you believe in God." I asked him his opinion on Moses. He replied, "Very important. The Ten Commandments tell us how to live." That was the extent of our conversation on religion. He was a bit shocked when years later, I started taking our children to a Reform Synagogue Shabbat service from time to time. At one time I thought I would convert to Judaism, but now I do not consider this important as I feel God knows where my heart is.

I love your channel so much. Because you make me remember me, my own love story (I am French but was born in Tunisia from a Muslim father). My husband is Hindu Nepali and we have a kid... Love has no boundaries. Of course, there are cultural shocks and differences within every international families. But humans are good in adapting to new environments (yes we still are! It is in all of us). Again, love is beyond all this. That's what makes life so beautiful... 🥰
