Came up with some twist-villain!Dedf1sh level music. We don't yet know what to make of Acht and Marina's shared history, so I'm envisioning some kind of selfish grudge tempered by her own morbid curiosity.
The reason Dedf1sh allowed herself to be ensnared by Tartar was because of Acht's desire to hone her music-making craft, right? If this process took place after Marina heard the Calamari Inkantation, then those two events could be linked.
"If music can reformat the minds of a thousand soldiers and compel a dear friend to leave it all behind; to leave me behind... then what else can music do? How can I harness that power to my own ends? What if I could make the Inkantation my bitch?"
Acht Mizuta died down there, in the Deepsea Metro, thinking just that. And now Dedf1sh is left to carry on that will.

Oh using the ebb and flow demo in this was an incredible decision. The flattened out drums at the beginning just feel like a boss fight really beginning after an intro, and the fact that it is the ebb and flow demo makes such interesting feelings and implications.

The E10+ version would be making it "my beach." As in "life's a beach and then you dive." But sometimes you just gotta add that extra spice, y'know? (If I can somehow replicate the singing voices of Off The Hook, then this song will actually be the first part of a longer work I've got planned, in which Acht proves that she both _can_ and _will._ It'll be a longshot to produce tho. 😬)

this composition as a whole is great but the calamari inkantation and #19 bless mashed together are so cool… both songs are so grand and imposing and fit well together musically but the vibes they give off and lore behind them is so starkly opposite in tone so it feels almost menacing and hollow in this context . really clever and interesting choice there

*Hidden Power Station* _"Gotta catch em all!"_ Find and defeat all enemies in the time limit! Yes, i know this is meant to be side order, but I wanted to create a theoretical octo expansion scenario where this would fit better than #16 salty. Perhaps if side order was more station-based it could progress the story in some way, revealing something about either marina or dedf1sh, somewhat like the escape sequences in octo expansion and return of the mamalians?

This is super good! Like, REALLY super good! The bitcrushed sampling of the Calamari Inkantation sorta...makes it feel like it's a "fallen angel" version of the song, if you know what I'm saying? Like, on top of sounding warped and angelic at the same time, you can tell deep underneath it's the same song, but warped and twisted into something nearly unrecognizable from its former glory by way of its own hubris...and at the same time, it's like it's trying to futilely grasp back to what it once was when the song reaches its peak. In that way, it's sort of reflective of your version of Acht: she fell from glory because she "flew too close to the sun" in an attempt to master her craft, leading to her getting Sanitized, and now what remains of her is permanently distorted as a reminder of her own arrogance, as she tries to cling onto one of the last vestiges of her old life, that being Marina. I guess one could say these traits sort of also make it into Acht's BIG SHOT, if you stretch it! ...it also kind of reminds me of ENA's soundtrack, if that means anything.

2 things 1. This is actually dope as hell 2. Did you use a rip of a dog bus remix from Metaroom in the main melody of the song; if so you did a very good job with the mixing. It was place in seamlessly.

That I did, from the end of qwaston's mix. Additionally, elements are included from the sample pack that Metaroom uploaded to facilitate that remix contest in the first place (mainly the drum breaks and some ending stuff). I'm happy that the mixing turned out so well! Thanks! I was worried for a bit, since my composition professor pointed out that the sample didn't jive with the rest of the build-up, so I added some saturation and a subtle phaser to the left channel to de-emphasize the stereo in the right spots. Great to know that it worked out.

I cannot confirm or deny that there's a funny story behind that. The reference that may or may not be here used to be much more explicit. Moola and I frequent the same Discord server, and instead of asking "hey, may I borrow your melody for my song" like a regular person, Past Me sagely decided to dangle a pirate flag emoji in his face and go "ooh lookit me im stealing ur thang for my own malicious leitmotivic purposes uwu." He was very nonplussed at this. In any event, Moola Mixtape treats his compositions far more personally than I do, which is understandable. We reached the agreement that, if I _was_ going to copy his homework, to not do it word for word. Swapping a buncha notes around and filing the serial numbers off didn't take long. _Hypothetically._ Whether there's actually a reference here isn't something I can say one way or the other. 😉
