Have you ever done an overnight edit on location? Liked it? Hated it?

Great question man, I have done this before.

I've done a same-day edit on a wedding day as a solo-shooter lol. That was stressful. If I had done things like set up my Premiere Pro file ahead of time (timeline, sorted folders, etc.) it could've been way better. I "culled" my footage throughout the day by watching it back on the camera in down time and making a note on my phone about which filenames contained the best stuff. Overall, not a huge fan but definitely manageable with enough forethought.

Oliver thanks for the video and what you showed us along with teaching us about this condition. Honestly thanks for sharing your emotional state after hours with these individuals. To many people (especially man) don't show that compassionate side and even how filming this affects you. Years ago I was asked to photograph a police funeral and I have never even been to many funerals. I shot this from a documentary-style showcasing how all of the different police, fire, etc all came to support and it was overwhelming and powerful all at the same time. Capturing images of his wife and family as they said there good-byes was hard to shoot. After that day I shared these images with an older mentor and he was blown away at what I captured. He suggested that I put together a book for the wife and family showing all of the images I captured. I did that and was blown away by the fallen officer's captain as he called me and asked me to come and present this book and what it meant for me to capture it. I will just say it was a day of tears and lots of hugs. Not only did I do one book for the officer's wife, but also for the captain. I was told later that they have never, ever seen or heard of a photojournalist doing something like that. I was an experience I'll never forget. Sorry for this long message but this video really got me caught up in your emotion and then had me remembering my story I documented. Again great work and thanks for sharing

Wow...I'm grateful for the raw emotion and truth you put in this project. You really created perspective for the simple joys of life that myself and many others take for granted on a daily basis. I can't make it through without tearing up, my heart goes out to the beautifully strong young people and their families.

Incredible video. Would you mind expanding a little bit on your love for the 17-55 EF-S? I have a C100 M2 as well and I primarily shoot with the 24-105L, and I'm in need to go a bit wider because of the crop factor. Any way you could compare the 17-55 and the 16-35 2.8L other than the obvious $1,000 price difference? What makes you love that 17-55 so much?!
@OliverJHughes

Yeah man - for me I just love both 17mm and 55mm - I used to always roll run n gun with the 35 f2, but I started to hate that focal length - never close enough or wide enough. And with the 17-55, I get the best of both worlds, and for most of my work, I don't need epic bokeh, so that's cool too at 2.8
