Bermuda Triangle- got the joke. The video was well done! Even the puns. A good mix of history, local culture, and sightseeing. I've cruised to Bermuda 3 times. Going back next May to see more of St. Georges and to see the Crystal Caves again.
that's it's real name though, "Bermuda triangle" 3 rums He's not drinking the swizzle anymore. What I miss is a good LOBSTER dish and a FRUIT PUNCH … but not as much as the cooking by the women in my family
I went to Bermuda back in late November 1991. My dad was in the Royal Navy so had links with the RAF. He managed to get me a flight on an RAF Lockheed Tristar for the mere sum of £25! The food on the aircraft was top notch and I had a bank of 3 seats over the wing all to myself. I was even invited into the cockpit mid-flight. The sound of those RB211 engines was to die for. Sadly the trip was a weekend arrangement so never got to explore much of Bermuda. I am now nearly 40 and would love to take my girlfriend (the woman I want to marry) there for a week to explore the island(s) in full but the cost is putting me off.
Bermuda lies just one thousand kilometres off the American mainland. The Spanish seafarers who were stranded here on the coral reefs, referred to them as "Devilish Islands". This didn't stop the British, who decided to add the group of islands to the British crown. To this day, the "British way of life" is celebrated. The locals, resplendent in shorts and kneehigh socks and with military honours, celebrate the Queen's birthday, fight for the survival of an already, ostensibly extinct bird species, cultivate vegetables in communal gardens and get their drinking water form their roofs.
The Cahow, it’s a type of petrol bird and it was thought to be extinct. However now there is an islet that’s been converted into a nature reserve to protect it.
13:30 John James Randolf Adolphus Mills, known as Johnny Barnes, was a Bermudian native found waving to passing traffic at the Foot of the Lane roundabout in Hamilton, Bermuda, from roughly 3:45 am to 10 am, every workday, rain or shine. Born: 23 June 1923, Bermuda Died: 9 July 2016, Paget Parish, Bermuda Movies: Welcoming Arms Source: Wikipedia
I visited Bermuda with my wife and her sister-in-law in April 2015 .We took a 7 day cruise from New York on the Norwegian Breakaway, a magnificent ship which docked for 3 days at the King's Wharf . From there we took a ferry ride to Hamilton where we met with retired Bishop Evan Ratteray. We had met him previously at St.John's Church, Hamilton when he was Vicar there in 1985 . We also visited Holy Trinity Cathedral. The island depends on tourism due to its beautiful beaches and interesting traditions. We would like to visit again, hopefully after life returns to normal after the Corona Pandemic is controlled.
This was very informative! Thank you! I loved the history lesson about John Lennon writing his last album there before passing away 2weeks after it was released.
this guy knows more Bermudian history than me … and probably a lot of other Bermudians who are watching. Do they even still TEACH Bermy history in class?
filmed on a smoggy day. That is NOT pollution. It's a low sitting clown. Bermuda's air quality is top notch. So all that "smog" in the background has to be a low cloud, not air pollution
Hay Simon, I was thinking of going to Gibraltar this year, we’re not flushed unfortunately, do you know of any good hotels and an all inclusive package holiday there. Would so love to here from you on this ☺️
This Simon Calder bloke seems nice enough but he forever gets all in to tv and radio programs and gives a load of useless information that you can find on the net...I know they call him a expert travel writer...and he writes a column in a newspaper but for all he writes he tells folks things after they found out themselves...example all those folks who can’t get their money back from their holiday booking agents...all those folks that get stranded abroad..he always comes and gives useless information after the horse has bolted..
This is wonderful I am interested to travel from Jordan to Bermuda as investor. Wishing to find trustful person to advice me How to start my business to get my permeant resident
22:00 i am surprised after the American claimed independence from Brittain in the late 18th Century that they never enterprised upon themselves to take over Bermuda eventually.
13:29 … isn't Johnny Barnes dead now? Think I heard that. wow. I remember this man when I was in HIGHCHOOL going to Warwick Secondary. That was the mid 80s, waving and blowing kissing, telling everyone that he loves us, wishing us a good day. wow
My wife and I are looking forward to visiting Bermuda next week part of our Viking Cruise from New York around Bermuda and The West Indies. So excited! 🥳🤹♀️👍
