Just completed The Herriot Way in 4 days of beautiful weather… tried the electrolyte tablets & they’re a game changer … thanks for the great advice. You must have going for it in 2 days Andy .. never seen a sign on the route luckily I use kamoot.
I did that walk last year after seeing Haze's video. I took it steady with three night's camping. Loved it. I remember loads of signs about keeping to the paths everywhere.
Great vid Andy. You made that look like a sprint, though from your opening shot (back at the van after the walk) it was anything but! Looking forward to the next one.
great to here a barsley lad out on the tiles have look at e 5 or 6 in austria you love the mountain passes and the glacier circiles of zell me zeller and kaprun my second home
Absolute belter this one Andrew. Really enjoyed it. I have done a lot of cycling around where you walked and walking too. Some very interesting places. Just looked at that Rab down jacket you have and they've discontinued it! GUTTED. What's the Rab jacket you're walking in? Thanks again.
One always thinks i should have a big pot of tea and a massive Victoria sponge real cream cake whilst watching your Yorkshire dales films . Mm cake😊 🫵✊️👍🏼😊
Great video Andy. I personally prefer the Nuun electrolyte tabs because they don’t contain artificial sweeteners but the SIS ones are superb too. I never go anywhere without them.
Chuffing ell Andrew that wo a rate yomp lad hope thas aleet cos it Luks like thi wo Carrie-in a bit of a limp….anyways that is a stinking route…well done lad. Apart from the main body of ur video I luvd listening to background noises streams wind and the sound of papwinks in the background. Keep posting Andrew. Love this channel. Tel care n Bessies …Ron
cheers ron i had a little bit of a stiff hip at one bit my hip flexors tighten some times..its great to listen to the sound of nature whilst on these walks one of many reasons theyre so relaxing.
@@AndrewBeavers so long as your OK...I'm so looking forward to your WHW Post I've been following your progress on twitter and was thinking that your inner self would have loved to have bagged some of those Munroes around the route ..maybe for another time? Take care...Ron
Wow 🎉 great walk that was, what is with the long walks at mo are u planning a big walk soon Nice to see u back been a long time as u said but great video always interesting
Well done Andy another great video and a PB mileage wise. Though you couldn’t get a signal when at camp couldn’t you get the weather on your Zoleo? (That’s if you had it of course) regards ATB
Great walk Andy really challenged yourself to complete in two days, guessing the second day you were walking on empty as it's very hard to get the calorie intake. Bet you were starving at the end
Good job Andy I really enjoyed that. I’ve been thinking of walking the HW this summer so I was all the more interested in watching this one. I’m not intending to attempt this walk in 2 days as I hope the include a few stop overs and take my time. Out of interest what was your impression of the HW; would you recommend it to other hikers? Thanks for your efforts.
What a trek! Fab test and training for the WHW…brilliant watch, nice tent that 😉 nice lightweight kit, not a burden to carry…inspiring as always! BW, Sarah
thanks sarah yeah not ultra light will never be that but good to get a lighter pack on the back for sure..theres some things i wont compromise on for a comfortable camp.
Great walk Andy, certainly more miles than I'm able to cover these days. I've kipped in that exact same spot twice with my lad. The last time was during the beast from the east storms and it was a cracking trip, although I struggled with the gear due to lack of fitness. Banshee 300 did us proud in the driving snow up there.
never used them they take too much looking after re cleaning plus the added weight youre carrying..much easier to carry a filter & couple 600ml bottles & top up along route..thats just my way not everyone will agree or do same but we do what works for ourselves.
Hi Andrew,I did the Herriot Way about 3 yrs ago with 3 mates, although we did it over 5 days your video & commentary brought back some great memories, thanks for taking us along, atb mate,Colin P.👍
Good insight for the walk that Andy, re. farmers, back in the day some were absolute swines, I think its miles better than it used to be though, I love the Dales, but I've said in the past, it's all worked, you can feel absolutely in the middle of nowhere and somebody'll pop up from nowhere. Just don't be a bird of prey up there 😢 TFS, David Oh and that was an epic effort, I know how you must have felt 😂
Just completed the HW yesterday. We ended up walking about 52 miles over four days with each day being 12 to miles. We stayed in B&Bs in Hawes, Keld and Reeth. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this trail; it has a bit of everything. There aren’t any way markers so you need to be careful (especially if you don’t have access to the trail on your phone). I enjoyed it much more than some of the more famous longer trails I’ve completed. Thanks for the inspiration Andy 👍
one of issues i had with it was the lack of waymarkers especially as you're passing through agricultural land & some farmers will take offence if you stray from marked paths etc.
@@AndrewBeavers thankfully we didn’t have any issues with farmers. Interestingly I had a good chat with B&B owners and they told me they had plenty of walkers staying who were doing the HW ( much more than the PW). I think it’s a more popular walk than I realised and we chatted to various nationalities who were walking it.
You certainly crunched some miles there Andy. Great video mate. The scenery was stunning and the weather was good on the whole. A hike that is on my list. Looking forward to your next adventure. John.
Thanks for the advice on the electrolyte tablets. As I get older, cramping is becoming an increasing problem especially at the end of longer hikes. Popped into a local chemist only today and bought a pack.
Great walk there, can't beat a bit of history either, we have it far too easy these days. One item I've started taking on longer walks along with hydration tabs is protein powder, makes for a nice flavoured drink too.
Great video again mate. Think great shunner fell and Gunnerside is now on my to do list. Interesting that you didn't carry the Zoleo on this one and found yourself camping without signal and no way to get weather 🤔 I remember the video you did on the zoleo,do you not rate it? Great to see you back out.
had the zoleo i carry it on every outing..it was clipped to the rear of my pack..unfortunately to get weather info it needs to use data to achieve that info so with no signal at gunnerside i was unable to get any weather info..the messaging service uses satellite so i could still use that to message home.
Great vid Andy..some great views of Yorkshire and a rate good yomp you've got in their lad. Have you ever done the full penine way mate ? Van looks good , bet its gen ya a lot more options now. Cheers for a crackin viewing.👍👍👍
