48hrs Exploring the Cambrian Mountains and The Elan Valley - Part Two

This is Part Two of my trip to the Cambrian Mountains. After climbing Drygarn Fawr and spending the night in a Bronze Age Cairn on my first night night in the Cambrians, I then headed to the Elan Valley for a day of hiking and exploring. An afternoon of thunder caused me to cancel my original plan of camping at Garreg-ddu Reservoir, and I ended up camping at Caban-coch instead - it worked out for the better though as I spent the night in a beautiful location that I stumbled upon.
Thanks for stopping by,
Ryan.

Been looking forward to this for days and boy it did not disappoint.Toby is obviously the star but Ryan you make a very good wingman 😊 Would be very interested in your route for the whole of the trip - do you os map it? As ever great filming and as others have mentioned your give a very calming/relaxing vibe to your trips... I am under no wonder why your subs are moving up the ladder quickly . As for more adventures up that way I look forward to the locations you will explore - namely because I want to explore the area I think you are going to end up... atb Al

Great video as always, the pop up arrived and had to stop work to watch! My dogs always very wary of cows as well, I always try and avoid or even walk back, but if we have to walk thru then the dogs will always outrun the cows so best advice there. Bet the water was chilly 😂 but always good to be in a beautiful location and not surrounded by hordes of people!
@wildaboutwales
@wildaboutwales 3 месяца назад
Thank you, Chris. I'm not too bothered about cows, but we've been charged a few times in the past so I always tread cautiously around them. The water was a little cold, but a nice treat after a day in the sun. Thanks for watching, ATB, Ryan.

Lovely bit of scenery up Elan Valley, mate. I've driven through there a handful of times and never fails to impress. Poor Toby being intimidated by the cows, 😂, god love him! My dogs would've run amok amongst them! Terriers! Fair do's for camping out in that Bronze age cairn, tried something similar in the Preselis and tapped out because it was haunted!! Trying to get a few mates to do a kayak camp around Pembrokeshire this summer and if you're anyway inclined you would be more than welcome to join us. It's looking pretty good at the moment with planning, looking at late August when everyone is back from holiday. Always enjoy your content, mate, take care and i'll see you on the next one👍👍

A really good outing Ryan-I could see where you were the moment you entered the village. The Wye Valley. Nice one. No water in the village but if you look close at your footage you'll see a 4,000 year old standing stone in that church. Well, a fantastic pitch and dip in the res. Nothing better than immersing oneself so closely with the tumbling waters in the stream there. I agree Pumlumon is great as is the Wye. I've hiked every single river of the Wye system from source - 700 miles. For sure the region is cracking. Well good going-great to see the area again. Mark
@wildaboutwales
@wildaboutwales 3 месяца назад
Thank you, Mark. I knew you were passionate about the rivers in this area and you'd walked a lot of them, but I didn't realise you've covered that much distance - that's pretty impressive! It's a beautiful area and a great place to explore. I'll take a look at the standing stone on one of my next visits, thanks for the heads up. ATB, Ryan.

@@wildaboutwales A pleasure Ryan - yeah we are waterlings mate-70% of it at least. It's why we gravitate to water and our rivers are important. That's right 20 rivers and 700 glorious miles - you know what I mean. For sure the stone is right out the door of the church - it's really far out. Peace
