there is no bigger joke than those who imposed emergency, amended constitution over 80 times (starting with Nehru over freedom of speech), dismissal of state government whenever they wanted (starting with Nehru's dismissal of first non congress government in Kerala in 1956), today talking about protection of constitution. Today's anniversary is the best given that one dynast took office today and another dynasty would be contesting in kerala.

Shekhar Gupta claims that Print Media is unhyphenated. Because of his " truth", I took subscription of Rs. 12500/ for two and a half years. Over the years, I heard him and Jyoti Malhotra. I got the sense that the Print media was partial and not unhyphenated. His truth turned into falsehood. I stopped subscription and replied to his email that he was wrong about his media.

The other, brighter side of the Emergency can’t be ignored. Trains always ran terribly late earlier. For the first time trains ran on time. Corrupt officials were shown the door and sent home straight. These were matters widely acknowledged then. I was of 26 years then and witnessed emergency events first hand. But I am and always was an ardent critic of emergency. Still, there is no reason to recall emergency as the starting point of the functioning of the new parliament.

Mr. Gupta you conveniently forgot DMk and Karunanidhi. JP was invited as a state guest, freely conducted rallies all over TN. TN was an asylum for open leaders, helped swamy and Fernandez to escape and the present CM Stalin was in jail, brutally attacked. Hundreds of DMK cadres were arrested and tortured in cells. Finally DMK ministry was dismissed.

Though I used to follow the emergency period through the newspapers, this discourse under the head university of democracy has put the events in chronological order which made me remember in an orderely manner Your revealing the story of the plack mole in our democracy is a very good lesson for the startups in politics.

RSS Chief Balasaheb Deoras has apologized to Indira Gandhi for protesting against Emergency and wrote 2 letters to her. He promised full cooperation to Indira if released from jail. ofcourse indira did not trust him and hence did not release him. okay Congress should be condemned for emergency, by the way BJP also must also be condemned for Deoras' promise of support for emergency.
