I'm a little late to the party. I bought this model last week and now I'm trying to understand the micro adjustment. I read a few reviews on Amazon and some people had trouble with this feature. One person said he returned three of these routers because the micro adjustment was defective. I started thinking the same thing when mine started clicking but I then realized you need to back way off the wheel because that clicking is the end of the adjustment range. It seems to work just fine for me. Yes, I'm glad I still have strong fingers. Anyway, I'm getting ready to do some bowtie/butterfly inlays in wooden bowls. From all the reviews I read, it was either this colt or the Dewalt. I snagged this colt for $107 on Amazon so that helped me decide. Thank you for going through the router's features.

My pleasure, Greg! I personally prefer the Dewalt, but it's kind of likee Ford vs. Chevy. Everyone has their own preference. If you have any future questions, you can always email me (Ryan) at ryan@makeawoodsign.com

Hehe, don’t worry about the I/O switch, it’s counterintuitive to many. I think it’s a reference to binary, 1 = on, 0 = off. Thanks for the review!

This is the router that I use for carving. I don’t use the micro adjustment. And I agree the height adjustment is a bit over engineered and cumbersome. But I have gotten use to it. The lights are great but I still use lights on my cheaters. I always unplug it when not in use, I don’t want them to burn out too quick.

The Dewalt DW611 does have soft start but ramps up a little faster. Both having a 7 amp rating means the Dewalt DW611 running at a slower rpm with the same amperage rating will have more torque to swing larger bits and more aggressive cuts. The switch label stands for the circuit being energized. I = in, O = out. O doesn't mean on.

My Dewalt 611 stopped working three months after I bought it, changed the brushes and that didn’t fix it so I bought this one. We’ll see how it works out.

What I have found out is on the micro adjustment, I start turning it first so I know it's fitting right onto the threads right and then as I turn it I tighten it, and it moves a lot easier it doesn't seem like it's cross threading and it moves a lot easier.

Thanks for the review. I'll stick with the dwp 611. I also have the rigid and absolutely hate the depth adjustment. That's what I get for being a tight ass. The best thing about the rigid is the on off switch. I have a ways to catch up with You, I have 2 611"s and the rigid. I keep a profile bit in the rigid so I don't have to adjust much.

I know you make things, so here is an idea to make you some money (and me happy). Make a dust collection port for that Bosch router so I can hook it up to my dust collection port. It's the only tool I have that doesn't have dust fittings

@@oldave100 I have googled an TONS of people have looked for them. The only way to dust collect with a palm router is to make one for edge forming, but if you could invent a universal edge forming palm/trim router dust portal, you would certainly sell them
