Thanks men. All great albums imo. But the Donati is just ridiculously good. Incredible musicians and compositions. Blistering, heavy, menacing, but beautiful at times. My favorite from this episode. Luis sums it up eloquently as usual. Keep up the great work!

Great topic idea! The analogy to Satriani and Vai for the Aristocrats is bang on Pete. Loved seeing these guys live, incredible players. Totally agree it's hard to rank for sure! 1. Virgil Donati 2. The Aristocrats 3. Special Providence 4. KBB (tough putting them at the bottom, I hadn't heard them before and I am impressed !) Great seeing the 4 of you together tackling this topic and having Luis back on.

Another great episode? To me, this is a new genre of music evolving right before our eyes... the prog/fusion genre.

My ranking- The Aristocrats- Duck Virgil Donati- In My Life KBB- Proof Of Concept Special Providence- Soul Alert As far as the new releases go, I'm listening to that Daniel Weiss album as I type this and man!!! This one really smokes!! Great show guys!!

Great picks , all good albums and for me Donati gets the win . In This Life is a personal favorite .

I had a no 4 for ten straight days/however after 2-3 more spins today my no 4 became my no 2, and who knows with more spins maybe one day no 1. I guess my old age caught up with me. Normally, lack of guitar 🎸 is a no- no for me, on this particular album the violin 🎻 today hit me differently ( gots the olds lol). Anyway, gave these many , many spins / my novice ears 👂 for today anyway. 1- The ARISTOCRATS 2-( surprised me ) KBB. 3- Special PROVIDENCE 4- Virgil DONATI- Probably the only one with this order, however, no wrong answer. Thanks Pete/ GEORGE/ Eric & Luis. 👍💯

Always late to the party. Here are mine... 1) The Aristocrats - Duck This one I've had the most time with so...not fusion though. 2) KBB - Proof of Concept This sounded the most like fusion to me. Loved the violin. 3) Virgil Donati - In This Life I liked it but I think I need more time w it. Not sure what to call it. 4) Special Providence - Soul Alert Surprised me. Seems more of a club dance album

As I hear them: 4. Special Providence - "Soul Alert" 3. Virgil Donati - "In this Life" 2. The Aristocrats - "Duck" 1. KBB - "Proof of Concept"

The next new Mark Lettieri album is being released on July 19. I say "next new" because he did also just release a new live album last month which is fukken great! You should check that one out too.

In this life is an underrated masterpiece.Ruination, his next record is almost as good. Love the KBB album.

4. KBB. Also, sounds more prog than fusion to me. 3. Special Providence-to me, a large helping of funk here. It’s a fusion of rock with some other styles but I don’t hear much jazzy influence. 2. Aristocrats-there’s a bit of jazz and swing here, and these guys can play jazz….it has some prob elements, I guess-an instrumental concept album has to at least top it’s hat to Prog. Have not heard that Donati album, so….
