It was my first Exhumed Fest. Sorry I didn’t get to say hello to Craig and Pete but it was cool to meet Chris in person! I arrived a little late so I found a spot in the balcony. It was actually really cool to hear the projector running behind me. Several of them were first views Peeping Tom included. One thing that struck me were some similarities between that character ” and Francis Dolarhyde (Manhunter / Red Dragon)
It sounds like you guys had a great time. My work schedule keeps me from going to cons. Last con I went to was in 89 or 90 and Christopher Lee and Michael Ripper were among the guests. Lee signed his book for me and a host of others that stood in line. Its great to see movies like this on the big screen like intended. Watching you guys is like hanging out with old friends who dig the same things. Its not out yet but I just ordered the restored "INVADERS FROM MARS" from Ignite films. That one gave me nightmares as a kid!
Hey Craig, we had a screening of Nosferatu with a live organist here in Montreal a few weeks ago. It was in an old church and it was packed ! They also ran The Cabinet of Dr Caligari with live musicians. A great night.
Awesome show! I wish we had something like that where I live. I did go see more horror movies at the theater this October than I ever have before with Halloween Ends, Terrifier 2, Barbarian and Smile.
Hey Jamie, the "cool" ending, where you find she never left the cave, is the UK theatrical cut. That extra bit on the ending was trimmed for the US theatrical cut. We saw the US cut.
Michael Powell was so ahead of his time as the director of excellent films like 'The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp' and 'A Matter of Life and Death'. It's a shame that 'Peeping Tom,' which is today considered a masterpiece, pretty much killed his career. They just weren't ready for the slashers yet!
These always sound fun, but I wonder if I'd be disappointed at having seen so many of them before (10 out of 15 this time). "Peeping Tom" and "Repulsion" are classics, but not sure about showing them both at the same marathon. For my unseen ones, "Panic," "The Church," and "Supernatural" have been added to The List! Aren't you supposed to stay awake for the whole marathon, though? I feel godawful after taking naps, so I definitely couldn't do that.
Luckily you can come and go as you please during the whole fest. I’m sure some stayed awake the whole time, but I sure can’t! Plus we all saw Maiden in NJ the night before so we were already tired when the Horrorthon started.
The two Panic co-stars David Warbeck and Janet Agren would co-star again later in 1988's Ratman, which is a quite terrible movie but I have to say I quite like Panic.
