I was in the U.S. Air Force when in 1983 and 1985, I was was TDY (temporary duty) to Aviano AB in Italy...both times, the Frecce Tricolori would practice above the airfield...I had seen the USAF Thunderbirds fly, but this was different...these Italians were insane!!!! They did crazy and dangerous stunts like the "Downward Inversion" (like the Thunderbirds "Upward Inversion", but heading toward the ground instead of up)...I heard that after the huge accident in 1988 in Germany that they didn't do some of they stunts they did before...but they are still one of the greatest!!!!!

The downward inversion, or, as we call it, the "bomba" is still one of the Frecce's signature maneuvers, although during some airshows like RIAT they don't perform it due to the big crowd all around the airport that makes it impossible to respect the safety distances. No maneuvers were totally removed after the crash in 1988, but some modifications were made to ensure safety. Minimum altitude and distance from the public were also increased. Some maneuvers anyway have been replaced with others, for example the maneuver at 10:21, that was added in 2015 and replaced another maneuver.
They still do a practice session over the Aviano base every year (usually in late March or first half of April), and no, they didn't change their program after Ramstein, in fact there were just few changes over the last 40 years. The stunt you're talking about is probably "the bomb", the best part of it being the final one with each airplane coming from every direction converging to a central point, and, well, after Ramstein and other crashes around the world, planes don't fly over spectators anymore but... being right at the center of that meeting point, during the Aviano air show I think in 1985 or 1986, still is one of my best childhood memories! I simply didn't know where to look or which plane to follow! I already saw that a lot of times, but I was never in a sooooo perfect position to truly enjoy it at its best...It was simply amazing.

Es war mir schon im vergangenen Jahr aufgefallen dass die Frecce Tricolori einen neuen Sprecher haben, Und nicht nur einen Sondern auch eine Sprecherin. Als ich dieses Jahr in Fairford war freute ich mich sehr darüber dass das Wetter so toll mitgespielt hat, Und die Frecce Tricolori ihr volles Programm durchziehen konnte. Vor 2 Jahren nämlich 2016 da mussten sie am Samstag das Rolling Display fliegen wegen der Niedrigen Wolkendecke. Am Sonntag hatten sie dann mehr Glück und haben bei fast Wolkenlosem Himmel den Programmabschluss mit dem Vollen Programm gemacht, Das war sehr toll gewesen. Ich wünsche dir noch einen schönen Abend Liebste Grüße!
