Vielen Dank!
Yes Ed. After 45 years in service the Czech Air Force has decommissioned its entire fleet of 15 Mi-24V and the newer Mi-35 helicopters (they were deliverd 2003 from Russia) at the end of last year, 2023. It is also planned to retire all remaining Czech AF Mi-17/171Sh transport helicopters soon. The Mi-24V/35 and Mi-17/171Sh fleet will be replaced by a total of 20 AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom helicopters of the American company Bell Flight this year. It was originally planned that the Czech Air Force's oldest Mi-17s, acquired in 1994/95, could be in service until 2030 and the Mi-24V/35 until 2045, if they were maintained and released by Mil Helicopters in Moscow. However, due to sanctions against Russia, spare parts for the Mi-24/35 have become increasingly difficult to obtain and the Czech Air Force has had to look for new options. It is expected that all the helicopters will be donated to Ukraine after they are decommissioned.
