Jas 39 gripen is The best fighter jet, im swedish, and did my militery service in the swedish airforce, in the middle of The 1980 then we had Ja37 viggen and J 35 Draken, both is plane from Saab, they vere Great to but Jas 39 gripen is the best!
Tremendous show of force in the horizontal plane. Amongst the tightest horizontal turns in the business if not the tightest of them all. But still lacking in the vertical plane. All Grippen displays have to date, in my opinion, avoided the vertical plane as much as possible. A shame!!!!, as even the good Ole F-16 start making big money out of the vertical. Overall, very well shot displays Knight Flight.
@Nick Emerson, I'm gonna put it this way Grippen has a low wing loading and a beautiful roll rate. It lags well behind the rest in terms of thrust/ weight ratio. This Grippen display has dared to go into the vertical about three times in boring conventional loops/ half Cuban eights despite an imposing set of well- sized canard surfaces. And it was a good enough day for all to see those ventures into the heights. It's a trait most if not all Grippen displays regardless nationality start sharing.
@James Van Allen seeing all F-16 fanclub boys here...I was also about to post the same STR/ ITR graphical data Guys...F-16 is an older airframe n Delta wing design will alwz hv manoeuverablity edge over swept wing design (Raptor has other factors in play)
The whole Genaration topic is a problematic one as there is no internationally agreed apon definition. It's a marketing term more than anything else where companies have tried to trademark 5th generation so that no other company can use it.
