On December 4th, we decided to dedicate a day chasing a couple steam locomotives pulling excursions through south-central Michigan. First was the North Pole Express pulled by Pere Marquette 1225. This year, however, was a little different. First off, this is the first year I decided to be one with the foamers and chase the 1225. You may also notice the F40PH on the other end of the train too. This was a special addition for the year as Great Lakes Central didn't have any extra locomotives to lease out to the Steam Railroading Institute for the North Pole Express. This, coupled with the fact that this was the first excursion service she was pulling since 2019, attracted many people. After we chased 1225, we decided stop at the Huckleberry Railroad for a short while to get a few shots of their Christmas excursions. In contrast to the North Pole Express, this train was decked out in lights and passed multiple light shows set up along the tracks. Overall, a very successful and interesting day.
This is also my first video with my new camera. In contrast to my previous camera which could only shoot up to 1080p, this beast can shoot up to 4K. The file sizes that come with the 4K are absolutely massive, so let me know if you guys think it's worth it.
