On December 4th, we decided to dedicate a day chasing a couple steam locomotives pulling excursions through south-central Michigan. First was the North Pole Express pulled by Pere Marquette 1225. This year, however, was a little different. First off, this is the first year I decided to be one with the foamers and chase the 1225. You may also notice the F40PH on the other end of the train too. This was a special addition for the year as Great Lakes Central didn't have any extra locomotives to lease out to the Steam Railroading Institute for the North Pole Express. This, coupled with the fact that this was the first excursion service she was pulling since 2019, attracted many people. After we chased 1225, we decided stop at the Huckleberry Railroad for a short while to get a few shots of their Christmas excursions. In contrast to the North Pole Express, this train was decked out in lights and passed multiple light shows set up along the tracks. Overall, a very successful and interesting day.
This is also my first video with my new camera. In contrast to my previous camera which could only shoot up to 1080p, this beast can shoot up to 4K. The file sizes that come with the 4K are absolutely massive, so let me know if you guys think it's worth it.

Nice new camera. I don’t think I want to know how big the file space was for this tho…

Let's just say it's over twice the file size of 1080p...

"I decided to be one with the foamers and chase the 1225" Literally one of the greatest things ever said but millbury will be foamier

Good audio, good choice of locations. However next time I would let the light dictate your choice of location more, most of your shots are rather dark. I understand the Huck runs later, but even with the early runs a better choice of light can be had. Do you have much experience with the Huck? I see you tended to stay in one general location with them.

We decided to stay at the same location as there was no set schedule for the train. They just ran at random. First time shooting in the evening, plus this was an additional thing to do after 1225, so we didn’t plan.

@@traintalkproductions5934 trains are every 45 min to an hour. Generally from start to finish it’s a 45 min ride and they take 10-15 min to board.
