During the weekend of June 20th-22nd, 2014, the Steam Railroading Institute of Owosso, Michigan hosted "Train Expo 2014".
One of the many activities people could partake in were the Half-Day trips to Alma, Michigan and return. These excursions were pulled by one of the two big "Berkshire"-type steam locomotives - Nickel Plate Road 765, from Indiana's Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society - and Owosso's own Pere Marquette #1225.
In this video, we'll follow the 1225 as it takes charge of the Half-Day excursion to Alma and return. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the "Polar Express" engine in action!
Also, my apologies if the pacing shot on the return trip is too wobbly. I did try to stabilize it in Final Cut Pro, but the camera sensors didn't take well to the car driving on Michigan's dirt/gravel roads.
