The number 1 thing Santo Domingo Este needs is the train that will connect the air port to DN crossing all of SDE, and extending line 2 to Los mameyes. That will be the biggest game changer
A monorail from Las Americas Airport (AILA) to SDE and the National District (la capital) is desperately needed. It will alleviate a lot of traffic and would make it cheaper, safer, elegant, and faster to go to and from El Distrito Nacional.
I think that that is in the planning phase, but it will go from AILA to the National District (the capital) with several stops in between including SDE.
@@cristiandiaz6333 yeah luckily this government has been much more aggressive with mass transit. 2012-2020 the previous government wasted a lot of time and only did 3.4 km and 1 cable car. The president already presented the 3.2 billion dollar plan that will implanted within the next 5 year (public private investment)
El Faro a Colon needs a stop. Los Mameyes and la Isabelita, Maquiteria, have a draw though and that that they high crime areas and you do not want tourists to be too expose to that unless it gets cleaned up and more police presence available.
Dominican Republic needs more roads and more mass transportation. Also, it would be nice to have some bike lanes and rental bikes for people that want to get around shorter distances.
The city actually set up a bike route on two important avenues, and they are seldom used, but they are available for use! On Bolívar ave and Pedro Henríquez Ureña ave
@@PurelyWalking That is good, I hope more Dominicans use bicycles. Its a good way to stay in shape. When there are more electric cars, the Dominican government should invest in smart roads in the future.
@@rafm3068 The problem with riding bicycles in the city is the relentlessly hot climate, especially during peak summer months. Many streets/roads in Santo Domingo are not well-shaded, therefore most people prefer to ride in their car because of the comfort of air conditioning. Air pollution in highly congested areas can also be a downside when riding bicycles.
Bike riding in DR is an old practice that has been reviving over the last 7 years. The number of biciclist in DR has been growing every year and they need specific areas for them to do so more safely. Nonetheless, in the Capital (National District), there are several parks where people often ride bicycles such as El Mirador del Sur, Mirador Norte, Jardin Botanico, and El Malecon on Sundays.
Hopefully in the future they convert two of the lanes for public buses transportation and create another lane for a train that can divert traffic jams and into the airport
Es solo una carretera de dos vias ir y dos para volver, cuando no hay carros aparcados que quitar una via de las dos que hay... las autopistas o autovias son otra cosas, nada que comparar. un saludo J.S.
Hey PW, how are you? Do you know how far from downtown Santo Domingo is Santa Domingo Estate? Are there apartments for rent in Avenida San Isidro area? Is it a safe place for a retired senior citizen? Thanks
Hey there! Santo Domingo Este it's about 7 km from downtown. The issue is not the distance but the awful traffic. There are always PLENTY of apartments in the area for rent. Safety depends on the exact area you decide to rent in, just take normal common sense precautions when going out, and you should be fine
The reason why there are so many of those hotels is because prostitution is legal in the Dominican Republic. If a senator's wife feels like she wants to work as a prostitute, there is nothing he can do, because she is not breaking the laws. Now with the new streets, you may see an increase of that business in that area
Hay gente esperando en los pasos de peatones y no para ningun carro, que verguenza.... !!!! J.S. y tambien la cantidad de cables colgando... nunca habia yo visto eso en una " autopista " como dicen los domunicanos ,ja,ja,
I love your vids. Could you make one showing around the new Paris con Duarte area? I’d love to hear your opinion and of the people around the area. Thank you!
Yes, there are plenty of good Airbnb options! The distance thing is a huge factor, just check the places you plan to visit and see if it's not too far away
Thos dividers have the purpose of preventing pedestrians from crossing that highway everywhere instead of those specific cuttings and thus lessen the chance of someone getting hit by a car. It also prevents cars from being parked there at night when it becomes more of a free fall for parking especially in areas with many bars, discotheques (as they are called in DR still), lounges, and restaurants. Sadly, drivers in DR can be somewhat blind to the normal driving and parking rules that occur during the daytime and when more traffic policing is visual.
Saludos, Those motels, cabanas should go away, based of the nature of them(kind a sneaky- hideouts) onw thing to mention is that this is an avenue not a highway.
I agree. It was supposed to be an express route, like all autopistas, but the use and misuse by people and developers Made it the hybrid it is Now. Btw, not a good design, having one side with marginal lanes and the rest all together, fallo de diseño or someone was too lazy to have the electric towers be moved either to the side or the Center
