Nice video! Some corrections...it’s Montana Avenue not street, 27th Street is the main street downtown not 25th and locals call the hills “The Rims” not the Rimrocks. I can’t recall ever hearing them called the Rimrocks. But otherwise you did a nice job. I’ve been to every brewery and my favorite ones are Thirsty Street and Angry Hanks which is next to Thirsty Street at the start of your video. My favorite restaurant is Ciao Mambos (Italian) next to Uberbrew. Portions of the movie “Far and Away” were filmed at the train depot. Across the street from the depot is in my opinion one of the most beautiful buildings in Billings. The Rex Hotel has recently been redone and is now called “Buffalo Block at the Rex”. Buffalo Bill Cody was a part owner of the building when it was built and many famous old west celebrities have been there like Buffalo Bill , Calamity Jane, and Chief Plenty Coup. You walked past the building but you couldn’t really see it in the video. The Pub Station (music venue) had been the Greyhound Bus Station for many, many years. The sign PUB used to say BUS. Just some interesting tidbits. I have so many stories about the buildings in downtown Billings (I’ve lived here 60 years) but I’ve probably gone on too long. 🙂
Thanks so much. Yes it is a great way to see another place. I really enjoy watching videos from Europe and Asia as well. It gives me a better sense of what real life is a bit like. Thanks so much. - Henry
Great video! Gives a real feeling of what a US city really is. Streets, cars, concrete and cars. No for real, thats why I like these videos, pure and simple reality.
Me too. Love getting the real view of a city from channels like yours (great channel btw) as opposed to the glossy travel shows. Thanks for the comments - Henry
City Walks, do I have any other choice? I believe I don't. I am forced to leave words of praise and gratitude that you are reliable to always upload high-platform quality contents for me to enjoy and receive contentment from.
Thanks so much. Yep it was pretty cold and blustery. I think it was a work day but can't remember. Maybe people were having lunch? It's not like one of the big cities back east where everyone is out and about during the day. But a great downtown area. Thanks for watching. -Henry.
It is that time of the year again- snow. Are people staying indoors? But you brave the cold :) Thanks for sharing your hometown. It is perfect place to be.
I'm now retired. Wanting to go back to my roots - Great Falls, If you have been to Great Falls, would you prefer Billings. I'm a walker and photographer at heart. Nice Video and thank you for taking the time to share.
Thanks for showing me Billings, MT. It’s great to experience Montana on RU-vid. If I can’t be there then RU-vid definitely would lead me anywhere in the country with a rising cost of gas prices. I can see it from comfort of my own home
The city looks like Sacramento. Were are all the cars on the street? Sactown has alot more traffic and no snow. I like the brick buildings. Also more big trees in Sacramento. The vid is very honest. Real small town feel. Good video from Sacramento .
The building that is now the Double Tree used to be the Sheraton Hotel. I don't recall when it was actually built but I believe it was sometime shortly after my family moved there in 1977. We moved from Billings in 1988. Thanks for the walk through downtown.
Hello Mustafa and welcome. Bet you don't get weather like this over there. Hoping to make it to Australia in the next couple years. Thanks for the comment - Henry
Hi fellow walker, very much enjoying your latest offering, especially so with the narration. I'd like to add you to my featured channel in appreciation but not sure if I can add more to the 4 I already have, are you familiar with the feature?
Hi Henry, it seems you can add as many as you like, so that's all done now! (Very easy in the end... just customize channel...featured channels...add)!
Excellent way to get rid of your cold. Fight cold with cold. My daughter and stopped on Billing’s for a couple hours by Greyhound bus. We went to Navajo run restaurant and went for breakfast. Then we walked over to the used bookstore. We spent some time and then we we walked over to the secondhand store. There wasn’t much there, but we did find a dod there who enjoyed a belly rub from my daughter. We were on way home back to Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada, from Hollywood.
Hi, it's an awning system over the intersection. I believe the close the streets in normal time and have markets and other community gatherings there. -H wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skypoint
Im on these streets every day. And that isn't cold. Steady camera. Nice. You walked through some rough spots. Natives could have jumped you. Lol. Careful
Yeah, there's a sharp line between dodgy and trendy in Billings but I felt fairly safe except for a block or two. And yes, it wasn't too cold but definitely felt it. Are you a police officer to be on the streets everyday or for other reasons? Thanks for watching. -Henry
3:36. I saw a drunk indian get in a fight with a drunk biker right near there. I can't remember which but one had his brains literally stomped out. Billings was fun in the 80's.
@@CityWalks It was depressing and mean back then. I think its still depressing but mostly unfriendly people. Would never go back to my home town. Some real shit people there still.
It's sad how crappy our downtown is compared to some smaller cities in Montana. I think Bozeman and Missoula have a better downtown scene than Billings...even in the winter!
@@CityWalks understood but the city lacks high paying jobs white collar jobs... I mean if you want to endure bitter, dreary cold to move in there, the cash flow needs to be pretty good from job to make up for the weather.
