West Yellowstone is a town in Gallatin County, Montana, adjacent to Yellowstone National Park. The population was 1,271 at the 2010 census. The town is served by Yellowstone Airport. It is part of the Bozeman, MT Micropolitan Statistical Area. It was founded in June 1908 when the Oregon Short Line Railroad was completed. The town's name changed several times until West Yellowstone was settled upon in 1920.
For many, the town of West Yellowstone is a place to stay while traveling through Yellowstone National Park. The town is separated into two parts, residential and commercial, roughly at the road D Parkway. South of D Parkway (Alley) is mainly a business area; north of it is an area of homes and apartments. The area north of D Parkway is known to locals as the "Madison Addition". The town has one school, serving kindergarten through 12th grade.
Because of its proximity to Yellowstone National Park, the town receives a large amount of tourism, especially from China. To cater to these tourists, the town has commercial signage in Mandarin and six Chinese restaurants. It is estimated to receive more than half its annual business from Chinese tourists

I grew up there eighteen years the iff season is honestly so nice we can go to the store and out to eat and not have to worry about a long wait or not being able to walk through an isle in the store.

goldie Bear hi Goldie. We don’t do much other than get our cold weather clothes out for winter. We keep a small shovel and a blanket in the car in case we go off the road but we haven’t done that in years. We are just used to it at this point.

It can be beautiful in November here but also a bit brutal. In my town, we got a deep freeze in October and turned all the leaves brown instead of orange. Then it was cloudy for quite awhile. Thanks for the comment. -Henry

My wife and I are planning to travel around the US when we move there from South Korea (I'm from the Midwest and she's Korean). Yellowstone is amazing. Just make sure to give your self plenty of time. It's a BIG place with lots to see. Also, take at least one hike, if not more. And drink plenty of water. :-) All the best, -Henry

Hello, great videos. What kind of video recording device are you using if you don’t mind me asking? Is this a GoPro? I would like to do this on my walks with my dogs on our trails here in Canada. Is the camera discreet? I can only imagine some people passing by might not want to be in the video. Anyway any info you could provide would be appreciated. Thank you so much, all the best!

Hello there. I think that's a great idea for a channel. I think there's even a bbc program called "Walks with my Dogs", though not as simple as these type vids. I used a DJI Osmo Pocket for this vid and it is very discreet. Let me know when you get your channel up. I'd love to walk along. -Henry

I’ve seen where all the Honda Elements are!!! Haha! I’ve seen 2 or 3 in this video already! There seems to be a spaceship/echo kind of sound in this that I don’t recall hearing in your other videos. Maybe the wind hitting a mic when walking?? Have you done research to see if there is a better mic set-up? Maybe a lapel mic?? Maybe one that just picks up your voice and some other sound, but not so much your feet. It seems you have a good mic at picking up things, but maybe it’s too sensitive. I’ve noticed when you talk- it’s better as you don’t hear your feet as much. So just keep talking non-stop! Hahaha! :) I like seeing down here. It looks like it’s change A LOT since I left MT roughly 15 years ago.

Yes, unfortunately, the vertical stabilizer began to squeek and I didn't realize it until I'd filmed a few more vids, basically until I got to Denver. I've tried to use several lapel mics but none have worked with the adapter. Thanks for sticking with me. And yes, much of Montana has changed in the last 10 years, especially in the 191 corridor up to Bozeman and beyond. Lots of growth. -Henry

@@CityWalks it’s no problem on the noise. It’s not like everything has to be perfect. Just offering suggestions. Have you ever tried filming with the newest GoPro? I’m not sure if it would be a good idea. I’ve just seen stabilization on a more recent model. It would be nice because you could do a chest or head mount and not have to hold a camera. Have you looked at what others are using? Have a great day! :)

@@paulgray3444 Hi Paul, I actually have a GoPro8 and have filmed two walks with it so far. The stabilization on it is amazing and I was hoping I could use it without a gimbal but the second walk, I had a lot of issues with not being able to keep it level. I actually like the wider field of view with it in cities because you see so much more. I have looked into what others are using and most are currently either using the DJI Osmo Pocket or a GoPro 7 Black with a gimbal. The other issue I have is limitation on battery and card size. I sometimes try to do 3 or 4 walks in a day and I run out of space on the card or the battery dies, though, I can plug in a battery bank so that's less of an issue. I'd love to get enough walks in that I could start posting 3/week or more but for now I can only do two. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. All the best -Henry
