人口は6万6300人。首都ウェリントンから北東に320kmに位置しています。南へ10km行くとヘイスティングズ という同規模の町があり、ネーピアとともに「双子の都市」と呼ばれています。また、ネーピアはニュージーランド有数のリンゴ、西洋梨、ワイン用ブドウの産地でもあります。

The population is 66,300. It is located 320 km northeast of the capital Wellington. 10km south, there is a town of the same size called Hastings, which, along with Napier, is known as the "Twin City". Napier is also one of New Zealand's leading producers of apples, pears and wine grapes.
