El Poblet opened its doors in Valencia in 2012 and regained the original name of the Dénia restaurant, now Quique Dacosta Restaurante.
Quique Dacosta wanted to bring his cuisine closer to the capital by creating a new haute cuisine offering.
Now a very young team offers its own proposal, with Luis Valls as chef, leading a kitchen that has its pantry in the territory and in the Albufera.
Awarded two Michelin stars in 2019. The gastronomic offer focuses on dishes created by Luis Valls under the influence of the environment and of course the creative philosophy of Quique Dacosta.
El Poblet follows the chef’s philosophy of championing high-quality produce in stimulating dishes executed with creative flair. In contrast to its relaxed and minimalist décor, plates across its tasting menu play zealously with colour and presentation, often paying homage to the culinary mainstays of the region, such as its bomba rice with Valencian ewes and olive, or its financier and macaron presented on the extended palm of an elegantly cast hand.

Hello dear Shiso. First of all, thank you for another nicely made presentation - a great pleasure to watch. This was interesting, and I would almost say "challenging" to watch, in the way it was difficult to distinguish between what was decoration and what was actual food. No doubt, the chef is very visual orientated, driven by creating a feast for the eyes as much as for the taste buds. I wonder how did it taste? And the thumbnail (what looked like caramel donut with a crab resting on top, haha...) did you eat that as well? Once again, you "checked in and out" with some familiar scenery, creating a red thread throughout your Valencia reports - it's a nice touch. Warm greetings with thanks for Bangkok, Thomas

Hello Thomas. Thank you very much for the always interesting comment. This last part of Valencis is a kind of "...one more thing" as it was the final meal of Valencia. Actually back in Switzerland but this restaurant was such a great experience and it tasted great too. So I created this little food adventure from these impressions. I just thought it was a shame not to show this material. Even if it's not a film as usual. As you have already noticed, the visual is also very important here, and yes the crab on the donut was also excellent and very crispy. Luckily the chef de service explained exactly what you can eat and how. It was a very exciting one and culinary discovery to get to know Valencia. Now I will focus on topics in Switzerland again. I'm really looking forward to your next post! With kind regards from Central Europe, shiso

@@ShisoProductions My pleasure. And yes, I could feel the "one more thing" - almost like bonus content. It may not be the main highlight of your travel to Valencia, but it was certainly more than good enough to share, to the point, it would be a shame if you didn't. So thank you again for that. I also - same as you - enjoy trying new foods and new restaurants, especially ones with such reputation as El Poblet, it's art meets food. (I know some people may not appreciate it, they will ask "where are the potatoes, gravy and porkchops?" - food they recognize as basic ingredients for a meal. And nothing wrong with that, I do enjoy the most basic foods as well, but also more "exotic" and experimental dishes like these ones you showed us. It's things you could never create in your own kitchen, and that is what makes it such a unique experience. In general I feel, when traveling somewhere, besides from the usual cultural sightseeing, tasting special food from the destination comes in as a close second - it's an important part of traveling - which is why I applaud you for including it, even though it didn't invite for big camera movements or anything. You can almost say, what it lacked in opportunities for "fancy camera angles" it compensated for in pure deliciousness. 😀 Thank you for this appetizing film. Best regards, Thomas

Thank you very much Thomas! Your detailed comment on the topic of food couldn't have been described better. I absolutely agree with you. Eating is also an art and for me it is also the most special thing about traveling and discovering new places and cultures. The beauty is the diversity. I can enjoy star cuisine just as much as simple street food. But this diversity is precisely what is missing in Switzerland. You can find gourmet temples, but simple, tasty stalls like in Asia are missing here. Especially ramen shops where you can get a great meal for just 450 yen. In Switzerland, a ramen soup costs 30 dollars - what a mockery if you know Japan. For me, Japan is still the pinnacle of sophistication and variety of food. There is a whole spectrum and in terms of price you can have everything from minimal to infinite. Of course there are also extreme ones like a melon for 35,000 yen. Seen this way, Valencia had a very good price/quality ratio. From paella, seafood, tappas to high-end cuisine. That's great fun. The enormous effort in the haute cuisine that these chefs conjure up has its price. From that point of view, I treat myself to Kaiseki or star dishes like this from time to time. Just like music, it takes a lot of time until you can compete in the top league. Life is too short for bad food! As I can see from your many posts, it is also a great experience to immerse yourself in the world of cuisine in Bangcock. With that in mind, I thank you for the always interesting comments and it's obviously worth showing this to my audience (funnily enough, you are 90% of my viewers...haha.. but quantity is irrelevant here too). It is a great pleasure that you share these opinions! With the best cinematic and culinary greetings, your friend, shiso
