Morning walk at Huntington Beach during the 2024 Solar Eclipse Day.
Southern California recently experienced the wonder of a partial solar eclipse, an event where the Moon travels across the Sun, partially obscuring it from view. Although the state didn't witness a total eclipse, the phenomenon still offered a stunning spectacle. On April 8, 2024, observers in Southern California saw the Moon cover a significant portion of the Sun, starting just after 10 a.m. and lasting until about 12:20 p.m. At the peak of the eclipse, approximately 50% of the Sun was obscured, providing a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to engage with one of nature's rarest and most fascinating events.
