4L80e - I FIXED IT 

I used to use the red shop rags to check fluids but they come apart and will leave strands like that in your motor and your transmission. I use the blue paper towels and after I clean the dip sticks with that I pinch them with my fingers and pull it through to make sure noting is on the dip stick before I put it back in the motor or trans depending on what im checking. Good catch on this one!

A+ on the repair glad you got it sorted. Why not just use a reg filter or better yet actually pay a company to make them with that media and not some bullcrap stock filter modified......

Seeing you used the filter from your old trans, maybe that was completely fine in the end as well?

That's gotta be frustrating. What facebook group helped you? I rebuilt my own and it ran fine for a few thousand miles. I recently smashed down on it and it shifted to second pretty good. The next time I drove it I felt a fairly soft 1-2 shift. It just got worse from there. It went to first and second gear only and slips. Line pressure is 50 in park, drops and rebounds when you select a gear, jumps to around 125 revving in park and pulses like it isn't picking up. I am about to check the output to cooler like you did. If you have any ideas, please help.

I have a 80e currently I'm my gmc sonoma behind a 6.0L and I've been trying to find out my issues aswell. Rebuild trans using Jake's stage 3 kit with that same filter...... I have no movement in any gears, but It did work fine for about 5 kilometers of driving. Could this be my issue aswell?
