I absolutely love my 2014 Trail edition 4wd 4 runner. Has 126,000 miles on it with no repair issues. It is one of my favorite vehicles that I have ever owned. I love the reliability.

You mentioned Tundra, it's a bigger vehicle and running trails gets tight or not possible... Running trails with downed tree's, or width of road, makes slim passing... Just a thought...

I’ve had my 2014 4WD SR5 for a year and got it at 160k on the odometer and I’m about to hit 190k. Absolutely no mechanical issues and have loved it. Only maintenance I have done is oil changes and upgraded to height adjustable Bilstein 5100 shocks and leveled the front. Put on some Method 301 wheels and stock size Venom Power terra hunter tires. All off-road functions work just fine and have only gotten stuck once in really deep mud before I had off road tires

I bought my 2016 4Runner Trail Edition brand new on 2017 Memorial Day Weekend. I'll be taking it for the 175K Mile Interval Servicing on Friday. My only major repair that I've done was replacing the leaking water pump around 108K mile marker. Hoping to get to 300K miles one day!

I appreciate videos like this so much especially since there's not a lot of proper long term reviews. Granted I know each vehicle and driver/ owner situation is different but at the core it's good to see one go the distance.

GREAT REVIEW and vehicle- and I don't blame you-I'd "baby" it too-- because it will do most anything- no need to hammer it and beat it to death on trails... you can have just as much fun slowly , deliberately and safely. In fact-- I'm 67 , been mashed between two trucks in 99 and a sudden jolt to the side could easily paralyze me-- (and they happen often on trails if you DON'T take it easy).

Love the video Jason. I have the last trail team edition of the FJ Cruiser series. I love it and I’ve been modifying it since 2017. I only have 54k miles on it and I’m near finishing the build. The only issues I’ve had have been from the modifications. Toyota is definitely my platform being I’ve turned every wrench on all my mods from Kings suspension to a Whipple supercharger, I’ve learned a lot and broke a lot too 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Been thinking the same and putting my silver 4Runner and might go EV. The trades/offers are good, 4Runner value is great! Still debating though, paying about 140 a month for gas would be saving a bunch.

I could use some real world 4runner advice. My fam is considering nabbing one of these final 5th gens. Narrowed it down to the Offroad Premium, Offroad Premium with KDSS, or the TRDPro. Resale value is meaningful, though we do keep vehicles for the long term. Mostly on-road and light trail performance prioritized. No major offroading or modification intended at this time (perhaps mods in future), but we like to have serious get-out-of-a-jam capability just in case. How would you rate these three options?

I did a video with them as the main focus 2 years ago and almost bought one then. They don’t have a much higher tow rating sadly. As much as a Tacoma which is nice but still no bed. The plan is to get the tundra now and then decide either GX or 3rd Gen 4Runner after that. I personally like the GX a little more but they seem to be crazy expensive where I live.

All that added weight AND 34" tires and you're getting 15mpg without a regear? Interesting. The 4Runner has a robust, welded frame. The Tundra, not so much. They tend to "flex" then break. This is well documented. Best of luck with that.

130K?? Heck this isnt'e even broken in good yet... these will easily do a million miles-- WELL!!!! I'm thinking of buying an SR5 or maybe a TRAIL edition- they are JUST as capable as the TURDS (play on trd- and jokingly because I love thse things).. just that the driver has to do it himself- instead of a bunch of electronic aids... I"D rather drive my OWN... PLUS the Trail edition will do a lot better MPG wise!! That way , it will have the capabilties of handling a rough winter with deep wet snow-- or rainy weathers.. etc.. but still do fine on the street for my regular driving. I'm 67 and injured so won't be going that much anyway..
