have had too many cans spill while on paved road. open cans are a no-no in the vehicle, while driving. thermos / covered cup / covered bottle are the preferred item to drink from. more spill proof. one mod / build i did was get some bbq grill grating an cut out a grate for my little twig stove like your fire maple. several of my camp pots have odd shapes. they need more support than just on the edges of the sides. i use a shoe polish tin as a warming pan for my trangia in this setup. mine has 2 shelves. a lower for the warming pan / twigs. the top has a hole in it big enough to hold / support a trangia.

I don't really have a process, it's more by... feel? If it feels sloped, I pull forward and put some rocks under the tires of the low end, and then gently back up on top of them. Repeat as necessary. In this case, there was a handy rock shelf right where I needed to lift up my passenger rear tire. No rock stacking needed!

I think they came down the trail the same way I did before I turned off. Which is graded forest road and pretty easy, other than some deep ruts. @ShoestringMartha 16 дней назад
Hello - we love visiting Denver! As a lazy person, I don't typically bother to air down for our graded gravel or packed clay forest roads at all. If it's exceptionally washboarded or rutted, I might reduce by 8-10psi for a less jarring ride. For the very rocky offshoot that I took to get to this particular camp spot, I would have preferred to take it down to probably about 20psi, if I had my deflators and compressor with me.

Hi Martha, I'm curious if you can tell me about how far in on the road from 17 a vehicle with 8" of clearance could get? I am planning to run the Verde Valley and the route would end at Munds Mountain. I would really love to have my wife meet me in this area and drive me back home from there. From the map, it looks like Schnebly Hill Rd is pretty tame up on top there and that in this video you were a bit off that main road getting a good camping spot in some of the rougher areas? I'll definitely go drive it before the run if it's viable but would love to know your thoughts. Thanks!

@ShoestringMartha 28 дней назад
Find the Sedona Overlook in Google Maps. To that point from the 17 it is graded forest road. Only hazard might be muddy conditions after rain. It is also the last point where camping is allowed. After that, it gets really rocky, really fast.
