In this video I will show you how to trim your rocker guards to provide additional clearance while maintaining a factory appearance. This will save you money and give you the ability to add rock sliders designed for the TRD Pro/TRD Off Road/SR5 as long as the xreas system has been removed/upgraded first.

Just did this to my limited. Omg looks so much better. And looks much more lifted. Color matching the chrome is Definitely the way to go. It honestly looks better than sr5

This is a fantastic mod for a Limited. I am going to try and gather up the courage to do this on my 2019 Limited when I replace the XREAS suspension with Bilstein 6112's this spring. Absolutely love the look.

Finally a channel that focus on doing Limited 4runner mods. Love the channel. Love the content. Keep it up and thanks for the breakdown. I'm installing some Westcott Design sliders here soon and needed to do this.

Wow! SO glad I found this. As a new (to me) 2010 SR5 owner I noticed it has the Limited rockers, and not sure why. Saw other threads and videos linking the parts list to switch these out and MAN are they expensive! This is a fantastic solution esp if you're going to install sliders. The modded rockers look factory! GREAT JOB! Suggestion: Use a wine glass pen to do your markings. Goes on like a paint pen, comes off with a wet rag.

Wanted to take a minute to say thank you for this video. Really thank you for all the content regarding the Limited but specifically this video at this time. I JUST put rock sliders on and realized the bare area needed a solution and boom here you are with the answer, two weeks before I knew to ask! I've got mine all taken apart and ready to measure and cut this weekend! Nice touch blacking that chrome strip too...

It’s worth to say.. the clips (white) will break if the rocker is removed the way you describe. Before pulling it off get under and squeeze the white clips so they release otherwise you’ll be ordering new ones. Not sure what the dealer charges for these but there is 16 of these for the front and left side.. Amazon seems to carry them but will only know in a couple of days if the quality is good or not.

Question. I have a 2010 Toyota limited. I can’t seem to find any side step rails for sale that would fit. Is it because I just need to take off the rocker panels?
@CharlieSchliesser
@CharlieSchliesser 11 месяцев назад
I have an SR5, but the 2010’s all have cladding / rocker panels like this that needs to be removed to put side steps in. I’m going to use this video’s method to cut them down and put them back on, because the rockers definitely need this for weather proofing and aesthetics.

G get free and this last weekend I crunched the passenger side rocker panel while on some trails. Do I even need to replace it, or can i just remove them all together and put rock sliders?

Great mod! Does the moulding still protect the metal under it? Or is it more aesthetic? I’m in between getting the TRD pro rocker panel moulding or going this route
@T4Rgarage

It protects the outside edge of the rocker. If you want minimal risk from rock chips I’d get the trd rocker panels or put some sliders or something similar on to protect it. I have the mud guards and sliders

Hi there - great video, I plan to do this soon. Apologies if this is a silly question (fairly new to this), but a while ago I had a shop replace my suspension with the Bilstein 5100’s in the front and back. That said, I still see the XREAS center control absorbers on both the passenger and driver side. Is this something that should have been removed or do they still connect to the Bilstein suspension? Thank you in advance!
@T4Rgarage

I would remove it. I have a video on the channel where I removed the complete xreas system

A place called Rondex. Most auto body supply shops can match the Color and put it in spray bombs for you though, just give them your paint code. Paint code is located on the door plate

I also like the new look and clearance! My 2015 Limited has step bars that hang down a bit too far for this mod to look good. Maybe I’ll look into getting shorter hangers if I decide to do the mod. I still have XREAS, but I’m getting closer to deleting per your XREAS Delete video as the ride has gotten worse. No hydraulic fluid leaks but I feel every little bump on the road. I only have 65,000 miles on it but I think it’s time. Can you recommend replacement shocks? I’m not wanting to do a lift as I only do some very mild off road driving. Thanks!

@T4Rgarage
@T4Rgarage Год назад
Yes either those or the Bilstein 5100s will work great. The nice thing is that they will work with your stock coils and if you ever want to raise the front end a little, it’s as easy as adjusting the spring perch a notch.
@mikesweeney5685
@mikesweeney5685 Год назад
@@T4Rgarage Thanks for your reply, sounds like a great option! I wouldn’t mind lifting the front a bit to eliminate some of the rake. If I go with the Billstein 5100s and keep the stock coils, would the process be a lot simpler than your video on the OME Suspension mod? In other words would I have to remove the UCA and loosen the sway bar? I don’t have an impact wrench, but here in west Texas we don’t have your rust issues, so hoping I can get it done with sockets and breaker bar. I would like to try this myself without paying a shop. 🤓
@T4Rgarage
@T4Rgarage Год назад
@@mikesweeney5685 If you are just raising the front end by 2nd setting (0.85”) or even the 3rd setting (1.75”) you won’t require new UCAs and could keep your stock UCA. You will have to loosen the sway bar though. Everything else should be the same though. You don’t need an impact wrench
