Forgive me for my ignorance but i'm trying to learn about this stuff. What does 4S mean? What is this "octura?" thing that you were talking about?

4S describes the voltage that goes to the motor. The higher "S" number, the more power basically. Octura is a brand of RC boat propeller. Thanks for the comment!

I have a proboat react 17 that I recently did a brushless upgrade on. I've only ran it on 3s You wanna talk about a boat that's hard to handle lol.

So I put a brushless 3s motor in mine but I think I broke the flex tube or something cause tube broke in half and prop spins by itself..

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. In stock form, none of the parts of this boat are ready to handle 3S power. You will need to do some upgrades and even then, 3S is more than the hull can handle. It's fun though!

I just bought one of them bolts the other day it's pretty slow what battery can I put in it to make it like go 40 miles an hour not as fast as your double battery what's a good single lipo I can put in there

Jeff, unfortunately it's more complex than just switching to a different battery. Take a look at my other videos on the Stealthwake. One of them talks about the modifications that I did. I had to change quite a few parts. The stock parts can not handle a "big" lipo battery

This appears to be a highly modified Stealthwake rc boat. A far cry from what comes out of the box. Now it seems you need a faster hull design to handle all that power. 47mph is lightning fast for this particular model but with the same setup in the right boat you could very easily see 60+ mph no problem 👍

Yes you are 100% correct. At the time that I shot this video I had other boats that would run over 70. This was just a fun project to see how fast I could get it to run. I think 50mph was probably possible but the hull was just not stable at that speed and the wrecks were hard on the hull.

YOU need to clock back the prop. Go to a 45 14, or 45 19. THE 645 is too big to swing, on that boat. AND the smaller prop will allow the engine to un wind , and the electronics will run cooler. THE OCTURA M442 , might match well too. A CNC .440 , Detounged, might actually work out even better. I have it matched to a "Sonic Wave," and getting 60 mph on 6S . (Hard to control. ) Nice mods.. Got my Black Jack 24, laided out at 63 MPH, on 6 S. .FLT.438. Sharpened and balanced. (That boat isn't supposed to run that fast. Keep up the good work.

So if I got a bone stock one and was looking to upgrade to a brushless set up with lipo batteries what type and models should I get, and what I would need to get/ change to make it happen. Oh and what do you do and how do you maintain this boat.... sorry if I am asking a lot. I am new to rc boats. Thanks😂😊

There is not really an easy way to upgrade to brushless. You should Google: "Bought a Proboat stealthwake to play with". That will take you to my build thread on Offshore Electrics. It's a great forum. I think there may be another Stealthwake build thread from someone else on there too.

I would recommend small upgrades to run 2S or 3S max. The hull is not strong enough to run very high speeds. Don't get me wrong, it's a ton of fun but I pushed mine to far. Hi Rick! Alot of these hobby grade props come unfinished and unbalanced. You can not use an unfinished/unbalanced prop. There are some people that do this service and then sell them on ebay etc. I bought my props mostly on offshoreelectrics . com. Picking a prop is a complicated process. I would recommend talking to the guys on the offshoreelectrics forum.

I just upgraded my Stealthwake to a Castle 4600kw set up. Need advice on prop and longer turn fins? When I run on 3s it's uncontrollable with the big motor. I had tried a 5700kw motor from Castle first and all it did was jump out of the water and barrel roll from the torque of the motor.

+Eric Crompton I have not replaced my turn fins but I have heard that Impulse 31 turn fins and a 90 degree bracket work well. I found that props over about 45mm in diameter really hurt the handling. I liked the Octura M645 but our setups are different. Your motor is over double the KV of my motor so on the same voltage, your rpm is over double mine. I chatted with the ProBoat product developer and he has modified a Stealthwake. He recommended a motor around 2000kv and mine is a 1800kv. Mine will jump out of the water exactly like you describe! Just so that you know, the boat is simply overpowered on 3S and grossly overpowered on 4S. I cracked my hull trying to run big speeds. It's not the hulls fault. It's designed to run about 20-25mph.

4600 would have even more torque then the 5700. most boat motors are under 3000kv from my experience. With a smaller prop and the right pitch you may be able to dial it in but that just seems awfully hot for a boat and I think you will be fighting cavitation.

I thought about this system in mine. Went with the kinexsis 3000kv instead and it's super mean with more power than it knows what to do with. The castle must be nuts they are fast systems

Eric Crompton just re setup mine. Castle sidewinder4 with 1406-4600kv. I'm running octura x637 and 2s I ran 39.8mph 3s I've gotten 48 but had more to go as the prop was all that was wet

I have not searched but ProBoat usually sells that type of product. If not, I would think you could use an oil from a hardware store. I do not know what ProBoat recommends.

In the instructions it tells you what grease to get which is dynamite marine grease, any way I have one of these boats and it is brilliant as it is easy to steer and very fast

Yes I do use the stock servo. I can't remember for sure but I think that I had to rebend the linkage wire???

No, you can not run 3S in the stock Stealthwake. The ESC is not rated for it.

Thanks Michael! It's a rudder from a Shockwave 26. I think the Blackjack 24 may use the same part also. The rudder is also a lot stiffer than the stock Stealthwake piece.

Thanks for your comment! It is common and normal for RC boats to get a small amount of water inside them. This boat is the same if I remember correctly.

I have never run an ft011 but I would rather have a company like ProBoat/Horizon Hobby standing behind me if I had a problem with the boat.

You may or may not remember me. I asked about batteries for the boat. I ended up purchasing a 5000 mah 40c venom Lipo from my local hobbystore. I liked it because it has a universal plug system and a great warranty. Definitely recommended for stealthwake users who have stock electronics. There are other versions of the venom battery but I wanted a little more speed and chose 40c. Definitely will be buying more. I also purchased cheap venom battery low voltage alarm for when I run it. The boats ESC has a low voltage cutoff but I went for added security to protect my investment. I set the alarm a tenth of a volt higher than the cutoff so I can bring it in before the ESC cuts it off so I don't get stranded in the middle of the lake. Also helps to check your cell voltage to make sure they're properly balanced. Thanks for all your help and keep up the videos.

+jay young Nice job Jay. I'm glad you found what you were looking for. Most ESCs have a soft cutoff that lets you get back to shore on reduced power. I can't remember if the Stealthwake has that specific feature or not. I've actually been thinking of buying another Stealthwake. Fun boat!

+God's Country I don't blame you! A good boat for the price and easy to upgrade. You can pit as much money as you want into it and still have a fun machine. I actually take mine out on a 19 mile like on a real boat and charge my batteries using the boat's battery as a DC power supply. It's really fun.

The parts list is in video description of my 3S video. I would recommend against running it on 4S. The hull really isn't made to run that fast and it will lead to aggressive crashes that will break the plastic hull. It's not ProBoats fault because they never meant this hull to run this fast. 2S and conservative 3S are fun though!

Start by going brush less. AND a Flex cable. THE Black Jack 24 uses a 3650 , 2000KV motor. That that is mirrored , to a 90 to 120 AMP controller. Plum the system with the same running transom as the Black 24. USE the V2 edition, STRUT and Turn Fin , and cool the speed controller, and engine, in the same fashion. IF you want to go crazy. YOU"LL need to update the Engine, and controller plugs to EC5. THE Engine WILL need to be updated as well, to a Leopard , or Castle 541 to handle the extra current. A 180 to 200 AMP controller, will be next. Good luck, keeping it in the water on 4 S. 40+ MPH, and Plastic hulls, don't mix well.

+JW Ha Thanks JW! The boat is a real handful on 3S and 4S. This hull wasn't designed to go that fast and it just isn't that stable. The project has been a ton of fun though! I have another video that talks about the modifications but basically its the motor out of a Proboat Impulse 31 V2, a Hobbywing 180a ESC, converted to a flex shaft drive, and a metal rudder with water pickup.

@@GodsCountry this is a badass. I have the same boat I have setup with a Sidewinder4 castle 100amp esc with 4600kv 4 pole with an octura x632. Runs about 50 if I can get there without flipping.

Hey James! Thanks for the message. I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with sensored brushless motors and how the number of turns in them compares to motors I have used (marine nonsensored brushless motors). I will say that the stealthwake is a great boat but it's hull can't reliably handle large increases in speed. When I was making these videos I had some high speed crashes and now I have cracks in the hull on the bottom and on the transom. A little water gets inside now but the boat is actually still runnable. I would only recommend a small bump up in power to keep things fun and reliable.

another really important upgrade at them speeds is a rear end rudder and a flex shaft then you have to also tune the prop angle .upgrade turning fins and adjustable trim tabs. that will make this a really bad beast and also need to balance her out with lead or center the battery at the center of gravity all of that stuff comes into play at them top speeds nice build though man i like her

This is awesome man. I remember I used to own a Stealthawake about a year ago and the stock setup could only handle 2s and Nimh. Boat was so slow, it did about 15mph on nimh, lol. You did a great job upgrading it.

+VerocitySpartan Thanks VS! I really like the Stealthwake for some reason. My stock boat on a 2S lipo ran 19.6mph I believe. Even stock it's a really fun boat.

+God's Country It sure was a fun boat. I had to send mine back to horizon hobby because mine had an issue with flex cable and drive dog connection too loose. I wish I had asked them to send a replacement instead of a refund ;(

Stock they are brushed but mine has been converted to brushless.

Yes but I mainly ran the boat on 2s or 3S and in that case I was only running one pack in the boat. On the 4S run I did have two 2S packs stacked on one side of the boat. The ESC platform and servo are on the other side of that boat so it would take a little bit of work to get packs on both sides.
