Mainly centred around the 1963 South Pacific Championship for racing cars, it was the third round in the Australian Drivers’ Championship. The short film of the race has some nice shots of the racing cars in the paddock plus some of the drivers such as Bib Stillwell, John Youl, Jack Brabham and, the winner of the main event, Bruce McLaren receiving his laurel wreath. Jack Brabham’s Brabham-Climax #4 retires after coming into the pits smoking heavily from an oil leak which caught fire. Chris Amon in #14 also has some problems but finishes the race a lap down in 7th. Bib Stillwell was 2nd behind Bruce McLaren and the local lad John Youl finishes 3rd.
There is also some footage of the bike race which was won by Jack Ahearn, the race weekend also featured Jim Redman (World Champion 250cc & 350cc) on his Australian tour.
