I have a gray 19' 4runner TRD ORP and I love this truck, very capable in stock form , which mine is right now. I never once thought that an SR5 was less than capable. I got the ORP because of the extra features. That's all. But in the end, I would have been happy with a SR5 if I didnt have any other choice. Regardless, you can modify any trim if you have endless amounts of money..
What!? This is illegal! You can’t do that with an SR5, you need atleast a 4 inch lift, 40 inches tires, bumper/rear bumper cut off and armour on un-needed amount of jerry cans all over the vehicle and atleast 20 LED bars!?!?!!$8:&3@:,!;!4!:!! All jokes aside you killed it with the SR5!! 💪♥️
This gives me great confidence! I recently purchased a 2015 SR5 4R and it’s stock bare bones, no center locker. Just ATRAC and 4H/L. Great video and I’ll have to agree with others, it’s refreshing to see a clean SR5 doing everything and then some when people are crawling pavement in TRDOF/PRO trims.
I appreciate this educational video, I purchased a 2021 4runner Premium this summer, it the a-trac, down hill assist. As the other comments state, it's good to see a package like this being put thru it's paces!👍
I just bought my 2015 SR5 yesterday and am in LOVE, I can’t wait to get her off the pavement and get her dirty like this! Thank you for this, great video.
Thank you. Bought a 2021 SR5 premium and after watching all the RU-vid Channel owners with their TRD Off Road Pros + $20k further investment, thought that my stock version may not be very capable until I saw this!!! Thank you for making my day!!
I saw this video last summer, just before I purchased the same year and trim level you have. It helped sell me on the SR5. I had mine in a lot of snow and ice this last winter, including a few spots that I probably should not have been in. Made it through in 4 low. But I think I discovered the 4wd limits of my stock Bridgestone tires. Putting all-terrain 265/70R17s tires on this summer.
I bought a 2018 4runner (identical to yours) stock just replaced the tires with some all terrain ones your telling me I can legit hit the trails with it.. awesome!!! I will report back
Very impressive. I was trying to decide between a TRD or a SR5 premium. This video basically just made my mind up. I will take the extra luxuries in that SR5 and the lower price tag.. Excellent job.
Man I would still get an SR5 and get it lifted. I got a 3 inch lift with Fox coil overs and rear Fox shocks and it handles like a completely different truck.
Liked this video. Have a new SR5 coming in June. I wanted a TRD Pro, but the wife wanted a 3 row, so it had to be a SR5...was afraid that I would be losing a lot with a SR5 since we currently have a Jeep Wrangler X. This video makes me feel better about getting a non-TRD model
This is exactly what i was looking for. A stock SR5 tearing it up. Reaffirming to me (and my wallet) that this is the vehicle I need to purchase. No need for extra bells and whistles.
I purchased a 2022 Toyota 4runner TRD off road premium Barcelona Red with upgraded pro wheels and skid plates. Black out Emblems. Upgraded tires BF Goodrich KO2's. Any 4runner is a beast. I choose this trim simply for the day to day driver. I will admit the off road tech is pretty impressive.. so many modifications are a possibility. What's important..we keep the tradition alive. For me there is not a better truck anywhere in the world!!
I just got an sr5 like 4 months ago and I really wanna take it on some trails here in kansas/missouri. This gives me some serious hope cause his tires are almost just like mine
The SR5 is amazingly capable, thank you for showing us just what they can do. What color is this SR5? In some shots it looks green in others grey. I like that you painted the stock wheels gloss black, that's what I'm going to do with mine.
Just bought a 2021 B.Red SR5 Premium. Replaced Dunlop stock tires with the same size BFGOODRICH KO2’s now she ready for anything. Not lifting maybe a level one day. Oh and I got all my interior lights switched out to led’s hahaha
I thought you needed a 700,000 pound winch, rock sliders, full underbody armor, 100,00,000 watt led light bars, special massive round custom color wheels and tires, in truck generator, freezer box, CB system with communications tower, a roof rack that can hold an elephant, steel bumpers front and rear to hold gasoline cans and a little latter to climb on the roof. Glad I left mine stock. 😁
I just bought my 2020 4Runner trd off road premium and i love it. I took it wheeling and no one thought i could do what the rest of the built trucks could do. I did everything they did but better and i had street tires no Mts or ats. I got this trim because it suited me. The pro gets too much hype. I wanted to keep my KDSS the pro doesn’t come equipped with it. Either way with the extra money you wouldn’t have to pay for a pro, you could use to build your 4Runner your way
Emily :wow ,ok ,i got the 2021 off road premium with KDSS and its amazing stability .. do you have a lift on yours ? I heard you can go 2 inches....do you think its worth it after off roading..?I heard the Articulation is excellent with KDSS ..I’m asking all these questions as i wait for my second shot ...to get the green light from my boss (wife) for fun in Maine. Regards
I hate this damn music. Its not particularly annoying but every time I watch this video, and I've watched it quite a few times because its good, I have it stuck in my head all night
Where is this? Must be a landfill nearby judging by the amount of garbage strewn everywhere. Nice content, I’m seriously considering a 4R for my next vehicle.
For you, people who are giving the SR5 nonstop praise which, in many ways, it deserves, you have to notice that in several of these obstacles, they put down traction boards in order for this vehicle to get through the hardest parts. Take a look.
OMG!! Street tires? People wasting months searching for the best off-road tires. You should post this video on the 4runner org forum, there many off-road "experts" lol. Definitely LIKE.
They have skid plates but most people switch the stock ones out for beefier aftermarket skids or the trd skid plate. I personally swapped mine for the trd skids and they have worked great so far
What I'm liking about this-- is I DON"T NEED the TURD ( the TRD- just a play on the sound- I LOVE the trucks- so no offense intended)... because this will easily get me everywhere I'd be wanting to go without all the fancy robotic driving aids that I can't stand anyway-- I prefer driving my OWN truck-- not some damn robot doing it. I think I might get one of these.
I have been in the market for a new suv, car. I’m kind of stuck between a 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler...if you don’t mind me asking how had this one treated you mechanically? And how much did you pick her up for ?$?
A 4runner will never break down, it will always start, it will never leave you stranded, and even after hundreds of thousands of miles you’ll have the confidence to drive it normally with no issues
in the begging the truck don't have the side rails, then it does, is this the same truck? What side rails are those? I like that they are not too low and close to the body. as opposed to a big ass gap. Thanks in advance, I just bought my SR5 Premium about 3 weeks ago.
Coming from someone who owns a trd off road....you don’t need one. The sr5 does wonders too and all the upgrades will be done your way. Half of the time it’s the sr5 doing more wheeling then most of the trd pros I’ve seen. You’ll end up paying less as well.
