It really, really sucks that Angel ended after this season. Adding Spike to team was a fantastic choice and there were so many possibilities the show could have gone. And the dynamic between him and Angel is amazing!!!
I think it’s not so much that this episode is bad, it’s just that it falls in a very bad place in the season. At this point, Angel and Spike have decided to bury their crap following Fred’s death, for the greater good. Seeing them bickering like this, whilst entertaining as hell, really feels like regression. Also, making Angelus a comedic figure doesn’t work in my opinion. Angelus is supposed to be terrifying. Kind of leave this episode thinking Buffy should have just called the Immortal in season 2, would have solved all our problems. Also, isn’t Angel supposed to be trying to trick the circle of the black thorn he’s turned evil here? Hard to do when he’s blatantly chasing after Buffy in Italy, and a hell of a risk for him to take, especially for something he asks his team to give their lives for in literally the next episode.
These two will forever be my favorite male vampires in television history. David and James really did seem to have fun doing these scenes. Its absolutely hilarious. 😊
There are so many layers here. How often Angel talks about Buffy as fated with him - A forever love, waiting for cookies, etc. - How much Spike doesn't claim possession of Buffy but will defend what they shared - "it is if you do it enough!" - the fact that Angel is always trying to bring Spike down - leaving the head, slugging Spike after an obvious mistake - and the fact that, of the two, Spike is the more at peace - jumping on the Vespa without hesitation, willing to coddle Angel's ego. It really is on point with how Angel is still finding his self, but Spike has come through his trials and is no longer lost.
Angel mentioned "Cookies" and totally remembers that whole conversation of #Buffy They really both love her and she loves them #Buffy #BTVS #SMG #SBuffy #BAngel
@@brittanybarthel1410 Angelus was cursed with a soul more than a 100 years prior to ever meeting Buffy. Spike tried to rape Buffy. Hell the entire time of knowing Buffy, Spike tried to kill Buffy as well.
In some ways, ensouled Angel and ensouled Spike don’t really know each other that well. Angelus is treated as a different personality later in the series, and Spike wasn’t ensouled till season 7, so Angel didn’t meet good Spike till LA
@@mr.j8568 then again, in the comics, Spike gives Drusilla his soul because he is confident that he had changed enough where he didn’t need it. So she gets his soul and goes mad with grief and guilt, and he remains good, but takes back his soul since she can’t bear it. So maybe ensouled spike and good spike are only separated by that one moment of grape
@@javierarias424 I agree to a fair degree. The chip basically altered him that way and forced him on that path. And he walked it for violence against other demons. But then saw how he was able to still do "extraordinary" things for good. And then later got his soul and basically was the same
@MeganAngel315 He'd already filled out here compared to his BTVS days. Just to be clear, "filled out" is not an insult, it means to have matured into a (usually attractive) adult man from being a slim or even skinny youth.
@@jimmy2k4o or this…Lol Buffy to Giles: How bored were you. Giles: I watched Passions with Spike. We will never speak about that again. That makes me laugh every time.
@@jimmy2k4oGiles and Spike was more a father and son thing than a bromance. With the deep sense of disappointment towards Spike on Giles' part and Spike's summary of Giles' life as endless cups of tea and near miss shags.
It is if you do enough times 😂 ( Perhaps Spike's way of saying buffy isn't a little girl anymore and picked someone who could actually give her an adult relationship )
@@javierarias424 Their relationship was toxic and forceful. When Buffy died and came back she was genuinely empty and selfish for a time. Spike was not a good person. He was what she was attracted to, and she didn't treat him well. This modeled itself in their relationship. They still had a relationship with a connection. She was more honest with him than she was anyone. I specified it as an adult relationship because by the end they came to a place of intimacy, better understanding, and sacrifice.
@parisknight1840 Yes, they did. Most of them started similarly, too. Spike was her last relationship in the show. They grew emotionally at the end though.
Thank you so much for putting this episode on. It is also one of my favourite episodes. And when my mom was alive every time I played this episode, she would come running into the room and say what are you watching? Is that Dean Martin? She loved Dean Martin. I miss her so much and this brings back good memories. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
4:50 always makes me laugh. Such a strange crash. Strange edit it’s like the bike is still and the car is moving then the car is still and the bike is in pieces.
I’m sorry to be awkward but what does darla mean when she says “concurrently” and angelus replies “you never let us do that” Was she describing a 3-sum/orgy with her, dru and the immortal, and angelus is upset because him and spike have never been allowed to do that. Does that imply they practice “wife swapping” but not group orgies?
Only one way to find out is by watching it. Picture Law and Order with the main character as a vampire helping a detective solve crimes in LA. If you're a fan of Law and Order.
@javierarias424 having started it I agree firstly the fight while at times clearly staged are not overly coriographed like in buffy. And just love learning about his past and also The Host is awesome

I know no one cares but I’m a fictionkin of an AU and this episode was a bit different. They thought Buffy might have been under a spell still but it was because they had both heard that she was very happy with Faith instead. They both had girlfriends (or more than that in one case) so it wasn’t as much fighting about that.
He's angel and spikes rival there kinda pissed at him cause he had sex with Darla and dru at the same time something they never allowed angel and spike to do counting hes dating buffy well decoy buffy
Well, it's this guy who's face can haunt a girl's once pleasant dreams. His presence still lingers here and won't leave her alone. Now she's suppressed by her childish fears and she is _really_ tired of it.
