Hello, friends! Welcome to May and an episode full of making. As I say close to the beginning of the video, I feel like I'm in between a lot of things right now but not fully in any of them...it's a liminal spaces kind of time, which is somewhat reflected in my making, but that's ok! We have those times!

I'll be removing all in-stock items from my shop for the two weeks while we'll be away on our vacation. Pre-order items, including the 2023 A Middle Earth Winter countdown collections and the Signature Series yarns will remain up while I'm out of the studio.
Shortly after returning in early June, I'll be opening up sign ups for my next yarn and fiber club! Stay tuned for details on that soon!

I feel your frog it/leave it conundrum!! Been there more than I care to admit! In my opinion, I would frog & knit a smaller size. Looks like some gorgeous colors going into the shop…yayyy! I especially like the neutral stripes!(says I, who always opts for brights, wild-er color combos…go figure!?!) The blue fiber is scrumptious! I don’t spin, but I think I “need” more deep blues in my stash…maybe…sure, why not??!! heh heh

That colour of your hand spun is too pretty to waste if you don’t love the way it makes u feel wearing it. Try blocking it but if u don’t love it . Frog it

With your new handspun, don't swatch with the small skein plied together from the leftover on the bobbin. In my experience, that little bit has never been the same as the full skeins for size.

Lovely projects, Lisa, and it sounds like a lot of great things will be coming to the shop! As far as your highland slipover, I would go ahead and rip it out to make the smaller size. You love the yarn and know it will be a useful item, so I think it would be worth it to you in the end. Have fun on your bicycle trip, and best of luck to you at the show!

For your slipover, would you wear it more if it had a straight hem (not ribbed)? If not, I would persnally frog and redo for another pattern or a smaller size.

we did a Vermont Bicycle Tour years and years ago. It was so much fun. I'm from the midwest so seeing rural Vermont was fun and they had our routes planned for easy, medium or hard rides and we would meet as a group for lunch and stay at local Inns. Great memories. I hope your trip is so fun and you make lots of great memories.

Try to sew with the yarn in on each side with big basting type stitch without cutting it try on and see if you think you will like it if not frog and redo in smaller size I too have the same issue I will always be bigger in my head

I like the Highland pullover. What about trying it out over different tops to see if you like it over something else. I've never been great a layering.

It will come as no surprise to you that I would opt to frog your Highland Slipover and reknit it into something you will love and wear, especially since the yarn is so amazing. I think it would be worth it in the long run. Your combo spin looks wonderful and I can't wait to see it knit up. Your upcoming bicycle trip sounds pretty incredible--enjoy!

No, I'm not surprised that you'd be in favor of frogging it. In fact I've had that thought..."Carol would frog this." LOL I honestly cannot decide. I think yes, I'm going to frog it, then I end up putting it on and wearing it around the house on chilly mornings, and it is super cozy and warm, and I think well, if I'm wearing it unblocked with the ends hanging out, it seems I might wear it if I just finish it too! So crazy that I can't make up my mind. As for my combo spin, I'm definitely looking forward to knitting my sweater with it. I need to get through this trip first and a couple of other projects I want to do first though. But soon!

I love the colour and the fabric but it is a lot of ease. Have you thought about adding sleeves and making it into a sweater with drop sleeves? It really is lovely and I hope it works out for you whatever you decide.

I feel like sleeves might make it look even wider than it already is. I keep putting it on around the house in the mornings when it's chilly and it is really comfortable and cozy. It may just be one of those functional pieces that feels good but looks funny. LOL

Hi Lisa, I suggest blocking your vest and then giving it like six months. In that time span see how often you reach for it to wear. After that six months goes by then make a call on it to keep or frog.

Thanks! That's actually where I'm leaning. I've been putting it on around the house, unblocked and with ends hanging out, and it's been super cozy on chilly mornings just as it is. LOL
