The drill idea is very cool, but you have to increase airflow. These motors get hot and have an impeller inside to cool the stator windings as it spins. That's why there are holes in the motor.

Lens, fan, heat sink, screws, got it, pretty simple. Oh, thermal paste, okay, I have a half a jar of Arctic Silver somewhere, I can do that. Hmm, LED lighting, a little harder, but I think I can... oh, is that a soldering iron? I'm sure I have one around here somewhere. A multimeter? Maybe I could borrow... drilling now? Spacers? What the hell is a spacer?! A REGULATOR? WTF IS THAT? SHTAAAHP!

1. Just buy a torch, 2. Just buy a drill or Dremel, 3. Why is this of any use, 4. Just buy a smart dustbin, they're bigger and better quality, 5. Finally, the only good DIY idea, it's actually pretty cool and something I might try with my 2 boys.

there's a reason it's called DIY. Because it's fucking DIY. someone thought out each of the schematics and put in a lot of effort to make the stuff that are shown while you sat on your fat ass at home. either appreciate the effort or fuck off mate.
