I went with the crochet method and I can reassure you that I went through the journey just like everyone else lol I went through the frizziness, they got really puffy, I went through the shrinkage phase, and now I’m 2.5 years in and I’m locked up but I still get random loose hairs I have to have my loctician pull in when he locks up my regrowth. Just because they call it instant doesn’t mean the process is, it just means they won’t unravel as much as the other methods when you wash your hair, or during the beginning stages.
I started my locs with comb coils which was the best for me hair, I’ve enjoyed all stages of this journey instant loc method defeats the point to me. I started my journey to learn patience.
I started with 2 strand twist. I’m 5 weeks in. I LOVE my hair. It just unravels a lot. And it may take awhile because of my hair texture 😢😔. But I’m here for the journey 👏🏾☝🏾🔒
I did the 2 strand twist then let it mature then the ones that unraveled I crochet them a little and let those mature through as well. I had someone tell me where did I buy my locs. Rarely wash your hair and add a natural oil with water here and there. Your scalp makes natural oils.
Started mine with comb coils. I really didn’t hear you mention too many disadvantages other than needing to go to an experienced professional. My locs seem to be coming along fine.
I’ll be going with the two strand twist method soon, but with a full set of hair, because I want a full head of them. Other than that, I can’t wait to get them. But thank you for telling me about the two strand twist method, I am learning so much about them
Great video man. Initially, I started with comb coils. However, they kept unraveling with my hair texture. I then had instalocs...but they were too thick and loose. Going this week to try the instalocs again. Instalocs still have to mature, so I get to experience some of the journey.
If you have straight hair and use the crochet hook it will only look like a good loc for a couple day's. Then they start to loosen up and you have to wait for your hair to want to loc up anyway. It basically make your sections. 🔐a GANG
🔒Alright, alright. I guess, I’m on my loc journey, I actually didn’t know it until now. I did two-strand twists myself (wife claimed she didn’t know how to do another person’s hair). No worries, I did my own cornrows in the disco era. Now, fabulous hairstylist @Koffi twists for me. I’m at about 4-inches on top. Question: How does the new growth get incorporated? Do I just keep getting these refreshed or something? It is a 3-strand braid at root, then segues to a 2-strand. In other words, I will not take them out/apart again. Thanks 🙏🏾
On 3 years n 9 months with my hair growth my plan when my hair gets alot longer then what it is now is to blow dry my hair all the way and get skinny 2 strand twist then let em loc up when the time comes
