As a recreational basketball player, I picked up a posterior tibialis strain. I looked into orthotics to help me ease back into work (walking a lot) and basketball. Powerstep Pinnacles were a great recommendation by you! I love them and I ordered two pairs
@@AP-ie7ev so fair warning, I learned the hard way and reaggravated it two times playing when I wasnt fully ready. I’m almost fully healed so I dont use my orthotics as much. But the shoes I feel most comfortable in are shoes with a soft heel that allows me to smoothly roll into my forefoot. Kobe 5/6 protros, kobe 8, I have HefeLux insoles (boost-like) in my KD 4s
Best cheap insoles I've found are the Sofcomfort sport insoles. I've not really tried the expensive insoles as I seem to go through them so fast. One thing I wish insole companies would pay more attention to is comfort for the toes. Thanks for the video.
Game day pro’s are goated for me. These have literally brought my feet back to life. I’m ordering the regular ones for everyday wear as well. The vktry’s messed up my Achilles with the rubbery feel and stiff carbon fiber but the flexibility of the pros helped a lot. I am also flat footed so idk if that made a difference with the high arch of the pros.
@@KarlMusic it just depends. For me the full length carbon fiber and the material that the VKTRY gold insoles were too much. It caused strains on both my Achilles. Literally had to go get a deep muscle massage and cup session to loosen up whatever irritated my feet. Once I purchased the game day pro’s that problem went away. Now the pros are broken in and they’re money for me. I use the insoles to hoop in. I typically wear them for 2-3 hours. I think the insoles are one of the reasons why I’m able to play for that long and be capable of doing it all over again the next day.
I get the game day insoles for my 16 year old boys for basketball shoes, football cleats, running shoes (training shoes, not racing flats or spikes) and everyday shoes that don't have much support. I've also gotten them the superfeet greens, but they prefer the move game days. One has really flat feet, and the other has really high arches and wide feet, but the game days offer enough support to keep their feet from hurting, which is what happens without proper insoles
Hello Zach, thanks for a great video. I have two questions. The first one is about the PowerSteps, you mention "PowerStep Pinnacle Max" in the video several times, but what you show is in fact the standard PowerStep Pinnacle insole. You also link to the standard one. Can you explain this? And the other question, I've got the Move Game Day Pros and they are very good, but after a couple of hours they got really flattened out in the ball of foot area. They're like 1mm thick there and almost rock hard. The balls of my feet have been hurting lately because of that. Can you recommend an insole that will have a similar arch support as the Game Day Pros, but better (more durable) forefoot cushioning? Will the PowerStep Pinnacle (Max) be better in that aspect? Thank you
No over the counter will have great forefoot cushion besides the king foams , that’s more a feature of custom orthotics - pinnacle and pinnacle max are pretty much the same except for the heel shape so a lot of times I use them interchangeably
@@FootDoctorZach thanks for your answer. How about the Spenco Total Support Max insoles? The seem to have a special pad in the forefoot for extra cushioning. And the arch support support seems really solid.
@FootDoctorZach Wonderful video. Can you please review the Tread labs Dash and Pace insoles? If Dash (carbon fiber) worth it over Pace (plastic material) for overpronation and plantar fascitis? Thanks mate.
Hey Zach! Thanks for the tip of not microwaving the otrtho, and thanks for explaining that they absorb impact through heat not a problem just a thought. As a skater i microwave my shoes
I have to give high praise to an insert you didn't mention, Spenco Total Support Max, best I've ever worn -- and I wore Powerstep Pinnacle and Pinnacle Maxx for years, but no more. If you have Peroneal Tendonitis, it is hard to find an insole that does not put more pressure on the lateral part of the foot, all along the peroneal tendon area along the outside of my foot and underneath the outer foot. Powersteps helped when I had Plantar Fasciitis, but gave no relief for my Peroneal Tendondits and actually made it more painful. Spenco Total Support Max gave me relief, thank God. Finally. I've suffered with this for over a year and kept thinking it could not be the inserts, but it was. They were making it worse. I didn't realize it until a podiatrist told me to try the Spenco. Instant relief, after 14 months of pain. The deep heel cup cradles the outer foot instead of pressuring it like Powersteps.
Love your stuff! Can you review the "Spenco Polysorb Cross Trainer? My podiatrist recommended them to me for cushioning and support for all activities especially basketball.
Hello Dr. Zach. Question: the website description for Pinnacle max is geared to people who have over pronation. Can people who are neutral use the max? The link you provided also just for the pinnacle none max. The unit you are also holding I believe is the none max version. Thanks!
Dr. Zach Thank you for the video and recommendations but I need to say that the Powerstep offer great support but they don't last at all. I'm a tennis player and they only last me about a month and a half. The top fabric and top foam starts falling apart pretty quickly getting holes in the pressure points. Usually a pair of shoes last me about 4-6 months, so I would have to use 3 pairs in the life of one shoe and they are pretty expensive at $40 a pair.
hi. im a drummer and have a prolonged (5 year) stress fracture in my right foot from the bass drum pedal in the second and third metatarsals. i also made it worse by running. is there anything that you can recommend for my feet? i need to be able to play drums for two hours a day. i usually play high intensity rock n roll. its my life. i had switched to barefoot running shoes both for running and drumming and they may have caused problems.
I have had 4 back surgeries and have limited disc material in l 2 3. Every time I impact my spine I get shocks into my glutes. Can you recommend an orthopedic that is the best as absorbing shock?
Hey Zach, does the Move insole has a longer arch support? I just tried the powersteps today and it feels like the last centimeter or so of my arch doesn't get the support that the rest does. Thanks for all the great content!
which of these do you think would be best day to day for somebody with a minor case of flat feet that's making my big toe and the balls of my feet hurt? I'm out of running until September so I want something I can use day to day and for running
Currex made in germany would be a good brand to get your opinion on. I concur with superfeet and powerstep pinnacle have owned many pairs over the years very good very well made insoles! 👌 ✅
I've been using the Powerstep after watching your channel and like how comfortable they've been! However, I've noticed that I do wear out the outer heel on my shoes before anything else. Is there some kind of orthotic that you would recommend to help with that?
I play tennis, squash and pickleball. A while back, probably a year+ now, the PPA was running Ads for this orthotic brand Zelus, so I decided to try them out. I have their Pro and Sport models. The Pro's are fantastic, very supportive. I am notorious now for having turf/tennis toe on my big toe on my right foot ( I am a right handed player), and some ball of foot pain off and on on the right foot as well. These Pro models alleviated that right away and are very comfy, they have these rubber like cupped cells underneath your forefoot and heel. Though the downside is they are a bit bulky and slightly hefty and will change the fit/feel of your shoe, unless if you go a 1/2 size up and then use them to help fill that little bit of extra space, it seems to work out nicely. The Sport models are also great, comfy with decent support, I don't feel much of the tennis toe/ball of foot ache/pain in them, but it's not as great as the Pro's as the amount of the cupped cells are smaller areas and more limited. The benefit of the Sport's though is they are a little slimmer/thinner profile, so they won't mess with your shoe fit. Would love to hear your thoughts on them - Zelus Insoles. I can't paste a link in a comment or RU-vid deletes my comment for whatever reason. Now having said that, I just came across these older videos of yours, and first I've heard of these Move insoles, I am tempted to try out the Gameday Pro's because I want great support and the performance aspect for these dynamic moving sports, but with not as much of a bulk or heft. Thanks!
Awesome video! I had the superfeet green and black and they were extremely painful. Was disappointed at the price and how they didn't help much. The move GameDay pros is 100% the best I've ever worn. Definitely earns the top spot
Which of the top five would you suggest for max forefoot cushion and arch support (flat feet)? Lynco 405 was my old stand by but they have been discontinued and their follow up products are horrible.
Amazing content, just subscribed. Could you please do a video (or do you have a recommendation) on best insoles for basketball, more specifically shock absorption from jumping? I saw your Jordan 3 review and want to try an OTC insole to see if that'll make them more playable. Thanks again!
I'd like to see a review of the Currex AcePro, which they market as tennis specific. Thanks for the great videos! You've helped me a lot with my foot pain.
Thanks Zach! Love my Game Day Pro's. I wear them in my basketball shoes (Jordan 26's and PG 6's) and have had no foot pain/injuries since. I also have the standard Game Day's which I wear in my other shoes. When is your wife coming on your channel:)?
Another great video! Love the pinnacle power step. They are just so easy to get and provide decent support. I even like them better than a custom orthotic I had made. I suppose I wish they had slightly better arch support. I have very flat flexible feet. I also wear a UCBL orthotic in one foot and the power step in the other. I may end up getting a UCBL for my other foot but I don’t need it….yet.
I have been considering the Game Day Pros and the VKTRY insoles. I have flat feet and play basketball. Which would you advise? Thanks for your help and love your content
I honestly dont love VKTRY for any sort of foot deformity, they're a niche type performance insole IMO, but some people love them so you'd have to try them to see which side of the fence you're on
@@FootDoctorZach Thank you so much for your help! I have to admit, your custom orthotics guide along with your videos have been really helpful whilst I researched all the different orthotics that are out there. I think I'll stick with the Move GameDay Pros for now as they seem like the safer option
Try pedag viva sport. Nothing worse than game day pro. Foam on a game day quickly loses its properties. There is no point in buying it. Buy only game day pro.
Great video zach!! I just wanted to say I LOVEE my Kd 14’s but the only problem is that since I have a sorta high arching foot wide foot, my feet hurt after a while after walking and it’s in the mid/fore foot area where the pain is and I wanna say it might be because of how soft the strobel unit is but I’m not sure so I was wondering which specific orthotics can maybe fix that problem, if that’s the issue at all.
Great review Dr Zach, always given us great quality content!! 💪🏿🧠💯 Cannot wait for the review of the Li-Ning Bad Five 3.0 Ultra those are bad boys !!! 🏆🏆🏆
Hi Dr. Zach. I'm going with your NB Two Wxy V4 suggestion for Pickleball (will pass on my experience). I plan to replace the insoles. Do you have any experience with the "10 Second 3810 Ultra Arch Support" (previously the NB "Ultra Support 3819")??? They seem to check all the boxes for features you suggest looking for. Also, re: price performance, they are available in Canada for a few dollars less that the PowerStep Pinnacle Max ($67 vs. $71 & up). To get the Power Step Game Day Pro I'd be into $140 cdn. Your comments on the Footprint King Foam Elite got me thinking about the wisdom of putting an orthotic with a rigid footbed on top of the the shank of the Two Wxy V4. As per your review, that robust shank is an important design element, contributing quite a bit to the shoe's overall performance? Might and additional advantage of the "King Foam" be that it provides the needed support without disturbing the ability to get the most out of the shank? Certainly a wild guess on my part but seems to have some logic to it. When considering orthotics the focus is on how the features of the orthotic interact with the structure of the foot, to positive effect. In use, the performance in the application becomes a function of how an entire system (foot/orthotic insole/shoe) works. Might there also be important considerations in how the characteristics of the orthotic interact with the design elements of any given shoe? Just a thought :) al
Went with powerstep this year and they are even better than the Move insoles if you need more stability. The move is more comfortable but the powerstep is better if you gotta go all day. I’m using the pinnacle and maxx in my hikers and the pulse in my trainers for dry afternoon quick loops. I did just order the bridge and am looking forward to trying the softer memory foam.
@@FootDoctorZachthanks for the bridge recommendation! That’s an incredibly comfortable fit especially in a firmer construction shoe! They rock in Jordan 1 s!
What about orthotics for warehouse workers? Most warehouse floors are concrete and you gotta wear composite toe shoes. Also with ankle support like braces. Or would you recommend specific socks? I'm on the safety team with Amazon and we do 10 hour shifts, so I'm trying to find ways to protect the ankles and feet. It's common that when we get off of work, drive home, and get it the car. People's feet start hurting once you start walking lol... I mentioned ankle braces because they hurt sometimes because composite toe shoes are heavy.
Would the All Day insoles turn a normal (Chucks, Adidas) shoe into a Merrell/Shoes for Crews/Keen? I have so many shoes and need to be comfy for work, and just getting into insoles.
Have you reviewed the Birkenstock Birko Contact Sport insoles? I would like to see what you say about these and/or what other insole may be better than these. I have a high arch and my main concern is metatarsal support/ball of foot pain when playing tennis or pickleball. Thanks.
I wish mode insoles/orthotics were with metatarsal pads to help with morton's neuroma. Because orthotics isn't just about arch support and cushion. Unfortunately there are lots of poorly designed orthotics sold online...
I think I remember seeing you make a full video on the footprint insoles..? Or was it just this video. 🤔I went thru your uploads and I can't find anything
I could really use your advice. I'm 58 years old and a Security contractor. I wear Smith and Wesson duty boots a wear 15 to 20 pounds of gear every night while on duty. I spend alot of time on my feet to include walking. My feet hurt EVERY day. Can't wait to get home and gear-down after every shift. I NEED some very comfortable insoles in my duty boots. Any suggestions? Thank you.👍
A springy arch would be appealing because you do not really want to eliminate the Arch mechanism Movement! but it’s nice to give it some help also? I have over a half dozen pair of different inserts all the way up to $500 and none of them make perfect sense to me! Because I have Studied foot anatomy intensively! Cork and Leather are my top pics but I’m open minded so thank you
The power step insoles has insoles for actual foot conditions / diagnosis as the move game day insoles are just marketed toward making playing sports more comfortable and reducing stress on your feet. Surprised this didn't play a roll in your assessment. Plus possibly longevity of how long these insoles last vs one another would be some decent information.
Zach my 9yr old son is having a ton of feet issues what should I do? He's growing like a weed has high arches and been playing in kyrie infinity then lebron next gen all mens size 7.5 got him a beefier insert from local sporting g good store but not sure where I should take him or our best bet any feedback would be greatly apprecuated
What would you recommend for me? I’m 5’7 and 120 pounds and I’m looking for some insoles for my basketball shoes, I also have shin splints so some insoles will help
hey doc, i like the move game day pros but would like something that has more impact cushioning. do you know something that would be a good mix between the two? which fp insoles would be the best alternative to the game days
kind of a dumb question but the link to the powestep soles directs me to soles by powerstep with a different design, i also cant seem to find powerstep pinnacle max soles on the website. are they the same and they just renamed/ redesigned them or are they an entirely different product?
Great vid! I feel like this topic gets overlooked by most in the athletic shoe space for some reason so thanks for shedding some light on it! Another potentially interesting vid idea may be ranking stock insoles that come with the latest various tennis / basketball shoes and their quality or mainly lack there of lol
I have to agree on the Powerstep being a great value. Although they are not meant to be cut (with a plastic plate), I use a dremel to cut this to match my insole exactly. If I have to put some glue in at some point, so be it. The insight from Footprint was that if you don’t trim insoles for exact match to original, they catch on the sides of shoe and affect performance. Although I’m not staying with FP, that tip alone was worth the price of a set of their insoles for me.
