5 BMW Maintenance Tips To Keep You Car Like New
A BMW dealer will tell you to do tons of maintenance on your BMW, but there are 5 things that are critically important. I'm going to share those with you, and explain why it's these 5 things that are the most important and how you can stay away from some of the other maintenance.
We'll talk about simple things like your oil staying clean, but we'll also talk about why an oil change is so important for you. It's all about #BMW #maintenance for your car!
We are always looking for supercars and supercar products to test, drive, and review, so if you would like to see your car, or product on our channel, please contact exoticcarplayplace@gmail.com

I just forked out 1800.00 for a 3 hour recall repair. Picked up my car a week later( not 3 hours)and drove it 3.2 miles before calling dealership from my stalled car. It was doing that before, hence the visit to the dealership. I thought the scheduled repair would be the fix I needed, and the multi-point diagnostic scan showed nothing else other than a small oil leak as far as the engine goes. I did have them flush my coolant system out knowing that I needed a new hose and reservoir which I had already ordered and was in the trunk. I also elected the tire alignment which I would need soon anyway. I was trying to give them some paid services because the recall was a free service. This is week three that my car is not drivable now due to fuel pump. They already got me for a new radiator that I'm not sure I needed. I would think if a multi-point inspection was completed, a faulty fuel pump would show up. I was actually surprised it had not because fuel or air pump was my guess on the engine stall if it wasn't the recalled part. Now they want almost 1400.00 to replace fuel pump. Someone please tell me this is too high of a cost for an older bmw and that I can likely do this myself. I am a single mom starting over and need my car. My budget has no budge in it currently. 😢

In my family we’ve had our bmw 1995 3.2.5 TD since it came out, and the only time it broke down was because of the alternator that had to be replaced, apart from that we never had any major issues with the car. I believe the car is a limited edition ( I’m not completely sure though) since it’s a manual transmission and also a turbo charged Diesel engine. It has 230000 miles on the odometer, and still runs great!

The majority (if not all) of new BMW cars have auto start-stop engine, so after driving for 2 hrs straight, the turbo is super hot, if I stop to a traffic light the engine will automatically stop. That's how its designed, it supposed to be a feature not a bug. What do you think about it?

Bmw E90 M47 engine, 211000km so far, without any problem. My advices are: Don’t skip the service intervals. As a matter od fact I prefer to change oil a few thousand km before the book says, or if you don’t drive a lot you should change it one year maximum after your last change, use the quality oil, use the quality fuel, and do not drive it in high rpm before the engine warms up. Just to mantion that it is much better to drive the car on highway instead of driving in the city, this affects diesels expecially. Also you should wash and clean your car regulary, specifically you must wash it during winter time, when the salt is on the road, that’s how you should prevent any possible problem with rust or with paint.( Don’t forget to wash your car from below from time to time) Good luck, and most importantly, enjoy driving!
@ebayseller37922
@ebayseller37922 7 месяцев назад
You’re completely correct. I had to replace my water pump, so I did the thermostat and ALL of the coolant hoses, any O-rings, mickey mouse flange, serpentine belt, idler pulley, tensioner. I ended up replacing the boost solenoid, OFHG and OCH. BMWs are reliable, however American owners are not. These care are well engineered with maintenance in mind. Yes, there’s a crap ton of plastic under the hood. Those parts are cheaper to replace when they fail or when it’s time to service or replace them. They are mostly disposable cars in North America because most BMW owners cannot work on their cars and have to pay huge labor prices and use parts that have been twice marked up, through their dealer or shop. BMWs depreciate very quickly and it only takes a few deferred maintenance items to make an older car cheaper to replace with a newer BMW than to repair. All BMWs will need the following large maintenance items before the first 100,000 miles: water pump and Tstat, oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket, valve cover and gasket, plugs and coils, serpentine belt, tensioner, and idler pulley. If you have to pay a dealer or shop to do these, you can save money by combining some of them, as said in the video. Other general maintenance items include oil pan gasket, trans and diff fluid, brake fluid flush every 2 yrs, suspension bushings, coolant hoses, etc.

Hi and thanks for watching. Early n54 engines have rattly wastegates which sound like loose chains in a can or smoke. Bad seals will cause the car to smoke under boost or startup or lift off throttle. Other than that, hard to say as long as it is making power as it should.

Thanks for the information! I really wanted to get a used 435i series and was willing to pay for whatever the maintenance costs would be. But then when I found out how much it will cost to replace the turbo I decided not to. A local BMW shop gave me a price of about $4,000. My local BMW dealer gave me a price of $4,500. That’s with labor and parts. That is just crazy!!! For the 428i they quoted me about $2,300.

Not to be a dick but honestly if your are shopping for a bmw the n55 is way more reliable than the n20 if I’m buying a bmw it’s going to be a six cylinder it’s a must for me along with the m sport and lighting package

Turbos are not necessarily going to break if you take care of the car. The 4 series is nice car quite comfortable and quick but not luxurious.

Good, down to earth, common sense video. I just picked up a 2017 BMW M2 for $18000 and the first question I asked was "What's wrong with it?" The car as a dealer serviced 1 owner documented history but it has done 138,000km's (85,000 miles) so my first question was obvious. I know what needs to be done but it's a bit daunting because I don't want to be constantly be chasing my tail with this thing.. it could get ridiculously expensive! The basics aren't that much though so prevention is obviously better than cure!

1 reason to change plugs is to help ensure they don't seize themselves inside the cylinder head. I've seen a few that wouldn't come out of aluminum head engines after they've been in the head for 100k mi or more.

I just bought a 07 328iXI and the brakes are so bad they have really bad rust and I took the wheels off and try to clean them as much as I could with hot water and soap and a scrubber while I get money to change the whole brakes setup I plan on modifying it but like you said maintenance first before modifications.

No turbo on my E82, no automatic, no infotainment idrive system, no digital gauge cluster, no sunroof, actually built in Bavaria, zero issues. Ahhh glorious reliability. Putting thousands into parts, rims, a tune, lights, suspension, not because I need to, but because I love it & believe it will last a very long time. Im definitely rust proofing the underbody as best I can. My B6 Passat had many issues so I've seen the dark side.

Amazing advice. I was taking car of all those issues on my 7 series. I just took my 2005 645ci out of storage and I notice the oil temp always go to 250°. Is it suppose to do that. I been doing my research and I’m thinking of getting a low temperature thermostat to make the car run cooler but it also stated that during the cold days the car won’t get hot enough. Should I get a water pump and replacement expansion pack?

Brands will use the synthetic is better than Dino oil argument but I would cut BMWs recommendations in half especially now with hot running turbo cars. It’s amazing how dirty the oil is at their recommended values. I personally still still to the 3-5 thousand miles range
