As a 72yr old grandmother and a camper of many years, I can't buy any camper without a bathroom or fridge. I'd also hate to have an outside kitchen like the teardrop. Imagine waking up in the morning and it's raining. You'd get wet whilst making a cup of coffee !!!
I'm a granma and I'm not getting out of my cozy camper every couple of hours at night in the rain and dark to walk who knows how far to a bathroom or outhouse. My cooking space also has to be inside.
Most older people need to go to the restroom at least once during the night. I know I wouldn’t feel comfortable not having a restroom, and I wouldn’t want to have to climb around trying to get on a bed.
@@RiaSwiftHealing Ok, well maybe not “most” of them, but the majority of the people over 70 that I’ve known, took care of in hospital/nursing homes, and family did tend to get up at least once a night.
Believe me she needs a restroom !! At her age .... think about it a restroom run at 2am in the rain... she’s not going to want to go outside... Also crawling on her knees to get around inside a tear drop... I’d not ideal... You are looking at it not as an older person !
I can crawl, sleep without having to PEE and MOVE with the BEST of those people who are 30 years younger than I.! Sometimes, even BETTER. Don't stereotype women (or men) JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR AGE.
A very important class for those of us with vehicles only rated for class II hitches. As a 61 year old a bathroom with shower is essential as is a kitchen and standup headroom.
You should check out Runaway Campers out of Florida they have a 6x8 square drop with ac made out of all fiberglass composite panels with no wood products and weight is 750 lbs and starting price is about 5500..love mine ,)
@@saffloweroyl3663 yes we love it.im 59 and 5'10" and my wife is 6ft. We can't real sleep comfortably side ways for its only 70in wide..so we sleep the length way but the mattress does sit in the door way..not that big of a deal..others use those tri-fold sofa beds so you can't fold it up during the day and have floor space at the doors and sit on a sofa
@@saffloweroyl3663 just FYI we installed a king size 10in memory foam mattress and cut the side back about 10 inches so its all mattress. We just wanted to make sure there would be no sleeping issues after all most of our time is spent outside..we also installed a ARB awning with a 8x8 tent room to help get away from pesky insects
The problem with most teardrops is in most there is some crawling involved, the elderly like just about people of any age do not want to be forced to crawl, the only difference is alot of elderly would find this too painful and not just elderly, there are younger people with health problems that would find it problematic also. The funny thing is as a example let's use the shortest red one but it goes for others also, you point out the t.v., you mentioned a radio in some and air conditioner, it would be nice if they had remotes. You never mentioned if they had one, but say you were laying in the red one like you did and wanted to watch t.v. every time you wanted to change the channel, let's face facts that would get really annoying, really fast, I know your looking for your mother in-law ,so I didn't catch her size or health but there are a awful lot of folks that would find most of them unacceptable. Speaking as a person with elderly parents and in-laws none of them want to get crawl out of teardrop in the middle of night and hope they make it to the bathroom. Very informative video, but it left me more up in the air for a teardrop myself. I do feel though that some if not most are just a bed with a a.c.unit (very important in Florida, where I live also) but I feel they are almost all of them way overpriced for the size and lack of bathroom. Great video can't wait for part two.
Adding a pop up screen room to any of these small trailers would drastically improve the living space. Also could do a pop up with a small cassette toilet as well. And I love an outdoor shower. I have mobility issues and I think with additional space like a screen room, these could work.
It seems kind of silly to do all that shopping for grandma without her present. Anyway, I would not be looking to keep a trailer under 2,000 lbs as that is too limiting in features and comforts. For what we see here, the Luna Rover wins hands down..
I am up to the 4th of your choices and thus far they all suck! I am female age 66 just so you know. I hope to God there is a better lay out. They all suck! Keep looking.
I would go with a 6x10 cargo trailer. With a little work you could add a bathroom, kitchen windows and a bed. She would love it ! Still be under 1500lbs.
I just ran across your channel today. The A liner is actually junk. I don't recommend this model to anyone. The windows have major issues with leakage where the leaks aren't noticeable for a long while and rot out many areas. By the time the leaks are found u have major damage and expensive repairs.
Having been trapped in a very small camper for four days by an ice storm, I would not want to be in ANYthing that wasn't well-insulated and that I couldn't stand up in. Nor would I want to walk around in a crouch. I noticed no one gives much consideration to bad weather, which can destroy one of those trendy new "origami" type structures in five seconds. While staying at a lava field in NM, we experienced winds so strong we said to hell with the camper and slept in the truck cab for safety. As for this selection, once you're up to 17 feet, you have much better choices than those shown here. Grandma doesn't have to do without basic comfort and a toilet.
My Jeep is rated at #2K I've bought a 5x8 utility that I'm going to mount a truck bed tent on. I'm only a 55 year old grandpa but it's definitely getting a porta potty and some type of heater. Thanks for the tours.
I was looking at a 6×8 v nose cargo trailer to refurbish. Got to be able to stand up in it, has to have shelving installed with netting, a collapsible sink, a 2 Dr fridge, 2 burners, & a tiny microwave oven. A cassette potty is a must, as well as Solar, A/C with a heat strip, and portable see thru 3 drawer rubber/ plastic chests cheap from Walmart! Oh, about to forget the fold out cloth chair bed- then decorate with color!! Nice rug, waterfall forest with flowers picture, etc- and add a couple of windows! ☺️
Iaam 68 traveling the country. I have a 17ft Mini Winnie. I love it.. comfy bed good bath and a decent kitchen. One slide. I am changing out the plastic toilet for ceramic.
For the price and the towing capacity if u find something about Europe market like, elnag, laika, hymer, etc they are very light trailer camper with bathrooms but only if imported or someone buy from England. Take care 🙂
70yr old Grandma is NOT going to like CRAWLING on a Kindergarten Nap Mat "matress" to sleep OR MAINLY GET DRESSED. She needs to stand up to get those knickers on.
Great video Good job. I'm looking for a light weight camper myself. Looks like you all are having fun. And that's what really matters Mat GOD Bless You.
That first one for $19,999 lmao. That's a $10k trailer max. Wood framed. Wet bath. All cheap stuff. $20k is a joke. I bought a winnebago 2100bh in Feb 2020 for $21k.
Have you seen the price of the 2100bh now, It's $38k. We've been looking for a used rv for our 21 year old son. His budget is 10K and the only with 250 miles is 15-20 year old junk
Great video. I could never sleep in that unless I am camping. I am a full-time nomad since August 2020 in a 2014 Toyota RAV4 which I converted it into a mobile bedroom during the night and a work vehicle during the day to support my lifestyle. Have you thought about a vehicle as a bedroom at night?
Hiya! I'm new to your channel. This video popped up in my recommendations. Wanna hear something funny? Lol The first thing you said was "Grandma needs a new camper" my first thought was " WOW! 🤯 SHE LOOKS GREAT FOR A GRANDMOTHER!" 😂😂 Then as I continued watching, I learned grandma is a completely different person haha.
Mike I did that for a few years in the 70s with my daughter. Finally admitted I hated crawling in (maybe) without bonking my head, fussing with windows & clamps, and crawling back out. Couldn't sit clear up, always felt mussy & fussy! K! I'm done whining! (My girl did learn camping skills!)!
@@amandawilcox9638 Not to mention the many times in California that I had to move in the middle of the night when the cops knocked on the window and say I can't camp there. I think things have change now in California with homeless people pitching tents on sidewalks and beaches all over the place.
Little Guy Meerkat is the cutest little trailer… So lightweight, any car can pull it. Has a toilet. You can stand up in it. Fits in a garage for storage.
Have you guys ever seen the beauer camper? They are somewhat small and compact but at the press of a button they expand to 3x the size. Very easy to tow and would fit in most garages. I love their layouts.
As we get older we have to get up at least once in the night. You don't want her wondering in the night going to the bathroom. It is a security issue. Best wishes.
For me a bathroom is not a luxury. Also I live in Florida and No way am I gonna fight with ants flies and misquitoes to use an outdoor kitchen. So only the first one or the one that was a little to heavy would be on my maybe list.
I owned an Aliner S.L. It also has storage space under the bunk at the corner (must lift cushion to access) and under the benches. This model has no need for propane since it does not have a stove. We used an electric one. Also, had a Coleman one that we used outside with propane bottles. This was a great starter camper for us. Will not be able to camp 😞 this year since we had to sell it. Hopefully, will be back at it in 2022 with a Casita Travel Trailer (molded fiberglass camper). It offers a spacious wet bath 😉
I'm from the UK & the Second camper the Rove Lite 14FD is perfect! I'd buy one for sure & they will sell like hotcakes here, we have smaller cars over here so many will & can tow with their smaller engine size cars. The A-LINER SCOUT LITE won't sell over here for sure incl the FREE SOLO OG...that FREE SOLO ROMO will do well thou (again needs a freezer compartment). LUNA ROVER won't be popular. Great video guys!
Course it's a tight fit to sit on the toilet and not clock your head, and privacy is non existent. It's really for single campers who camp in the middle of nowhere, and don't want to set the toilet outside in a portapotty tent. FYI, there are bathroom pop up tents where you can set up showers and toilets and just stand up change clothes for people who use those cute little teardrops that are basically beds with kitchens.
Show me some more like the first. My husband is 6’2”. We got to have both air conditioning and heat. Live in Texas! Have only our Nissan SUV. So trying to find something 2500 (or less is better) to pull. See what you can come up with! Please? I’ll be waiting 😃!!!
Personally I like the first trlr yall looked at that would be my choice 4 ur grandma as it would be my choice 4 me or 4 my mom cus u don't want ur mom bending over all the time and really when it rains she will be cramped so the first trlr would be my choice if I were yall many blessings keep walking tall prayers 4 yall bless great healthy peaceful safe journeys travels and happy camping 🚐🏕🌌💪🙂
I’m thinking after watching many videos of campers, why isn’t a woman designing? Besides NuCamp with Barefoot? Kinda like the look but not the price!! Women NEED a bathroom!! At least a toilet. Cassette toilet. AC & fan for hot flashes!! Ability to proceed on own!!! Windows!!! That go out instead of sliding!! Sliding windows makes half of a window!! And no functional screen? Or blind? Women don’t want a cook top-2 burner is fine-in front of window!! When washing dishes, I personally don’t like to look at a blank straight wall or curved wall!! I do like 2 burner near a wall with backsplash guarding the walls whether corner or straight walls!! Gotta see kids when doing house cleaning!! Of course a NeeNee now but the concept of watching what’s going on outside is I grained in me. Even at the beach, I’m constantly looking for where the kiddos/my grandson is!! Whether pool or beach!!
60 yo female former truck driver. excepting actual tent camping, I would NEVER be without my own toilet. No gastric issues, but is there anyone who hasn't had a bathroom emergency? Plus getting shoes and cover up at 3 am to pee! That said, the portable toilets are pretty nice. Had one when I drove big trucks. No HAVING to get out in weather/darkness/questionable neighborhood
I drive a Smart. Need a FixerUpper. Boler, Scamp, Trillium or such that I can apply myself to. The cheaper the better and in the the worse condition. I live in the middle of America and will fetch it from anywhere within the U.S. (As soon as I track down a trailer hitch for my Smart. I watch notices several times a week. Eager to get started . . . Thank you for your consideration 💕
You guys need to look at Rustic Trails camper. They have 2 that is stand up, room to have a port o potty, and WAY UNDER 2K LBS. AND IN A $$$$$ BUDGET SHE CAN AFFORD.
OMG your talking about a 71 year old woman! She needs a a bathroom first & foremost. Give her ease, make it easy for here. Buy her a real trailer, NO TEARDROP!
The rove Lite looks cheaply built, and looks thrown together, it does not look like a quality unit, it is overpriced for what it is.TheALiner is not well insulted and does not retain heat in . The free stylye Romo is a step up in quality for theprice.the winter. The Luna Rover is nice quality but stilloverpried. The Mypod is a way overpriced bedroom on wheels, should be about 8k max price.
I'm fifty-six now, but I can still move around fairly well. I'm 6'3" and have the body of an offensive lineman. I drive 🚗 a 2019 Subaru Outback. I don't want to sleep in a tent anymore 😫, unless I'm in the canoe wilderness, where motors are not allowed, like in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, or maybe the Quetico Provincial Park. I still backpack too 🎒. I'd like a nice trailer for my Subaru. I mostly travel solo. This is a good video 📹.
Hey, can I buy a camper that my big butt can get in? I have a teardrop and I love it! I have trouble with getting in and out. I have a wonderful Newcamp... and they do slim doors. Love everything but that.
I don't think the video mentioned what kind of tow vehicle Grandma was going to use. If she has at least a pickup or SUV with a 2500 pound or greater tow rating, any of the smaller campers in this video would be okay, but if she just has a compact car, I would hesitate to pull the bigger or taller campers with it, even if it's rated to tow 2,000 pounds.
If I can't stand up, it's just a no go. I couldn't imagine being 72 and having to slouch down. A bathroom for sure. I think the lil snoozy would be great but that's a 1000 pounds over her limit so. Congratulations on your weight loss
The travel/outdoor shows are great for looking….but I wouldn’t buy from show. Even sale prices are over what you could probably get at the dealer. Also I would not be afraid of a slightly used one…a lot of people buy them and use for a season and decide it really not what they wanted them will trade for something else. Really good deals can be had with a little patience 👍 By the way….I have an Aliner and they really aren’t that hard to set up 👍
These are more for people in their 20's that can 'rough it'. Also- don't do a you tube video wearing "masks". I watched with the sound off. People- check out the Little Guy Max.
table post Are The most Stubborn of Non-mechanical as there are mostly friction odd set to be stable. breaking down become a muscle as the same friction took get it still now take fulcrum action to life the post out so if the grandma has degrees in mechanical engineering that the trailer she want...
Looks like she not alone she has a man it’s so hard for a woman to do everything she has help and I found being woman alone it’s hard to remember everything for this grandma
I’m a Nana & I ain’t gonna get out in the middle of the night or early morning to go pee in a public facility. Seriously, she needs a wet bath & ac/heat unit. Everything else is gravy. Try the Tab 320s if she’s wanting a small camper.
