Viral Vehicles Please make your next video when you hit 100,000 subscribers talking about it. PS, NICE👌 video and I totally agree that Mitsubishi has gone deaf and blind for the enthusiasts by killing off the Lancer, hence the Evo. BTW, try to talk in a future video about Indian 🚗 companies please because that's where I live.
TECH TOP 10 Basically confirmed their new suv concept is called the evo it's just a matter of if they'll actually make it or not. With how popular suvs and EVs are these days, it's basically a guarantee this ev suv will be made.
Today i saw a lancer evo X running down the street and it just made me sad because it reminded me of what they do today and that suv concept :( #bringbacktheEVO!
He has wrong with mazda because they will bring back the rotary motor and they already keeped here zoom zoom slogan. That why I love mazda they never change 😍
Saab never lost their way. That was the reason. GM pulled the plug. While they did have to use the GM platforms they did NOT make any rebadges (They had nothing to do with the 9-2x and 9-7x). Saab stuck to their shit until the very end
True, not like Saab never previously used parts or collaborated with other makes before GM. Using the Ford V4 in the 96, an initially triumph designed and built slant 4 in the 99 and of course the 9000 was co-developed with fiat, the problem was that GM infiltrated and messed with Saab and ruined them in the process
It's not the manufacturers but the consumers that shape the market. Times changed, nobody wants those awesome cars anymore. Now people care for safety, comfort and stylish design. Times of awesome cars are gone. I hope it's not for good :(
Nathaniel Bennett You would assume correctly. It's all about "safety" nowadays. Instead of teaching people proper road manners, cars are being designed to cope with aggressive driving and dangerous situations. None of this would be necessary if everyone obeyed the rules and respected each other.
I was expecting to see Toyota on here. They used to have the Supra, 2000GT, MR2, and even the Celica but now the only enthusiast car they really have is the FRS and its nowhere near the level of their old lineup. Maybe the upcoming Supra will revive their heritage but for now they are just a grandma car company.
But, Toyota GT86 (FRS) is all about handling though. It's never meant to be really fast car. That's why they didn't put turbo on it and let you modify it by yourself
Actually they did confirm an RX-7 rebuild that will have a rotary which, waitfor it...., will be used as a generator for the electric motor and I'm not even joking. -_-
The 1990s were not only a golden era for the JDMS but also for the whole world. You had the FCs ,FDs, EG6s, Silvias, 240Sx, 300ZX, GTRS, 2JZ Supras, the Sleighty, the NSXs, the Subbies and the EVOs. The JDMs literally downgraded from the 2000s tbh. Ask anyone about the golden era and the answer will be the 1990s when it comes to racing, drifting and rallying. And even though I love subarus I mourn for the death of the EVO. :'(
Another remarkable downgrade: Citroën. The 1995-ish Xantia Activa is a reigning champion of the elk swerve test, it has just about the highest cornering stability of any vehicle ever. But the smart hydraulic suspension that first made its rounds in the legendary Citroën DS and that made this possible was dialled back down over the years and finally discontinued entirely in Citroën vehicles. But PSA's loss is in part Ford Cologne's gain. You can recognise some of the dynamics of the Peugeot vehicles of old in the more recent small Ford models. Also: Lancia, remember when they made vehicles that were any good?
"Citroen was never good car. Shitty design" Yeah, so shitty was the hydro-pneumatic suspension of the Citroen DS that *Mercedes* and *Rolls Royce* manufactured it under license and paid Citroen royalty money. So bad was Citroen the Traction Avant was the first uni-body (monocoque) car in history and which is how all cars are made today. So bad is Citroen that they are the most successful brand in rally and won 9 straight titles with Sebastian Loeb. The Citroen DS was one of the most innovative designs ever. It had an instrument panel completely formed in one piece of vinyl. Revolutionary at its time. Standard today but Citroen made it first. You know *nothing* N-O-T-H-I-N-G Be quiet about things you have no clue about. Kid.
Siana Gearz Omg I'm so happy to have found your comment so far up. I'm driving a Xantia Activa V6 and the pure amount of fun I've had with it is just indescribable. Soooo many modern Audis, BMWs, Japanese sportscars and even Porsches went from jostling in my backmirror to tiny little toys after a corner or two. Unbelievable stability that even saved my life once, I think (dodging cars on the autobahn while going 200, every other car I drove wouldn't even come close to reacting like that) Though, I have the privilege of having my dad, who maintains Citroëns, especially Activa, for a living. Otherwise this car would be too expensive for me. There's a LOT of unique technology in this car. Other cars seem like lifeless Bobby cars to me. The most fun part - and also saddest part at the same time is, no one nowadays expects this from a Citroën. People have no interest in good cars/technology anymore. They just want the cool modern design and inductive phone chargers, it seems.
Just because the brands don’t focus more on performance models doesn’t mean the brand got worse, not everyone in the world wants loud noises and race all day🙄
A nice nostalgia trip but those cars weren't that good if you dig beneath the surface and they can't make similar cars today because of NCAP and emissions. Honda are still good, just more expensive comparatively which is why people prefer the older ones with the sticky brakes. The EVO's and Impreza's needed a lot of servicing, the Mazda rotary engines had their issues as well. The Pugs were just tin death traps.
Toyota, Lancia, Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Land Rover is my list not in order, toyota will be on the rise eventually, Lancia and Chrysler both only make one or two cars in their home country they are pretty much dead, mitsubishi like you said, and land rover because they’ve lost their way as if jeep didn’t make the wrangler anymore.
You guys are forgetting two things. First, good luck finding sports cars under 30k today. Most of them are long gone. Second, try turning a wrench on a newer car... They are so complex and overstuffed with sensors and electronics it makes your average garage gearhead unable to do anything except stick on Autozone stickers/Fake vents. Stock vs Stock the newer ones may be superior, but for the long haul and to an enthusiast it really hasn't been so great.
Black Jack that’s about the response I’d expect from someone who thinks they’re a car guy, but actually an illiterate Tide-Pod eating fuckboy millennial. Go ask your daddy for some more allowance kid, that wrx ain’t buyin’ itself.
All these companies give little shits about their race cars like literally they don’t really care about them anymore. The focus on other cars to help them self and the economy a lot better
if you know for WRC's Group B then you know Peugeot too ;) . if not, Its French car maker, quite popular in europe. As other said they have had great cars prior to 2000's and lame after that.
For me, a brand that lost a lot in the past is Citroën. When Peugeot bought it, they stopped developing new technologies and new car concepts and began making average cars for the average Joe. They lost the developmental enthusiasm that André Citroën gave it. Also, coming back to Peugeot, the new 508 is sick, not as performance focused as it's German counterparts, but much more appealing than them, even the SW variant looks cool.
This video is basically someone saying "uuh, companies that switch from building fast enthusiast cars to actually practical and affordable cars so they stay in the business are bad".
I would say Dodge is better than ever. Because of the hellcats, reliability is still shit. Ford and gm are dull though, but that new c8 Corvette is pretty exciting.
if your an average person that just need a car from point A to point B comfortably..you dont need this fast cars..you just need a fuel efficient car , with so many cars and all the traffic its really efficient to use a low power car that have a better gas mileage.i think that's where the car industry is going.they build a car that an average people will buy. it will give them more profit also..
I still love Cadillac but i feel they deserve to be on this list because back in the day from the late 1940s all the way up too the 1990s they had a golden age.
Hanna, but right now is the sports-car era for Cadillac. The ATS and CTS have definitely brought the brand up. Even if materials fit/finish isn't as good as the best yet, the mechanical reliability compared to Europes finest is good. I love my BMW 135 M sport but I also made sure I had an Extended Warranty, and have needed it much. Maybe you'd be better looking at Lincoln or Chrysler which haven't done as well for a long time?
Steve Quantie "the mechanical reliability compared to Europeans" So it's shit than because I have never hear anybody say a modern European car is reliable I heard they where nice but never reliable
Now when I say "most european cars" I'm not talking about all makers. I'm talking about most... Not gonna name them, not gonna rip into a youtube fight over a personal observation
a freaking meerkat yea but the last model looked like doodoo by comparison, ik the v6 is sick cause of the big power but you can’t never go wrong with a spooly boi
The new mk5 eclipse doesn't look like the previous 4 generations. I feel like they made an ugly suv type thing, and I can't believe they did that! Who's with me on this? So yeah, I agree RIP Eclipse!
@name name lol. When I saw it I was confused, like "that's not an eclipse", so then I Googled it and there I saw it was indeed. I was horrified, scarred for life! I honestly wished they would have gone in a different direction and keep the shape but modernize it like Toyota did with the Supra, and kinda like Nissan did with the Fairlady Z generations so far, and the Nissan GTR generations. But Mitsubishi had to go down the road they went 🤦♂️🙈🤔
my thoughts exactly... in the 70s - 90s they made the most amazing and beautiful rally cars (stratos, 037, Delta S4, integrale etc.)... now they're just rebadged chryslers...
My Patents: Dont buy such a expensive Car. Me: I must! This is the last it cool Car of misubishi! So I bought a 2014 Lancer CY9A 1.8 DID+ In EU the new Lancer arent sell :(
Agreed. This year's Tokyo Motor Show was just more evidence of that. No update on the 370Z, no RX-#, no Supra, no answered prayers for more power in the BRZ/86 or Miata, and no S2000 (instead an electric sports car concept that won't see production). When was it that Japan lost their passion? Their only good cars are also relatively slow in a straight line.
well... They bassically only make an ugly version of the Fiat 500, called the Ypsilon, and the brand is only used In Italy, i suppose i can only agree they have gone downhill, because every time i see a Ypsilon(its marketed as Chrysler here in the UK) i get exicted, for what is a really boring car, so they maybe should have had a place on this list
Viral Vehicles Not in Germany... For years, the Ypsilon has been the only one for sale here, but now they've cut that one off as well... In Italy, that's still one of the Top 3 best selling cars, though xD
Всеволод Алипов Lancia are the best company in history. I'm actually surprised that some other car company hasn't tried to reboot it. Given, idk if id like it or not, they'd have to do a really good job to make me like Lancia to fit the modernized world or if id rather see Lancia as a classic
lego technic yea indeed I'm a huge Honda fan but let's face it the new cars don't even have V-Tec and the "k20" used on the new cars like civic type r isn't a k20 on my opinion
What about Lamborghini? They used to make some sweet tractors now there making ugly supercars... Edit: Shout out to all the dumb shits who think I'm serious
Alessandro Tomasini cazzo la lancia andava da dio qualche decennio fa. Delta, stratos... Ora c'è quella merda della ipsolon, la delta fa schifo e boh non fanno più un cazzo
Although the Delta Intregale is one of my all time favourite cars and one of the most iconic cars of all time I don't think Lancia ever had a positive reputation. Apart from the Delta Intregale the rest of the range they offered was so bad in the UK they had to pull out of the market all together. They were ridiculously unreliable and began to rust before dealers could even sell them.
@@craigseddon4884 you are forgetting that historically it was not always like that. Before Fiat days they actually had quite a good name for quality. Also they were a hugely innovative company for a very long time and really their importance was far greater than their sales numbers would indicate.
what about Toyota I m a huge supra fan but now the only car that they manufacture I think is cool is the gt 86 they have went downhill massively at least in my opinion
The Ford Falcon is waaaayyy too old lol. The new couldn't live to the expectations of its predecessor, so it was a shame tbh. I'm looking forward to the new Torino, though is awful in looks.
I still have yet to find a proper answer as to why the Japanese automakers have generally stopped making the kind of inexpensive fun-to-drive performance and sports cars they were well known for making in the 80s and 90s (and early 00s in some cases)...
I think it's connected to the disappearance of 2 door cars, in general. Sports coupes used to be something that "ordinary" people used to buy a lot, but then when SUV's got really popular, 2 door cars started dying off left and right. There was even a period where Chevy decided to stop building the Camaro, only reversing their decision a few years later due to overwhelming demand for the car.
I agree totally with you, the innovation of japanese cars, approx. from 1985's to 1995s was incredible, designs(sticked windows to car body) , big glasses or lights, but when they were doing that the cars surface was totally smooth...very low sporty riding position, 16 valve high revving 4 cylinder super smooth and reliable engines, power mirrors, windows, very good handling and suspension design, very well screwed cars...the only disadvantage was awful crash safety ratings and very thin metal sheets at car body and cheap feeling plastical surfaces at interior....and peugeot at 80s and ealy 90s it was a symbol of sporty european front wheel drive car...after 406 and 307 i was very disappointed, it lost all the soul of handling and high revving engines...at least japanese motorcycles are still keeping their character and innovation :-)
AP1704 ML , why would you disagree? Motorcycles have transformed into spaceships! Just look at the Ninja H2. No one was doing anything of that caliber in the 80s or 90s. The difference between a 2005 and a 2018 zx10r or cbr1000rr is tremendous with all the new technology. Sure the power hasn't changed much but if power is what you're looking for that's why they make the bigger bikes like the zx14 and h2 now. Japanese motorcycles have just gotten better and better since the 90s. We are living in a glorious age of motorcycles.
I had one, try pt cruiser buddy. toyotas are wonderful reliable cars. pt cruisers are not. priuses bottom out in turns tho, but last a hell of a long time.
Where is Ford USA. They are discontinuing all their sedans and hatchbacks and they are trying to compensate for that by making these crappy sport SUVs.
@@boosackNooDoe wasn't it because of sales? From what I remember at least, it was because apart from the ones they didn't discontinue, the others didn't sell as well or something along those lines
@@endmeplzzz3593 lol, my bad for assuming trash talk. I think your not entirely wrong. I don't know the whole story really. I just assumed ford hurr durr.
@@boosackNooDoe nah you're good, yea I'm not 100% sure exactly why they discontinued them, but from what I heard it had to do with the sales, either way they probably could've kept a few of them
Definitely Mercedes. And yes, I'm saying that as a German. Some time ago, they built the toughest cars on earth (for example my favorite, the W124 E-Class). Now they've got a lineup of cars which all look exactly the same (and ugly, imo), they are copying cars from BMW (like the GLE Coupe) and Rebadging Renaults and Nissans. They are making some of the least practical cars ever (like that dreadful GLA and CLA). Also, their new models are just way too overstyled, with fake exhaust covers etc. Gone are the times of simple, classy lines as on the older models. Also, one other thing that's really annoying me: Mercedes was never cheap - but nowadays, they've become exactly like Apple: You pay a sht load of money just for the logo, for the lifestyle. Even if it's actually just a Renault Kangoo you're driving around in, with a Pizza-sized star slapped onto the front.
The Stig`s German Cousin - I agree with you 100% Mercedes have lost their identity. In most of their modern day line up if you covered up the badges many people will think it is a Korean or Japanese car.
Definitely Toyota, they made cool cars like the AE86, Supra and Celica, but they are only making one cool car, the GT86. All of the other models are just stupid slow hybrids.
Dirk Splithof "Stupid słow hybrid". U know that true car fan understands that there are different types of cars for different people with different needs? Someone who sees only sport cars as true cars is not really a car enthusiast. Sport cars are like a cherry on the top of the cake, but u cant forget the cake is important, too.
Ceiran AllenWright Which ones do you think? I'm thinking Kia, since their style has improved considerably, and they're expanding into the enthusiast market with the Stinger GT. Ferrari, while they've always made fantastic cars, they've really settled into making consistently good performance cars now. Ford has been really reaching out to the enthusiast market, with the off-road capable Raptor, the sheer fun of the Focus RS, the Mustang and it's Shelby variants drive fantastically if you aren't some 18 year old who got one as a birthday present, and the new GT. Can't think of the other two for now.
To be honest the FTO was awful. It had the look of a JDM car, but the 1.8 or 2.0 was absolutely horrendous. That shit ass thing was even slower than a 2003 - 2007 honda accord (in fact their quick for their engine, I've done 120 mph in one of them, 2.2 diesel as well)
Lexus LFA.. Lexus is actually toyota. So all their "sport cars" ideas go as Lexus. Since no one will pay for a toyota LFA, but will pay extra for lexus.
Except Subaru’s ascent honestly. Totally different engine and design than the competition. Interior is insanely nice compared to the competition in my opinion as well.
Ford's cars are more reliable than Mazda's. I know a person that bought a 84'Mazda B2000 in 1988, and had a lot of problems within a year. The engine (1970cc l4) was way too small, and the rest was ok. I had a 1995 Ford ranger 4.0L V6 with a Mazda transmission. The transmission was hard to put to the first gear.
1betterthanyou1 mazdas were good until the mid 90’s they started using cheap metal since then and still r that’s why they rust a lot I will never buy one again bc 2 years after I had my 2010 Mazda 3 it had rust already even around the fenders like wtf I had to sell it before it was too late bro I’m not joking they’re worst then the Jeep wranglers when it comes into rust issues I’m starting to think they’re also worst then hummers’ 😂😂😂 just saying
Farhan Said You had a point though. But, Mitsubishi needs performance cars. It's rival the Subaru made great cars ti'll today. But Mitsubishi in the other hand, had no more appeal, the mean looks of their predecessors are gone. And the great performance is also gone. The Evo X and the predecessors can be driven without any hazards.
ahh, the good old days, what manufacturers cared about fun and driving and not MPG. I think Mazda right now is kinda sorta what Honda used to be, still offering manuals in many models along with good handling (at least in the US)
I heard that Mazda is planning on releasing Mazda rx9 so Mazda is good. Unfortunately Honda has NSX and Civic anymore though new Type R civic sounds awesome with it's 300hp turbocharged engine.
Mazda should not be part of the list. They still keep true to their zoom zoom philosophy .....they are safe, beautiful, great handling cars... Drivers who love driving, love Mazda.
JAB Mazda is really coming back now. Especially bringing turbocharged Mazda6’s from factory. But I do agree Mazda has taken a huge dip. I like old Mazda better personally. I just want another rotary :(
You have to remember that Japanese car companies during the 90s made a mutual, not official agreement, that their cars were very fast and people were using them for illegal street racing, which people considered dangerous, so the japan car companies stopped making really fast cars.
LANCIA!!!! They used to be the kings of gorgeous raspy enthusiast cars, like the Stratos, Gamma, Monte Carlo, 037 and Delta Integrale. Now they make boring hatchbacks.
I own a 2011 Toyota Prius with over 300,000 miles and it's never needed any repairs! I am somewhat meticulous about following the car maintenance schedule for it, in fact I use a cool program on my laptop www.automotivewolf.com to monitor and manage it's maintenance schedule, expenses and performance. The only thing its needed was new brake pads on the rear. It runs like new and still gets over 50 MPG.
@@gintaps Why would you hate Prius's if you are a "car guy" ? I would think you would appreciate the technology in them like the CVT and regenerative brake systems ?
The problem is caused part by stupid customers and part by regulation. Manufacturers used to have a broad lineup: Small economy cars, mid-sized 4 doors, sporty coupes, luxury limos and a off-road / SUVs. But today, all the idiot soccer-moms buying only SUVs and crossovers and everyone else wanting "moar luxury and space" pushed the manufacturers towards making only bigger, luxury filled cars / crossovers and dropping lightweight enthusiast cars. Also, regulations force manufacturers to add a shitton of safety features and crumple zones to the designs making them heavy and big as well. Now add some "engine downsizing" for fuel economy and you have heavy cars without power! Over the past few years, how many former small cars have turned into huge piles of metal (Honda Civic, VW Golf, Ford Focus) and how many new small cars have popped up only to be "crossovered" up in size (Fiat 500 L, Mini Countryman)? For me THIS is the problem. If every linup had a coupe or hot hatch, instead of 5 crossovers and maybe they would shave off weight for fuel economy instead of reducting power, the automotive world would still not be as great as in the 80s and 90s, but there would at least be a good variety for us car guys.
If you mention Honda you also have to mention Toyota (excluding their Lexus division). However, sports cars don't make these companies money. Honda made well handling cars with incredible engines like the F20C, K20, B-series, and J-Series (still in production) to build their reputation. In the end, both Toyota and Honda make SUV's and family haulers because that's were the money is. Personally, Mercedes Benz and BMW have are far too unreliable. BMW makes great engines but installs BS into their products like plastic VANOS systems that are a reliability nightmare. Nissan would be a lot stronger if they did just one thing: got rid of their CVT transmissions. Mazda hasn't really strayed. They have the engines and platforms to produce some really great cars. Recently, they released a turboed version of the Mazda-6. Hell, their engines with 14:1 compression ratios is something that I would of expected from Honda. Ferrari, I feel isn't the company it used to be. Porsche, Lamborghini, and McLaren have stole a lot of their lime light. They're not really sitting the standard benchmarks anymore.
Robert Ocampo their gt86 is pretty good for enthusiasts. Granted no where near as good as the likes of supra and Celia but a very good car none the less.
George Gear they have the GT86 and the new Toyota/BMW Supra (FT-1) coming in 2018 or 19, though I agree Toyota isn’t what it used to be, at least not at this moment, and the new Supra seems to raise many questions, even though its only based on rumors, as nothing has been confirmed yet, engine wise. It looks great though.
Xenos Gaming Toyota 86 is basically a Toyota, Subaru's contribution is only the boxer engine. Scion FR-S is Toyota 86 that was rebadged into Scion, it should be marketed as Toyota from the beginning (in my opinion). Later, Lexus will bring new LC F to market
Almost all new cars are boring and ugly , the ones that aren't require you to be a rich person . That's why i drive old cars that still have style and soul .
GM has become the world's leading experts on how to beg for government bailouts instead of engineering great cars and winning customers. Even their trucks suck now. God knows why anyone buys their garbage anymore.
GM, Ford, & the other American brands (along with Toyota in Japan), lost their way decades ago & have been churning out boring vehicles ever since! It's no wonder so many sheeple want self-driving cars!
Its just because I have a 208 and it is plain boring. decent power in the diesel version packing a whopping 93hp........meh.... and I dont like newer cars in general. theyre too industrialized
You're judging the GTi version based on having a low tier model (and diesel)? That's kind of non-sensical. A 208 base model is a whole different thing to the 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport on paper alone. One has 115 HP (I4 1.6 Petrol Engine version), the other one has around 200HP. One has a Limited Slip Differential, the other one doesn't. One does 0-100 in around 6.5 seconds and the other one does not. One has stiffer suspension, the other one does not. It's like comparing the baseline Ford Focus to the Ford Focus RS. They're two completely different beasts (and not because I drove any of those cars, but because you just look at the specs and its one huge dead giveaway). They all do have electronic assisted steering, which I don't like really. I prefer Hydraulic Assisted Steering, and I do agree on current cars being too "soul-less".
You included Mazda over Toyota? Mazda has a full line of fun to drive cars, even if they aren't sports cars. Toyota has the 86 and that's it. All of their other cars, although reliable, aren't really fun. They used to make great stuff too, like the supra and the Celica and the original AE86
Dude, several of Mazda cars are just same. The differences of those cars are not much, just like adding some sprinkles in ice creams with the same flavour.
Toyota has Lexus too in NA don't forget, they're keeping it going with the Lmfao or whatever it is and then the Lexus coupes. Mazda has what..... not any performance car now? I miss the days of the cosmo and rx 😣
It's weird about how big the Gap with bugatti's timeline while atleast Lamborghini was just jumping around with company owners and ferrari (from my knowledge) wasn't really thrown around much.
Honestly, I woudl replace Mazda and Honda with brands such as Citroën and Maserati. Citroën used to do world class cars (Traction Avant, the mind-blowingly good DS for instance) and after the SM, it went rather downhill. Nowadays, they even sold their patents for the hydropneumatic suspension system which was pretty much their best quirk (I have a friend who owns an old CX and he actually accelerates when a speed bump comes, because it oddly works better at higher speeds. You feel absolutely nothing as the whole car stays perfectly levelled, only the wheels move). Nowadays, they try to sell overdesigned cars or boring ones with the same shitty engines that you can find in a modern Peugeot and shitty finishing like dreadful and squeeky plastics. That brand was always quircky, with some interesting design choices, but it did work very well as long as quality was there. Now, it feels just bland and pretentious. Maserati fares even worse in my opinion. Those cars always had some ridiculousness in them. Early Ghiblis were fancy deathtraps with the good old Italian madness you could find in transalpine cars of this era. It means they were a total hoot and are still pretty much legendary cars. This incredibly, has grim consequences. Nowadays, they are pretty much a scam. You will find the same kind of finishing as a Chrysler in your Quattroporte for the price tag of a luxury car. To justify that price, they will put their Trident about everywhere to exploit the most their brand image, even if the end product is really lackluster. As a brand, Maserati is something about prestige, and a little bit of craziness. Under no circumstances they should sell Chrysler parts within a $100,000 price tag. Want a sports sedan? Buy an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio instead. It costs less, has a better motor and actually better finishing. And it's every bit as good looking, if not more. If a "5 car brands that got better" video ever comes, I would expect Alfa Romeo to be there since they significantly upped their game with the current generation. And they also have the sports credentials and history to boot with.
Yes they have, at least in America. Until this year the only sports car they had was a FWD variant on a regular compact car, and even then it only had 205hp, basically matching the lowest tier of performance from other brands. Ford has two of the same, plus a standalone performance car the Mustang, and a supercar the GT. Now Honda is moving in the right direction, but still the type R is the only affordable sports car and is again FWD based on the civic. The NSX is fast, but frankly overpriced and over complicated.
Civic and accord are their only front runners. As far as the fit, crz, hrv, crv, pilot and ridgline, well they are lame and even worst is the Acura line that is selling the same basic shit as honda with an A badge and higher pricetag...wtf? 😂😂😂
In North America, Honda lives off its (mostly undeserved) reputation. Current models are unimpressive at best. I once rented a brand new automatic Civic, and it was a terrible, terrible car... Slow, unresponsive, clumsy, unrefined. It felt like driving a downgraded Golf from the previous reputation. No wonder Honda sales are a rounding error in Europe...
I owned a 2010 or 11 mazda 6 with the 4 cylinder & 6 speed manual. It wasn't very fast but had good torque & gearing. With proper tires it was a blast for what it was. New manual 6's can still be found in the states but they are rare.
