Your coffee table & floor lamp pull together well. Globe lighting is a vibe, great tips for cohesion. Fabulous images of chandelier & amazing kitchens.👌🏽 I feel like your bed gives Gorgeous Transitional Ambiance. I saw something similar in a boutique hotel in Venice Italy with modern classic furnishings.
Here's the first thing to learn.... buy lamps!!! I never turn on my overhead lights unless I'm in the kitchen. Or bathroom that, but even then I usually only use the vanity lights.
Oh thank goodness, Baiyina. I feel so validated because we floated our furniture and could not use lamps. So I have been looking for a plug-in sconce to add to the room. I love your videos as always.
I'm vibing with the wall sconce on the right for your bedroom, the tapered one. I know the globe one ties in with other lamps you have around your home, but I like how that one is a little different.

I got ridiculously excited for this video!! You might try a strip of LED lighting in your kitchen under the cabinets for a bit of sparkle. I love the example photos you've shown us this time... Very chic. I don't have symmetrical end tables/lamps either, in fact, I have thrifted vintage goose neck style table lamps that are adjustable. One is black and across the room the other one is chrome.
Lighting is everything and difficult to get right. Your globe suggestions give me the confidence to try them. Also I am going to do the plug in wall sconces on each side of my bed.

Firstly, do the globe sconces in your bedroom. So pretty! Secondly, I can't tell you how much I'm loving watching your process of building your vision in a new space, with all the real challenges. We've done a few moves in 3 years so I can totally relate to making a rental space feel like "us" when you're limited to what can change. I'm learning so much, thank you! OMG, I have an armoire in my living room and never thought of putting a wall sconce next to it! And there is an electrical outlet right above the baseboard. Excellent idea!
I think you should use the globe sconces because not only are they in keeping with the rest of the apartment, but they also soften the headboard, making it more romantic. The other ones are a bit too prim and proper (all cinched in like that) and maybe adding too many angles for a bedroom. Isn't that feng shui guideline? To avoid sharp angles?

Great topic! I actually dislike the only one light on the ceiling types of rooms. Recently we upgraded the lighting in our kitchen by introducing a suspended ceiling with several spotlights and 2 lamps over our island. But now we were encouraged to try a suspended ceiling in our living room with hidden LED lighting. I saw it in a hotel once and it looks gorgeous. LED lights can be very versatile and I feel this is the way to go.
Hey Baiyina, I have a question for you that's not about lighting if that's okay? Your new sofa looks amazing. I've thought about buying 2nd hand but I always stop short because I don't know where they have been/or what's been done on them /or are there bugs living in them pillows? Yeuch. Just wondering is there a process you go through to make sure everything's thoroughly cleaned? I've heard you say that you send some vintage furniture pieces to get lacquered etc.., and wondered if you could advise about vintage soft furnishings? Also, I like the globes best beside your bed frame.

I am so not good at lighting. This was very helpful. Thanks so much Baiyina! Am happy to say I do have a globe light incorporated into my bookshelf unit in my living room. I found the light many years ago in Switzerland at an extremely discounted price in one of the more expensive stores. I thought there might be something wrong with it, but no, I just think no one saw its potential back then. I consider it one of my best finds ever. Needless to say I brought it with me to the USA when I moved here and we added an adapter to the plug and changed out the lightbulb for an American one. It is once again glowing like a charm!
@@baiyinadotcom I have a small home, I don’t have your amazing taste and that’s why I learn so much with you. But I hide all cords either in the wall, wall cables covers or I glue them on top of the baseboard when they are white 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Excessive? I know 😂
@@erikabraga100 I agree. I cannot stand to see cords. I buy the white cord covers at home Depot and paint them the trim color. If the cord isn't covered it's all I can focus on🤔
We are building our new home and had outlets put in the floor of the main living room. This way we can plug in the reclining chairs, sofas, lamps and not trip over cords.
Hi my bedroom is 375 Sq ft. Windows and doors are in front of my bed. And it’s the top is angled from roof. They are common size windows do I try Roman shades?
I have a corner swivel reading chair beside a raised hearth (about 2ft high) that my husband wants to use as his reading chair. Is there an adjustable height pharmacy floor lamp to place on the hearth ?
My decorator is suggesting I hang my bedside wall lamps over the bed because my curtains are slide to the sides of my bed. I’m not sure this will look right. 🤔
Yeah, people just have no idea how to do lighting-- and just don't care. Yes! Ceiling lights are the worst! I'm sitting in a room with 21 fixtures (one has four pin-spot heads and I count each one), and it's so beautiful at night. My sister is probably sitting in her living room right now with one lamp on-- and the TV... Not loving either of your bedroom sconce options. I'm all about mixing eras but I feel like the very strong 70's and Mid-Century Modern looks conflict too much with the formal headboard. What about arstid or ranarp from ikea? I don't know if you want reading light or just some light in that general area. I have the very skinny floor lamp from Wisteria hooked up to a dimmer that I put on the night stand for easy shut off without getting out of bed. Regards from Indiana!
I just started watching your wonderful design videos. You present yourself well except for the lighting on your face. So speaking of lighting, please reconsider the light you are using to film yourself. It causes your pupils to reflect round white light. Humans don't have white pupils and this looks odd and is very distracting. Your beauty will be better highlighted with better lighting.
