I wanted to make a video that people could watch before going out to purchase a G37 or 370z. Hopefully this video is informative and helpful. If you enjoyed, please leave a like and subscribe if you're new!
I test drove one of these earlier this week. It was a G37S coupe. Genuinely the best feel of any car I've ever driven, and now, everytime I see a G37 I look on with envy, because that man or woman is enjoying something everyday, that I only got a taste of for 10 minutes.
Man I was trynna get rid of mine cuz I wanted more power but the more I learn abt em and see it’s truly a great car with lots of potential the more I wanna keep it, really fun cars I’m pretty sure the 350z is a bit lighter and better at handling same engine tho
I bought a used 2010 g37 sedan with 35,000 miles from CarMax a few years ago & these are the issues I’ve had with it. On my 3rd set of tires, break pads, new cross drilled/slotted rotors and flushed the break fluid at 100,00 cleaned the map sensors and throttle bodies because of check engine light but fixed. One tire pressure sensor because of check tire sensor & replaced one plastic coolant fitting in engine bay for heater coil leak. One driver side door lock cable replacement because it failed now the passenger side door needs replacement. Don’t get me wrong with over 200,000 miles it’s been a good dependable car that has been fun to drive.
Bought my 2009 G-37 new. I have over 140,000 miles on it and don't burn any oil. Around town I get 19 mpg and on a long trip on the interstate, I get between 26 - 28 mpg. It is a keeper.
I am considering buying one of these cars and just came across your video. Thank you for pointing out what to look for. You obviously know what you're talking about, and so your video is very helpful to those of us who are not knowledgeable. Thank you again!
This is such a awesome video cuz most people make videos saying common problems but most people won’t go in depth about how to spot the issues before buying thank you man 🙏🙏🙏
My g37 sedan AT has been very reliable for the past 4 years of ownership, it has 92k miles, I do 650miles of driving each week for work and it literally gave me zero problems so far. Never burns any oil and i change it every 4k with mobil 1 full synthetic. Super impressed 👌
Yeah they're really reliable cars as long as you maintain them. You can also have lots of fun but pushing the car without worrying the car will blow up
Had 2005 g35 coupe then 2010 M35 and g37 coupe same time. Sold them for Honda accord and Odyssey when got married and had kids. Now in my 40s, just bought 2015 Q60s with 110K miles on it and clean. Missed Infinities so bad and Im hoping this will last me very long time. I drive 33k miles a year.
I bought mines wit 136k miles 09 sedan.. my trans gave out on 201k miles slap a used transmission still goin strong so far wit 210k miles... am riding mines and maintaining it until the wheel fall off 💯
I just recently purchased one of these and man I Love it... the power, handling, smoothness, engine roots, etc... luckily I'm the type to research things before anything this way I know what I'm getting myself into because it'll save you in the long run. #TeamInfiniti#Q60
Thank you for a good video. I like how you added pictures of the problem part. I have a 08 G37 coupe. I drive it normal and stock and change the oil every 3K and it burns no oil. I have a Car Shield extended warranty $109 @ mo for Platinum plan. Covers all major components and $100 deductible. Good peace of mind if any thing goes wrong.
@@nickarcia4623 the problem was addressed in 2012, so most 2012+ models are in the clear. You can check the month in which your car was manufactured on the label in the door jamb
Slave cylinder went out twice for me! 1st time used another mechanic (they didn't do it right, ended up going back to Infiniti) 2nd time Infiniti fixed it and said they used more viscous fluid to help prevent that.
I have an Infiniti 2011 G37 God Almighty I love this car always have people wanting to know if I want to sell it I'm going to keep it until I die I'll keep it well maintenanced and have had no problems it has 93000 miles on it and it drives like I just drove it off the showroom floor if you're looking to get one of these I would suggest just buying it you won't be sorry of course you didn't have problems if you abuse the car but I've had it now five years and I haven't had a problem
Thanks for the tips. I have a 2014 Q60 convertible, and I ran into some of what you mentioned like the Bushing getting worn out, which cost me 2K from the dealer. Also, your Rear timing cover is leaking, but I have not lost oil pressure yet. Dealers are charging 5.5K. Something I am looking for a mechanic to fix it cheaper. I did want to say if you have an automatic transmission, I ran into that I had to replace my valve body and flush transmission code 65INZ95 DTC Po720. Cost me $4k, other mechanics were a little cheaper, but you have to remember that it needs to be reprogrammed, and I want the dealer to do it right. Even though it stalled, it took me home and drove. I drove it the next morning, I noticed you can drive it when the car is cold. So far, no problem after replacing it, and I have 114k miles. I drove it 85K when I bought it and it's been really reliable and fun to drive. I drive 200 miles a week get an average of 23 mpg and love hitting 120 speed.
It's the timing cover Gasket #1 that needs to be replaced, dealer said they found leaking oil on the rear timing cover is a sign that I will need to change the timing gasket soon
I’ve had my 08 G37S coupe for over 10 years now. I got it when it had 50k miles and now It’s sitting at a little over 160k miles. The only issue I have encountered is the clutch slave cylinder going out at 60k miles which was luckily covered under warranty by the dealer. I thankfully haven’t had any of the other issues mentioned. One other common issue that wasn’t covered in this video is the heater hose connection that’s near the firewall (bulkhead). There are two hoses that clamp to a plastic connector that tends to crack and leak coolant. It’s happened to me twice but It’s a really easy fix. There’s an after market replacement you can get that’s aluminum though. A second common issue is the sunroof drains. I’ve only had to replace the ones that drain toward the firewall (bulkhead). The rear ones have luckily been fine. The original design of the drain wasn’t very good so, on heavy rainy days, you’ll end up having water puddle up under your floor mats. Infiniti revised the drain design and is another easy fix you can do yourself if you have the patience. There are plenty YT videos that cover these repairs.
2011 G 37X Coupe Original owner never had a breakdown Only replace two batteries And I don’t think they have any issues . Still runs and drives like brand new Show room floor condition ❤❤❤❤ 120 K
Amazing video man. I'm looking to get a used G37 eith 150k miles😬. But the car fax show it has been well maintained and I'm ready to deal with the issues you presented here.
Thanks man, appreciate it. Yes, you're right the sunroof drain is a common issue. I actually didn't know about the heater core coolent hose connector issue
@@yayasgarage yea I didn't know about it either but it's a very cheap and moderate fix for it. It can save your motor. If you RU-vid G37S heater core hose it will pop right up
Just bought a 2008 g37. My slave cylinder went bad as I was driving it home 6h away from where I bought it too. Had to pump the clutch to get it to work so I can drive it home. 6hrs turned into 12 hours
2010 g37s coupe here, ZERO oil burn and never overheats. Solid car, 72k. The slave cylinder will be a pia for sure. Did the diff bushing replacement. Big job if you don't have a lift.
Sold my 2012 coupe S in 2019. Missed it so much that Just last week bought 2015 Q60s with 110k miles on it but one owner and very clean. Keeping it for a very long time now i hope
Heater core hose coupler break is very common and causes all coolant to leak out and engine to quickly overheat. Easy fix, best to replace it with a metal one before it goes out
Happened recently with my car. I was on my way to work one morning on a cold day, and I realized when the heat hasnt kicked on and was blowing cold air and my coolant temp was higher than normal. Since I was already working at Lowe's I just bought a coupler and fixed it on my lunch 😁
I have a 2013, and the auto trans would act kind of bad sometimes when bone cold. But it wasn't so bad, found a brand new surplus trans for $1000 literally.
I have a problem on my g37 i dont know how to fix it when i drive it i see AT check on the dashboard and i feel really hard hit on the transmission when its changing gears but wheb i stop the car the AT check is gone and as soon as i startd driving the AT check sign show up if any body have the same problem please help
Had the CSC issue in mine Twice, once three years ago by the original owner, and again just last year. Didn't replace the clutch at the time since it was already done the first time the CSC was done two years ago by previous owner and it would've been pricy but now clutch feels like it's fading a bit. Hate this design, terrible for repair and cost
I think my only major issue I had with my 2012 G37x sedan was starter went out at around 60k and rear differential bushing was leaking at 100k. Besides all the regular maintenance it’s held up fine. I use Ester oil so that maybe why mine don’t burn oil?
Yeah I’m in the same place as you I have an 09 that was rebuilt in 2012 and I keep hearing how unrealiable they are but this hasn’t been my experience, my only problem has been an exhaust leak,
My brother purchased the new 2012 G37 convertible and I got the new BMW non turbo 328i convertible. We're in then years with the cars and mine has gone through $13k in maintenance and his $400 for a alternator. On top of that, his has 140k Miles and mine has 46k miles. I should have gone japanese.
I got an g37x coupe 2011 and I never had that issue , but then again most people drag race there and I don't , I cherish my baby . I see dudes Dogg the g37 but racing it like it's a racing car
I bought my 2008 G37s coupe in 2010 and haven't encountered any of the problems you mentioned. You probably just had bad luck in picking that particular car.
I bought a 2008 G37 S automatic transmission for $7,500 clean tittle and no check engine light. The previous owner treated her right but the steering wheel feels a little bit stiff when turning. Also my power steering reservoir looks like it’s boiling the fluid making bubbles. I’m guessing the system has air inside.
I just bought a 12 G37 sedan AT clean title no check engine light. My steering feels a little stiff in higher speed too and fluid in the steering fluid reservoir stirs around that looks like it’s boiling but this mechanic told me it’s normal on G37. But if you literally see bubbles inside when you open the cap of the reservoir then there could be a leak. Mine doesn’t have bubbles even though it looks like it from outside.
Is it better to get a g37x or g37s? Which one drives better/handles, reliability and is the overall better model? Thinking about getting one myself don’t know if I want AWD or RWD and is there really a big difference between the sport model and the base?
I would 100% go with sport. It handles better, bigger brakes, just as reliable as awd. There is a huge difference between base and sport. Suspension is different, bigger wheels etc. Only benefit awd has is for snow but realistically you'll never drive ur car in snow. So I would say go with sport if possible
The sport has a firmer and more sporty ride. Honestly, the AWD has plenty of sport in it and is a bit more comfortable on trips. Really depends on your priorities. Both are great cars. At this point, get the car in the best condition for the money, you won’t be disappointed.
Guys so basically I was thinking of buying a 2008 G37 manual with 86k on it. The problem is the steering is extremely tight, like abnormal. Would any of you guys know the problem?
2007 & 2008 G35s are known for heavier steering. My 08 G35 is much heavier than my 13 G37. Assuming that the steering in the 08 G35 is the same as in the 08 G37 Coupes, but they could be different. Starting in 09 the steering was much lighter.
Hey man I have a 08 g35x I got the car with 147k now I have 171k the only mod I have is kinetic high flow cats and jms muffler delete stock tune no oil burning and I abuse it sometimes do I need to replace the gallery gaskets I’m sure they have never been done
I wouldn't replace it until you get a CEL or notice it leaking. Its a very expensive or time consuming job depending on if you pay someone or do it yourself and it doesnt always go bad. Just keep an eye on your oil pressure you'll be fine
Bro didnt even mention the most common issue in ALL infiniti's. LEAKING Water because of the 3 dollar firewall cap getting clogged. Before you buy an Infiniti, ask to check under the driver & passanger side carpet for rust/water damage. VERY easy to get to, literally takes 1 minute to expose & check. PLEASE do this, save yourself a headache and potentially being quoted $1,200 from the dealership for a known issue.
@@lukha225 keep checking to make sure there’s no leak , mine had a leak since I got the car and yet gotten it fixed , my reservoir is empty like every other day. Gotta get it fixed
Having a clicking noise that I notice a lot at low speeds, will be taking it to a mechanic soon and would like to know if anyone knows that this may be before anything
@@yayasgarage its the left drivers side wheel and it clicks usually when you turn left or are going in the left direction and sometimes you can hear it click slightly on bumps, its not very loud or obnoxious but its definitely noticeable and especially when turning at low speeds (5-20mph)
Mine is a 2014 q60s 6mt with 55,000 miles I got it at 45. I’ve had so many problems already multiple engine codes for evap system, mass air flow sensors, random misfires. It has a problem with the rear axles clicking, it has problems with the drivers side door/window. The catalytic converters are completely shot and ratting. And more this car has been nothing short of a nightmare
I feel you brother same things with mine my catalytic converters clucking my clutch going out have a 02 sensor 😫mine is a 08 g37s coupe I’m sell it to much problems
@@vq_slim.9369 That's one owner's experience. 2013 G37xS sedan, bought at 79,000 km in 2016 and have 175,000 km on it now. Less than 1K spent on actual repairs. Car still feels like a million bucks.
@@jacquesc3166 exactly , 231,000 miles here and I drive it like I stole it . Mainly just cat converter at about 100k and sunroof drains at 200k , that's it !
Damn idk what you guys be doing to yall cars, vq are hella bullet proof, I have a maxima that has 370k miles it's a vq30de, an then I have a g35 with 260k miles an they run like they were brand new lmao
What about the MAP sensor going bad and getting the P0106 error code? I tried cleaning mine, didn't work, then I bought a Hitachi and reset the ECU, error code keeps coming back. Any thoughts or ideas on how to get rid of this pesky error code?
I own a 2013 g37x and I do drive it insanely hard and I try to change my oil every 5k miles bc of how I drive but it recently developed a ticking noise and I was assuming it’s “lifters tick” I used sea foam to try and clear it up but no difference was made, I am going to try and change my oil bc it’s getting close to 5k but it has me worried and I’m just wondering if anyone has a solution. It’s not noticeable on start ups and I can only hear it when it’s warmed up and when the hood is open but it still bothers me enough to say it’s a problem
@@ivanbarrientos2665 2013s are the most reliable . I have a 2012 g37 sedan with 231,000 miles and drive it like I stole it . No major issues yet . About the only thing with good performance that is a better car would probably be a honda accord coupe v6 2010 + or v6 sedan 2013 - 2017 but they are expensive. They don't have the performance of a g37 though but still pretty solid .
I have owned 2 G37 ( 2011 G37x coupe, 2013 G37s on my channel ) never had any issues. Drag raced numerous times. Car drives like clock work. Regular maintenance and go.
So buy a 2013+? Bet, I mean im not a real fan of these, I just like the idle sound. Plus I need a decent sports luxury car to get around, a good street/highway car fr, until I get my M4 or IS F.
ISF is one of my bucket list cars. I would love to get one next but they're just so expensive and I'm not sure if it's worth paying over $30k for one. I think you'd be happy with the G as a daily driver
