Hey everyone! Today we're talking about how reliable my G37 sedan has been? Instagrams: _albertabraham jdmjunkyard_indey balancepointmedia #G37 #370GT #Reliability
i hit 180k miles yesterday on my 2011 g37x sedan. ive only done fluids, filters, spark plugs, ignition coils, and cleaned throttle bodies. it still pulls as if it had 1000 miles on it. I also drive it in manual mode everyday, no problems. keep making g37 content bro
I'm finally going back down the rabbit hole of G content again! I've also got a 2010 G37x and it only has 74k miles -- bought it in 2015 with around 36k miles as a teenager. Now that I've finally got the money, I'm planning on doing all the mods I wanted 9 years ago! Can't wait for the next 100k miles 😎
I have a 2009 G37 with 182k and it still runs amazing. I live in Boston I’ve taken it to New York twice in the last couple months and it runs amazing. I love this car.
Depends on where you live, I have a 09xS. Mainly it's been good. I'm factory with no mods. The early gen have the gallery gasket issue, 5k$. I'm in NY the salt will eat the car up. I'm just battling that now. 3rd set of exhaust(aftermarket oe style). Also if your in a CARB compliant state, the CATs will a pretty penny when you need to replace.
135k 2012 g37 journey sedan Rwd picked it up at 130k oil change serviced, did the brake and rotors whoever did the brakes on it before me stripped one of the caliper bolts also they tried to fix sunroof leak and failed with metal straw trick ended up cutting into ac line need to do transmission and differential fluid service hopefully it will last to 200k at the least
I just recently got my 2009 g37 infinity sedan I got it at 87 thousand I absolutely loved it but a month and a half ago one of the coolant hoses went out at 91 thousand and I replaced it and done an oil change and new coolant and about a week later my head gasket blew up which makes me so sad but I'm just waiting to hear back from my mechanic about getting it fixed I can not wait to get back to driving mine
213k Miles on my 2011 G37 Journey , bought it at 168k may “22 . Done coolant hoses replacements as well that lil “bleeder””coupler“ , fluids , added ISR cats , ISR Y pipe , org.muffler delete w welded flowmasters mufflers , Fan module replacement , all filter replacements , new battery , thermostat replacement, spark plugs , throttle bodies , my suspension prolly bad n a lot of other parts I say but gets me to A to B . Mpg be at 10-11miles getting to 200 miles full tank @ 80-90$
I've had a 2007 G35 sedan, a 2011 G37 2WD coupe, and have had a 2014 Q50 2014 3.7 for about ten years so far. The first two were 3 year leases, so no problems with them. The Q50 which has just shy of 130,000, is parked outside in a parking lot. My exhaust was rusted out and had to be replaced. I had them change all the fluids except for the diff (planned). I had an expensive problem with the brake vacuum thingee (forget what it was called), which was a 4 grand job. A wheel sensor which was about a grand. Tires, plugs, pads and rotors, oil and filter all as needed/recommended. It's not a cheap car to fix (by the dealer) but I've never broken down. Still pulls like new, no rattles, or creaks, no problems with the suspension nor engine. Someone busted my pass. side mirror housing and I'm seeing prices between 2-3 grand. Whoa! I'm retired and don't have a s-ton of money, so I'm getting a little nervous. Also some rust beneath the kick plate on the driver's side door sill. Would recommend these cars. A bit pricey but very reliable. Feels good to vent :)
Throttle bodies have been cleaned as well..transmission fluid changed...and last year new starter put in... great ride fun to drive and dies not let you down in the snow....
Good tutorial, kiddo! Im a 50 year old man that dont really know too much about engines except for oil changes and fluids. I have a 2013 G37 with 90 K miles, did little maintenance on it, nothing major, and it still runs like a horse. How often should I flush the coolant on my vehicle?
I have 2010 G37 sedan and just turned 200,000 miles. Still performs like is was new. Track run was 13.55 at 101.02 at the trap 3 months ago. Next fix is the EVAP for the rear canister and the Rebro bearing for the driveshaft. Already did the-map flow sensors and the plastic heater core system which to me is a major failure for these engines. Want to do a tune on it, but right now the top speed is limited to 147mph. My wife was able to get 525 miles out of a tank of fuel. So no complaints at all.
Reading this comment section has me excited that I'm looking at one with only 80k miles. I plan on doing work on this car with my son and teaching him. Eventually giving him the car once he can drive 7 years from now lol
I just got a 09 coupe any recommendation on what preventive maintenance should I do thinking on starting with the transmission fluid I heard about head gasket gallery or something like that not sure
@@BalancePointMediawhere did you get the paddles? I called a dealer near me and they were quoting me $750 for the paddles lmfao I heard maxima ones can fit on the G but man they are pricy!
I have a 2013 g37x ive had for two years now. It had 89k on it and was very rusted from being up north as a company vehicle. Ive done all fluid changes from whole drive train to coolant and 3k consistent oil changes. Im slowly replacing the most rusted parts, currently working in rear cv axles and the transmission pan and valve body while im there!
Same just bought a 2013 g37x aswell in Canada, and i'm dumbfounded by the rust underneath it lmao Power steering rack is leaking, all the oils pans rusted to hell, the differential rusted aswell. luckily exhaust line was changed recently and suspension seems ok. For anyone buying an infiniti in north regions make sure to inspect it under a lift!
i totaled mine going 90 last weekend :( make sure you understand that everytime you get in your car that it could be the last time you see her. I miss my g37xs sedan so much
166k strong always maintenance KD it. Major issue were spark plugs and coils and also cleaned up the throttle and mass flow sensors. I've had it since 115k, almost 4 years. 2011 g37x coupe
Where did you find guidance on when to replace coil packs (every 5 years/100k miles)? I'm at 11 years and 71k miles and haven't replaced them yet. Just replaced the spark plugs recently
I had looked up the recommended service interval online I personally am of the mind of just wait until they fail if you don’t mind pushing it. Sometimes they’ll fail next week and sometimes they’ll fail in 6 years
2012 G37x Sedan.... at 184,000kms and just got P0302 and P0106 (CEL) error codes. Lots of research somehow led me to this video. I just did spark plugs 10,000kms ago and I had no idea ignition coils needed to be replaced too. Now I guess I have to, with the P0302 warning. My question is, do I have to change all 6 ignition coils or can I get away with just changing one? Like you said they aren't cheap... I'd save on shipping if ordered all 6 now but I need to know if it's absolutely necessary. The other issue with P0106 involves the MAP Sensor and I don't want to buy a new one for $120 unless I had to. At 184,000kms, what else do you recommend ordering, replacing, or cleaning when I'm already bringing the car to the shop??
Is your misfire random or cylinder specific? If it’s specific try moving a working coil pack to that cylinder and retrying Regarding map sensor try taking it off and cleaning it with brake cleaner then reinstalling. That cleared the code for me
At that mileage just make sure you check your diff and trans fluids along with coolant. Then serpentine belt and coolant heater union. If you still have the plastic one def replace it
I bought my 2019 Q50 3.0t at 25k miles in 2020. I added a drop-in filter, ldp, cbe, jb4, e20-e30 blend, and now in 2024 with 90k miles, I've only done basic maintenance. The only thing I'm worried about are the turbos because it is on 18psi during boost weather. But, so far, not a single problem.
The heater union broke on me too. Only issue I’ve had and I’m about to hit 200k in less than 2k miles. The g37 is the fastest RELIABLE sports car out there
@@changly3582 if you say so For the money right now I can pretty confidently say nothing beats a g37 In performance, luxury, and reliability combined. I’m always looking and nothing else has all 3 And the vq37vhr is a far superior motor to the 35hr
from what I see as a mechanic, with these cars, they usually get totaled before they get destroyed with mechanical neglect. I find the 3.5 liter is not as reliable.
167k, 2010 G37. So far heater hose union and the hose. Steering rack, starter, intermittent steering lock module. Recent issue with the sticky dash. I was able to clean it with Arm & Hammer washing soda. It also worked to clean off the soft rubber coating on the steering wheel. I really don’t need the car now, but too fun of a car to give up.
Good to know great Video, I’ve Owen a ton of Vq’s five G sedans, I just drove 16hrs to pick up a G37 sedan 6mt with 180k very clean car no cracks on the dash. Clean title for $6k only think is the clutch will need to be replaced.
I have a 2013 G 37 Journey Sedan that now has 180,000 miles! When I bought the car used from Auto Nation it had 144400 miles! I bought this car in 2020 during the pandemic! The Car is Super Clean! Inside and Outside looks almost like a new car! Since then I have had the AC Rebuilt with brand new Nissan parts for the entire AC system! I have replaced the water pump, new battery, hoses etc. I have had the engine and transmission looked at and the mechanics have said that they are strong! My question is; if I just want to keep this car and maintain and restore it until it becomes a classic and eventually have the engine and or transmission rebuilt when that time comes and don’t mind spending money, can this car last for decades, even if I liked the car enough to buy new whatever it takes to keep it running? Are there enough factory and aftermarket parts?! If money is no object?!
Right now there certainly are a ton of parts to keep the car going the real question is will the parts still be produced in 20-30 years? I think the answer is most likely yes due to the popularity of the car. You see cars like the 300zx still have parts produced for them and they ran in the 90s. These will probably have aftermarket support for a while!
I have 2008 g35x sedan now almost 145 k had it since 30k second owner.. still solid... Redid front suspention... fluids..new ac compressor ..oem.. New belt and tentioner... hard to let it go but i have 2 cars in nyc not most convienient ..might let it go...
2011 G25x at 155k miles. Things wrong with it is the front wheel bearings need to be replaced, the front cv axle boots are leaking, and I believe the O2 sensors or cats need to be replaced because of the service engine soon light. Other than that it's been a pretty reliable car.
I think the axle boots leak pretty commonly on these but it doesnt seem to be a major issue Try resetting your CEL and see how long it takes for the light to come back. More likely it's O2 sensor than cat if it comes back quickly
Picked up my 2009 G37 s coupe couple months back 128k miles runs and drives fine other than a vibration when you really get on it and transmission slips into 5th only for some reason
Is it auto or manual? Have you done trans fluid? There's diff schools of thought on trans fluid as to whether or not to do it. I did mine around 140k and it made my trans better but some people say that doing it for the first time above 125k risks needing a new trans.
Agreed, dealership recommended doing mine at 60k because the previous owner hadn't. They said it shouldn't be done past 100k, but if you do it between 60-90k it's best to keep doing it every 30k.
i got my g37 at 160k miles and did a drain and fill right after i got it along with all other fluids never do a flush if you dont know if the previous owners serviced the trans
I just finished changing my engine over in my v36 skyline 350gt the real one it broke a intake cam at the sprocket at193,000km was perfectly reliable up until it shat itself at a stop signidling has anyone else had a cam snap
Change the pcv valves with your miles your overdue. Check idler pulleys, tensioner, and serpentine belt. Last but not least check by the thermostat and if there is dirt build up your gasket is no good. Oem thermostat and gasket is dirt cheap buy that and change out. Besides that your 💯 up to spec.
Had belts and pulleys checked when my coil packs were swapped and Wendel from Independent Nissan said they were good. Def going to check the thermostat though
The biggest biggest issues that everyone recommend are preventative maintenance on the heater union and sunroof drain. I had the heater union fail on me which was annoying but I haven't done the sunroof drain yet, that's on the list lol. Otherwise just stay on top of your fluid changes and consider doing spark plugs and coil packs together since they probably haven't been done at that mileage and they're 10 years old 👍
I have a 12 G37SMT sedan with 190K+ miles. Original owner. Great body style (white pearl exterior/black interior), fun to drive and a blast when you get on it and working through the gears. Corners.....yeah, it is fun on corners. Surprises a lot of people because it hugs the road well. Purchased it new but within the first 36K miles the power steering had to be replaced as well as the car computer and all four electronic door locks. Two of them had to be replaced a second time. Gripes beyond that I have are; the cabin does have a lot of road noise, traction control isn't great for an RWD 6-speed ( live in the PNW so winters can be a little challenging). I rarely open my sunroof because the air noise is loud and that damn unibody design drives me nuts. I've had 94, 97 and 01 Maxima's and all had the same damn chipping of the paint on the trunk lid and body by the tail lights as my G. Brought it up to the Infiniti service manager and he tried to tell me I likely chipped the trunk with my Golf Clubs. Yeah, right. Other than that, I will drive it until it gives up the will to run. No other upgrades. I take care of the engine (I sense the clutch is nearing EOL) and the body is in great shape. You wouldn't know it's 12 years old. The only add on items are a rear spoiler and lit Infiniti kick plates.
Thank you bro! Trying to get more G37 content out for a bit. Got akebonos and hi flow cats waiting to go on just gotta get the black Z sorted and sold lol
@@BalancePointMedia oh wow so sick man, I can't wait to see the video of that. I myself got an 09 G37 sedan awd. The only 2 things I'm planning on doing to it are coilovers (no more than 1 inch) and new wheels but can't figure out which to go with but I will eventually. As for performance, I won't change anything, love it the way it is stock.
@@palerider4629 Which coilovers and wheels are you considering? Performance is incredible on these cars honestly some good brake pads and tires and you're set after coilovers lol. Akebonos are completely unnecessary if you don't have em because we already have 2 piston front calipers from the factory on the non sport models
@@BalancePointMedia the only coilovers I want are Tein coilovers since they're made in Japan. As for wheels, either vors tr3, enkei rpf1 gunmetal or konig hypergrams.
2010 G37X bought it at 109k 18months ago, now at 146k . Starting to get alot of cat rattles. Needs alot of work but is relatively reliable. Just need bearing in front left wheel. Already replaced front right bearing a year ago.
@@BalancePointMedia Yes. Front suspension is clapped out, when I go over a speed bumb with 2 passengers it will bottom out ever time. Rides like shit with sometimes over bumps, I get a lot of wobble. I need new front struts for sure.
YUP. 2012 AWD Sedan. Got at 90K, now at 130K. Only problems was the heater hose (like you mentioned) and the damn sunroof drain! Everything else, take care of fluids and good to go. I am so happy. I used to look up videos like this all the time before I got mine. It has held up to its word. 🫡
It really is an incredible motor set up! It's a shame the VG30DETT on the Q50/Q60 is such a major step back in reliability. Makes me wonder how the new Z guys on the VR30 are going to fair after a few years
If you time them with a rotor, brake pad, and line service the conversion price is definitely justifiable but if the brakes don’t need anything it doesn’t make sense. The covers ran me $150 and served me very well for the 4 years I ran em Will probably sell for $100
@@BalancePointMedia I bought a full set of remans powder coated red for $250. I also sold my own full akebono set with rotors/calipers/pads for $600. Just would rather add a little more and get some functionality as well.
@@supradoom I totally get it I’m in the same boat This is my gfs daily driver though so I did the performance mods on my Z lol The brembo conversion was one of the first things we knocked out
@@BalancePointMedia yeah I understand. I just don't like those covers tacky imo. I think painting the oems would be better. But hey it's not my car heh. I got plenty people wouldn't do on mine.
@@supradoom yeah I mean I get it. I liked em because they helped with dust and didn’t look like they were trying to be covers. My gf loved em But they’ve been off the car since just after we shot this video actually
