Bro, what a nice selection of knives. I’ve introduced my coworker to the knife community, he now watches your channel, and he likes your opinions. I literally just shared this with him so he wakes up to your new video this morning. Thanks for getting back into the sub 400 knives again, lol!!!
I would like to thank you MC for taking the time to comment on the left handed viability and options for knives in this video. I really appreciated that, because I am always left wondering if a blade you review will work for me. Thank you, that was very thoughtful and I’m sure appreciated by all of your lefty subscribers.
Wow, Miguron is absolutely killing it with this new Velona. I had to double take when I heard the price, thinking there is no freaking way they were able to get M390, carbon fiber scales, and ti liners on a knife for less than $200! That is insane, as you were listing off the materials I was thinking that I'd be happy to see this knife wind up in the $275-$300 price range. Another knife that I didn't even know I needed lol.
I want a Padre! Had in my cart for weeks! Didn’t realize it was a front flipper which is a mechanism in missing in the collection! The arrows on images in right at the front flipper on their site. SOLD!!
The Ekko also comes in the stonewashed steel and black PVD steel variants as well! I've come to actually enjoy the steel handled variant of the Ekko over my steel Pyrite because of the front flipper; but both are excellent knives either way. Thanks for the post!
Already ordered my padre a week ago, still waiting for it to arrive. I think I’m gonna like it even better than my KUNWU Chad in textured ti. Also have the maxace black mirror, the divo knives buzz, and the We knives mini mallace. So it’s looking to be a good knife week, just wish they’d get here already 😮💨
What's the detent like on that CF Velona? The detent on my gray G10 and PVD blade one borderline stinks. I tore it apart and bent the lockbar in a bit which helped somewhat, but did introce some lock stick. Still SUPER nice looking, but that detent on the original was just amazing.
I need each of those! Minus the cjrb in which i already have 2 exclusive pyrites. But man that Padre, WOW, need the brat to go with my large Kizer collection, Miguron is killing it in the premium knives per dollar, probably the best high end knives out there for the money, and even their budget knives are hard to beat..I have 4 budget versions (the velona being one) and the v1 gladiator. Will eventually get the v2 in that one, man i love the gladiator! The Olone looks great as well, but the most cost efficient Reate knife has to go to the Giant mouse ace Riv. (I think) correct me if i am wrong because i buy all the Reates i can. Too many GREAT knives out there to choose from being the reason i own too many.😅
Another thing with Vanax is that it has incredible edge stability down to about 14 * per side. In "Theory" it can reach 62HRC. But it usually lands around the 60HRC range. I've seen some that have managed to reach 60.8 & 61.4 HRC but that was EXTREMELY low batches 1-3 blades. And I don't see much point in going over 60 for production companies. I doubt many people would notice any difference except for very specific testing. Vanax at 60 is just an incredible performing steel.
Sounds like you know a few things about HT...last year I was is directly with the makers of the Vanax. They said Vanax is designed to be HT at 59-60 and perhaps from time to time a few sections may come out at 61 with their proper HT protocol. If the steel reachiness above 61 it reduces the corrosion resistance significantly. Moreover this means trying to quench higher temps it is not recommended. It would not increase the HRC and lose the corrosion.
@@Augiebruntal Yeah every single Vanax blades I have had has been in the 59-60 range, and has performed excellently. Sometimes people get a bit drawn to chasing the high HRC in certain steel. Which is fine for some steel, but to reach the absolute limit of some of these steel requires a lot of attention. Cause when specialist makers try to reach the limit, they are often not only chasing the high HRC but also the very best HT protocol to match that high HRC (and almost always done in very small batches). On smaller blades.
2 notes about the Kizer Brat: 1. The stock pocket clip is TITANIUM. Although it is a new style (screw pattern) which I'm not happy about because I like to swap out my clips to the milled upgrade clips they sell. 2. I cut off the giant flipper tab so the blade is flush with the handle, and also added a thumb stud. Those 2 changes improved the knife considerably.
Been saying that the EKKO isn’t getting nearly enough love since the Pyrite came out. It’s a fantastic Ray Laconico design! Great stuff as always, MC! 👊🏻
Great knives but I love the Kershaw clash. Not the new one. But the old one when it1st came out 13 yrs ago. The one that's sold now has many different points of difference from the older one, so in my book should be considered a different knife.
must see spanish knives in aceros de hispania, at RU-vid . Nice, cheap and probably one of the best of Europe and all over the world. Congrats for your channel. .
Miguron need to bump up their M390 to 60-61, M390 at 58-60 is a bit too low. OR they should just move to a steel they can heat treat properly (S35VN, Elmax, S45VN). Or continue using S90V since S90V at 58-60 HRC will outperform M390 at the same hardness by a MILE.
When MC unleashes the Infinite Slap Works!* 😮 Also, dunno if I mentioned this on the Padre vid, but it does remind me a bit too much of Sniper Blade Works blades, but dunno that it's a copy. * I haven't watched any of the Fate anime, and just know it as a meme.
I love all of your recommendations there, sir, but you got me with the cover of the video with the blue and black and come to find out it’s not real makes me sad😂
It's just the way the filter/photo edit he used making the titanium appear more blue in the photo. It's just actually the regular bead blasted titanium, no ano, but just a filter making it appear like a smoke/gun-metal blue
@@metal_complex Believe he's referring to the Ohlone Goat in the thumbnail; he thought that there was a light blue ano variant and didn't realize it's just regular titanium and the photo is just edited slightly.
Edit… bladehq website had a better explanation: “Ohlone Knives (pronounced o-lo-nee) is named after the Ohlone people, the Native Americans from the region now known as northern California.”
Amazing card slap...if card slaps were munitions in the arsenal of democracy, that one would have to have been a cluster bomb! All praise howard dean, merica!
MTC, please comment more on how ridiculous and stupid it is for REAt to make a knife like and not make it LH friendly? It boggles the mind how stupid it is for manufacturers to make fully ambidextrous locks RH only… Sad…
I've been trawling forums, just waiting to see anotuer sbd evo full-size. Tried to find something similar in the $300-500 range. I finally gave up when I found out a friend was moving back into town. My budget this week went to his welcome back to town knife gift, and of course a filler knife for my collection. Now I sit here seeing reate crossbar locks. Where where you last week?
Lol, and the evo is an exact same blade style of many Dalibor Bergham designs. Look it up, then throw your evo in the trash if you care about any style resemblances.
