I'm used to larger, corded routers ru-vid.comUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.

I almost skipped this video because I've seen so many bad "# cool things" videos. But I'm glad I didn't, because you've got me seriously looking at router tables differently. As much as I've seen them used in RU-vid videos, I haven't really see how *I* would use one, and this shows me. Thanks!

I love how the height adjust on that insert. Do you have to lock it down after adjusting so the bit doesn't move? Seems like the vibration and pressure could move the bit if not.
@mikhail2400

Im betting he locks it down before every cut. I dont have a table router lift, I just use the built in lift on my Triton router but if I dont lock it down Ill sometimes find my cuts changing height. I learned the hard way but I did learn, Lock It Down For Every Cut!!!!

I have an old table router I inherited from my father-in-law. It doesn't have the possibility of having a bearing on the bits. It has a 1/2" shank and I have to put spacers to get it to about the right height, then there's an adjustment handle and lock-down handle to fine-tune the height. What do you recommend for doing the plywood/hardwood job on this type of router?

Note- if using solid wood panels do not glue the panel to the frame and be particularly careful not to get glue on the corners of the panel when assembling the frame. This is because the solid panels will expand and contract with changes in humidity and must be free to do so. The panels are apt to split if not free to move.

I router small 2x3 pieces of wood only 3/16th deep. Its just the end that I cut out. So its 1x2 inches by 3/16 deep, shaped somewhat like an Omega ( The omega sign or horse shoe shape stays) sign on one end of this wood. Its such little cutting I use a drill press. Also because I need to see what I am cutting. I been using a 1/4" straight bit in the drill press. It works ok but would like to try a router and table. How would I do this with a router and router table? I cant see the cutting, to know how to shape the Omega sign ( again its the closet way to describe what shape I am cutting). The depth is very important. . Making a jig would be difficult and the depth will change with different pieces that I cut. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hi Guy- this is very helpful. Wondering what kind of wood did you use for the raised panel? I’m having a hard time finding solid wood in a width wide enough for the panel. Was it actually separate boards edge-glued together? I know plywood is also an option....but I’d rather solid hardwood if I can find it. Thx.
