Had my gastric sleeve about 3 days ago and it’s so depressing at the moment just can’t wait to recover. Appreciate these videos as watched a few before the big op and I knew it would have a mental toll … Can’t wait to be “normal”
My best advice is, and it a bit of hard truth. We’ll never be normal. Ever. We’ve had 80% of our stomach removed, what we can do tho, is accept what is and adjust to it :) Won’t happen overnight but it’ll soon be everyday life for you.
Im 3 days out too! My mobility etc is fine, I’ve gone out walking to a tourist attraction (I had it done in Turkey). But I feel so much different it’s weird :/ how are you now?
just came across the comments so it’s been 4 months now! It was super hard at first mentally and physically felt weak but now I regularly speak to dietitian who’s been amazing. I make effort to eat small amounts every few hours to get calories in so I don’t become weak… I’m much happier now and 4 stones down!
Had surgery 3/9/22 and ive been extremely weak and lightheaded lately. Finding youtube videos like this really help especially in the early stage. I think everyone goes through this terrible "buyers remorse" stage but we have to remember, this too shall pass. Thanks for the video!
Hey man cheers for the comment! Means a lot! Yep, the first few weeks can be rough, but if you’re concerned then speak to your team. You may not be getting enough in. Don’t leave it too late to speak to them too. Keep at it, you’ll feel better the more you get used to your new lifestyle :)
And also u should have made it 6 crucial tips for immediately after gastric sleeve surgery. #1 being to never trust a fart, especially during the liquid diet phase.
I have my schedule on March 13. At first doctor highly suggested to have the gastric bypass. Upon waiting for my C peptide now he told me I just need to do the gastric sleeve. I am anxious as the day goes by but wiling to do it for my lifestyle change. I just hope I can take care of myself without help after 4 days of surgery. Need to stay in Malaysia for few days for the follow up check up that is needed while my sister flies back to Philippines. I pray that I can deal it on my own. By watching your videos I get a bit of information to what I should expect in my journey. I pray that I can be determined like you guys who wen through this journey already. God bless

Totally agree! I am just shy of 2 years post op and have lost 112 pounds hitting my goal weigh just after my 1 year mark. I love sharing my journey! My hope is that if I can help support just one person in their journey then my story has served it's purpose. I just subscribed to your channel 😎

Ok, John. I just finished day 1. Anesthesia keep knocking me out. Although, II didn't stay in bed. I sat with my family. Walked around the house ina circuit, because we have high winds and it's cold. Getting anything down in my stomach was a bit of a challenge. Let's start Day 2!

Were you in hospital for a couple days? Did you drive? I live about 45mins from the hospital and I’m more stressed about driving/parking than the actual surgery 😅😹😹
I’m going on my second week of my liquid diet (pre-op) and I had to go to the grocery store for my family and that was extremely hard. I already know that’s going to be a mental hurdle. In the meantime I’ll be doing online pick up.
Hi Liliana! I went on my surgeons recommended procedure, he said I would benefit most from the sleeve so I trusted him to make the right decision. I weight myself every week. Just to keep an eye on what’s happening
How do you deal with the mental hunger. The physical hunger isn’t present but when I see my family eating I want to eat like I use to. How do you deal with that?

My surgery is ONE WEEK AWAY ( next Tuesday). I feel like I should be okay. I live alone so I won’t have any foods in the house, and I have lots of hobbies to occupy myself. Mostly I’m worried about the pain but i hope it won’t be too unbearable.

@@rosauraaguilar5270 Hi 👋 ☺️ It depends on your pain threshold.. I personally didn't find it so painful post surgery but saying that I was on pain relief medication post op. Patience and good support around you will help your post op recovery immensely 👍🙏
@@shaks6775 I’m gonna tell you this… Your cravings may well creep in, it happens a lot to people and it happened and still does happen to me… The key however is to be mentally strong, adapt, learn to master and control them when they do arise. Head hunger is also real. Apply yourself, stay strong and you will be absolutely more than fine :)
Wounds are all personal. They could take 2-3-4 weeks. your stomach will take longer to heal but I never felt any pain from my stomach at all. I also had staples!

I wasn’t given much time to get my head around this was given the date for surgery last week ( will be the 26th of April) and told to start the pre op diet straight away I’m on day 5 was told if I can get through the first 3 days I’ll be right but today I really struggled 😢 is it going to get worse ? I’m worrying my self sick

Hey, can you answer a question for me. I'm still not on the waiting list but will be in January then it will be a year, I've lost 2 and a half stone since January this year but they now saying I can't really lose much more because my BMI still has to be over 40 to be eligible for surgery. Once you get on the surgery list are you then still allowed to continue to lose weight until you get surgery. I honestly believe maintaining it is much harder than losing it thanks for your time x
Hi faith. I find this strange. I never got told to lost weight before surgery. Or maintain or lose a certain percentage. It’s crazy to me. But if that’s what you have to do then without a doubt do it. Sound like maintaining would be your best bet to get your surgery. That’s my opinion anyway :)
Hi bud, Found the video really useful I’m 3 days post op, One of my fears is loosing to much weight as crazy as that sounds I’m 6 ft 2 thick set and want to loose around 6 stone is there anyway I can maintain once I reach my goal ? Or will it keep coming off? Thanks man!

Hair loss is normal and it will go back. And alcohol, like seriously bruv ? After all that you've been through, do you really wanna take that route again. You can do better mate! Consider this as a second life

Hey John: I just came across your video. Today is May 23 2022, just got my surgery date July 11. My birthday is June 24, I'll be 55. Last hoo ra, pre op apt is June 23, be on clears June 27. I need to lose 120 lbs minimum to get a new knee (with torn meniscus as well), and I need an opposite ankle. Been battling weight all my life, I've managed to get myself to 410 lbs. Everyday life is getting in the way of living. Tack on that I can't walk makes it worse. Hoping this will be my last battle with my weight, I'm digging in for a long fought battle too. How's your progress going?

@@klking2580 John thanks for reaching out, I'm 3 days post op, all is going great. Able to keep broth, jello, shakes, water down without a problem. Minimal pain, but the gas pockets, Wow the pain from that wasn't pleasant. Got up walking nite of surgery, and walked on my own 3 times the nite I stayed in hospital. Everyone was impressed as to how I was handling my intake, pain, and overall demeanor. Came home on Tuesday evening, had some pain getting in and out of bed, other than that not much more. Yesterday Wednesday I walked around my parking lot 4 times during the day 5 mins each time. Today I've been twice. So I had a very positive procedure, now it's time to let my new tool work for me and let the pounds melt away. Glad to hear from you, thank you for your support. Keep in touch.
Hey, I had a sleeve 2 month ago. It weird loosing weight and realize your clothes are loosening. I lost 1 size of pants already. It is weird to not turn to food to feel better. I have to find new healthy ways now or I will not succeed in the long run. But it's such a pain. 😩 Big work now equal better health for the rest of your life. 😆

I’m still trying to figure out how to work with my post surgery body and still do what I need to around the house and for my family. I really struggle with FOMO and I feel like missing anything at home/work/with family will just show people that they don’t need me around. Thank you again for your content. Hi. I didn’t really track it weekly. I do know I lost a very considerable amount quickly. I’d lost 5 stone at around 4 month post op. I’m currently at almost 13 stone loss
I’m at about 18.571 stone right now and I’m about to set my appointment for the gastric sleeve. I’ve been spending about 4 hours everyday for the past 22 days and I haven’t seen a change. I don’t even drink soda, smoke or drink. Most of the time is water. So I’m really nervous but excited at the same time. I’ve been trying many times but this time I’ve been more consistent to loose weight.
