Hey Steph, I must be honest I never thought about your weight when watching the videos I just loved watching a young person talking about classic cars, also another thing that drew me to your channel is your look, very retro! It must have been hard for you reading disgusting comments, and I always feel those people have more issues going on with themselves which might be a tool to use in the future if you get a crappie comment. All I can say is you're an amazing person and speaking for myself, it warms my heart when I see your passion for old classics and if you could bottle your passion you would be rich beyond belief. I hate that people were so cruel to you. There are a lot of ignorant people out there. Your aunt Ash is a saint, but you were the one that had to go through the mill. This will be a great life changer for you.

I know my issues are nothing compered to yours but, as a disabled 40 year old male, I struggle with confidence and this video sort of highlights that for me. I had groin surgery in 1989 and on my legs in 1994 to help me walk. I understand the emotions that come with this and it feels dreadful that your thoughts are that people laugh and point or wispar, but you are what and who you are and no one can take that away. So thankyou for the video and it helped me ease my depression. Wish you luck and happy, SAFE driving.

I have had no teeth for three years and as a performer (singer) my career and my life was over, but an anonymous person has given the money for dentures - soooooo grateful! Many of us only survive because of the kindness of others. Even kind words can help us through another day.

Your post operation experiences are a bit of a revelation for me; I never realised the physical and mental after effects of such surgery. So often the image we have of ourselves is shaped by others, well done for liberating yourself from that mindset. Steph, I've watched your journey on Twitter, and I honestly think you're an incredibly brave person. Taking charge of your life when it feels like it's falling apart is the hardest thing ever, but you did it and stuck with it, and been open and honest about how it's affected you good and bad. You have done the right thing for you, your loved ones and your future - not them. Your former appearance was none of their business, nor indeed mine, which is why I would never have referenced it. You have advanced skills in the fields of car design and mechanics, film presenting and editing and - it transpires - dressmaking! I'd like to bet they do nothing other than just watch videos all day! I've always enjoyed your videos, but have often seen some fairly troubling comments regarding your appearance - some downright creepy. Even though lots of people give really positive feedback, those negative & creepy comments are hard to forget. So well done for keeping going at all! Congratulations on all the positive steps forward & for having the conviction to take action & speak out. It's so heartbreaking to hear of anyone at such a low ebb, so honest stories of recovery are so vital for the benefit of others. I stumbled across your channel about a year ago as I'm a car geek and love classics, I was interested as it was presented by a young person, and I found it entertaining as I remember quite a few of the cars when they were new (showing my age 😁) and the fact you have the passion for older cars. I never saw you as fat or overweight, just someone who has confidence to be in front of the camera discussing cars. Ignore the keyboard warriors, who don't have a clue about personal circumstances and wouldn't have the bottle to face you or get in front of a camera. I've known several people who've had gastric surgery and I was aware of some of the issues, not because they talked about it so much as that's what went down and eventually the details came out. I enjoy your car channel, that's what brought me to you, and now I feel I'll enjoy them even more having gotten to know you a little more. Honesty granted; I appreciate the clarity of your delivery. As an American I know very little about British and European cars and you have a great mix of research, historical explanation, joy of the cars, and your channel is completely different than the rest that are out there. (As we say in New York) you did a good thing.

Steph I think you are amazing and always have been. Your honesty is a tonic to me having suffered with mental health issues for a number of years. I never struggeled with weight myself but you brought that stigmatized topic to a lot of car guys that otherwise wouldn't have thought about it or felt maybe ashamed or similar. I love your content, it encouraged me in the past to drive my old cars more often.
