Hey Billy, Its just another one of these videos, where you might consider to tell when the feature is ONLY avaible in the Studio Version.... For Example as a free version user, there is no surface tracker. But by not knowing this and watching your video, I just opened up davinci resolve in order to do it like you showed, just to notice, that there is no surface tracker.... so, disappointment kicks in.... in that case, its not that much, since there is a planar tracker and the general tracker, but you get what i mean...other than that is the depth map since there is nothing compareable in the free version... so please, in the future, mention for which version it is in order to avoid those situations.

Would love to see some videos about creating effects/content for projection mapping that are based on a specific building. Like say you grabbed some footage of your house from the street. How then do you make that specific house dance, swell, crumble apart, twist, etc. IOW how you animate specific architecture?
@@duncancampbellcreative you can use a camera node and set a video-node or image node as input to the camera. Than the camera works like a projector/beamer.
Based on the learning curve of Fusion, I now do all my editing and coloring in Resolve. I will export it as a ProRes file to Premiere, use Auto-Scene cut detection then use Dynamic link to After Effects for all my VFX work. It adds about 10 minutes total to each project but it works. I watched all your tutorials, Jamie Fenns, Casey Ferris and I still can't get over the steep Fusion learning curve.
I am loving the proxy generator. I use it to shrink source footage for long term storage. Took a 65gb braw clip down to like 4gb. Quality is still really good.

Hey Billy, the notes with the alpha channel and the masks on it are before or after ever note for color grading? I’ve seen so many Tutorials where you only see this one note for masking but jot an actual note tree with the complete stuff incl. the color grading notes
Would be nice to see an extra video on "temi" and "descript". Never heard of it. I always use RU-vid for "auto subs", download the srt, and so on. But it would be great to have more options.
Love your videos, just one question, j can't get depth map to work on my laptop it just gives ne a black screen , when Invert it just gives me a white screen, looked on blackmagic forum, loads of people are having the same problem, any thoughts please 🙏

Is there a way for Davinci to auto trim silences in audio clips? I have a series of VO clips that were recorded in DR on my timeline and each has some silence at the beginning and end. I am hoping I don't have to go through and trim all of these off individually.
I'd like to know the best way to take a 1 minute clip (sky, fire, whatever works) and loop it. Then create an 8 hour clip of it (the fastest way). Finally, good export settings for 4k RU-vid. Do you have a tutorial on that?
As a DaVinci noob, I would have appreciated a quick definition on what a "proxy" actually is, and how/why it's used, before spending a whole tip on how to automatically make them. Just sayin'
Hi Billy, thank you for making DaVinci's Resolves videos. I have a question and I would appreciate if you or anybody in this community can help me. I am having trouble running resolve smoothly. I cannot work in fusion. Every time I try it crashes my resolve and sometimes the entire system. When I am running resolve I cannot do multitasking (open multiple browsers). My PC specs are Intel Core I7 9700F, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, Nvidia 2070 super, and 750 Watt PSU.
Hey Billy, big fan and you did help me a lot thru the last two years but, since I believe you have a lot of amateurs watching your vids, that aren't ready to make the substantial money commitment of purchasing the studio version, it would be super nice to have at least a couple of free version stuff in your DVR v18 videos. I do understand that it might not good YT strategy to write in the description that all the features in the video are in the paid version but, it's kind of a turn off for free viewers like me to watch your video and then, not be able to use any of what you're showing us. Still a big fan tho 😏
