My circular saw does great at oscillation and random cuts. Getting anything parallel or square is another matter entirely.

First, I want the hat your are wearing at the end of the video. Second, I'm really hoping you can sit in this. All of the Cocktail Class Racer plans I have seen require the driver to kneel in the cockpit. This makes sense if you are a competitve CC racer since you would be easily and safely ejected in a spill. But, if you only want to use a Cocktail Class Racer for fun, then being able to sit in it is the way to go. Anyway, great video and I am anxiously looking forward to seeing the rest of build.

I'm not a professional woodworker, but at the 5 min mark on your video, you said you took a "piece of 1/4 inch and took it over to the band saw and rounded over the edge." I personally have never used a band saw to round over an edge, and it didn't look like you were using one either. In my amateur opinion, that looks like a sander. 🤪

For two cabinet-makers you "done good"! Remember to make room for the outboard's fuel tank with a floor to hold it from sliding around, and a paddle to get to shore when you run out of gas, as well room for at least one boat cushion as that almost flat bottom will slap like heck in anything less than a mirror-smooth calm. Your tush will soon tell you the value of that cushion, and don't forget a life vest and bolted-on cleats too for tying the boat to a dock/pier and fenders/bumpers too. Also I suggest fibre-glassing the complete exterior of the hull to add waterproofing and strength. My two cents.

I have been hand building wooden boats the old fashioned way for a while now. I gotta say, if you sat down and planed out a way to adapt the old man method for a modern woodshop, I can't imagine it turning out much different than what you did. The only thing that is slightly concerning is the way the transom is fastened to the chime. That is a lot of stress for those screws to handle. It might give you trouble a few months down the line

Never glue the staples first on one side and then on the other - you always work symmetrically from back to front.This prevents even the slightest twisting of the structure in one direction ... especially if you are making a very light construction. I had to learn this the hard way ... my twist was small, and in the end it is not visible, but it is enough for me to know about it😟

@Bourbon Moth Woodworking I've had a few *Fun Chi ks* back in the day. Now they weren't no *little things like your 3.6hp* No these were much bigger *Northern Fun Chick's around 16hp to 18hp* (if you know what I mean.? wink wink). But those Ole Chick's a pretty tuff and will handle.about anything you throw at 'em (what I'm trying to say son, is you can get a fair bit of rough mileage out of 'em). Oh and one more thing, that boat motor you bought on the interweb, what make is it.?? 🤣. (Please forgive my stupid-ness, I'm not even fit to be outdoor).

I love the spontaneous build action. Thanks. When are you going to get your sailing boat build on! I’m thinking a PD racer to start. Those little ducks are cute. Or a kiddie bumblebee boat for the 3 to 6 year olds in your lives. With a good pump on the back they zip along. Both those options are one or two day projects for people of your skills. Then move up to a nesting spindrift. That’s real sailing boat building there. ;-)

I was a subscriber to bespoke post for a year and a few months, I only ever got one cool thing. (A hefty bottle opener) everything else was trash. Like actual garbage. Almost like they were going to flea markets and getting military surplus supplies and filling boxes with that stuff.

When the first part of your plan is... I think we should cut out our internal ribs... My first thought is that's not a good idea, your ribs are quite important and it would stop chances of building a boat within 5 days. AND, "internal ribs" do you have external ones as well?

You are saposto use the keel as a building platform and it should be maid from hard wood not plywood. this is for strength, your rib notches should be cut to the thickness of the keel. This is the way they built boats in the 1950s.

It looks awesome. Looking forward to the next part. I agree that you should start a 5 day boat challenge. After you are done, you should race them against each other.
