I have have syrup rupture in my pack one time before. Since then, I have taken the lid off my syrup and cut a square of plastic bag and laid it on top of the syrup and screwed the lid over that plastic. Then I put it in a ziplock. Where is your fifty foot rope to hang your food bag? It may be heavy enough to make it uncomfortable to pull up with just parachute cord.
