I'm keeping my eye out for the Gen 2 NSX and see where and when it'll hit the bottom of the depreciation curve. It'll be a long while yet I'm sure, but I've got a feeling that this little gem may go the same way as the Gen 1. This is the only reason I can justify a manual V8 R8. Prices may go up in the future = win. If crap hits the fan and I have to sell it now, no money lost = win.

@@hascho4147 Yes. I'm not a fan of American cars generally but I do watch the C8 prices. It seems their rarity (in the UK) keeps them up for the moment.

Yes Stunning looking car, only thing I'm worried about is the length of the bonnet while driving. Maybe it's just me but I find it difficult to judge my front wheels on my 350Z, especially the front end swing when reversing in tighter spaces. I could imagine this would be exacerbated by the longer bonnet of the AMG GT. If driving becomes stressful due to not wanting to ding your car on super narrow English roads, it would have to be a pass. 😢

Waaaay too many factors to be able to give you even a ballpark answer. Your age, your location (crime rates), years of no claims, garaged or not, is your car an easy target (eg Land Rover) etc. etc. I'm 34 and my insurance is £600/year for my 350Z HR, and £900/year for my manual V8 R8. I know two guys who are both 23 both never claimed and have no points, one looking into getting a 987.2 Cayman with an insurance quote of £1400/year and the other guy is selling an Audi S4 as his insurance is almost £8k/year! Both are similarly priced cars at around the £15k mark, and yet so wildly different in insurance costs. You'll just have to get quotes for yourself and find out.

Probably a lot less than you think. As with the 1st reply, I can only comment on how different cars compare for me, but my insurance on my 981 Cayman S last year (in my mid 30s) was just under £400, whereas a McLaren 570S would have cost me almost exactly the same. On the other hand, an E92 M3 would have cost me £800 to insure. Price of the car has an impact, but expensive cars tend to be driven carefully and owned by people who live in safe areas. Therefore the insurance is usually actually not awful, since insurers know they rarely pay out on those cars, vs that E92 where 1 gets written off or stolen every hour (that's not a real stat, but you get the point!). Other running costs like fuel, tyres & servicing are obviously higher than normal cars too, although perhaps not always as bad as you might think. The difference in running costs of sports cars can sometimes be offset by their better depreciation vs a normal car - my Cayman certainly had a lower net cost than if I'd have spent the same money on a new diesel Golf...
