Finding the right talent, first and foremost, is key to implementing any managerial style. That's what I was constantly reminded of while watching this from personal experience.

Based from what you mentioned earlier in the video, I think that developing these 5 styles wont matter if the leader is not sensitive or observant to what leadership style is needed for 'the situation depending team or team members'. this was really great. really appreciate you for making this video. thanks

I try to be a good leader to my students by being a friendly and good person. I inspire and motivate them and try to make them feel excited about learning in general and learning English in particular.

In my view, being a mixture of all these styles, depending on various situations and tasks, is the most efficient method for a successful leader.

Great synopses! I currently have a highly diverse group of former individuals who, under the new system being implemented, are now expected to function as a team. The group is composed of various genders/orientations, ages from 20's to 70's, experience levels from new employee to tenure veterans, a multitude of personality types and they cover the spectrum on education level as well. I've been using several of these skills simultaneously, tailoring them to meet the needs of the group and individuals within the group. Things started off rough but about a month in a team has been formed and I am hearing positive feedback from the top brass about our performance, so these skills do work but it might take some time to form a cohesive unit and then maintenance to keep the group functioning well. As with anything, there are good days and bad.

One skill I use to be an effective leader is that of deliberately putting a premium on personal and team development in near equal measure. I find that this continually creates in myself and my team a mindset that epitomizes transformational leadership through synergy.

Wow! I am very happy that I came across your video. I have been in the business of grocery retail for over 30 years, and I stand on my admiration and practice of Servant Leadership, but now that I saw your explanation of each of these 5 styles, I too am favoring Transformational. Communicating the vision or goal and inspiring them to achieve the goal will have a greater result in the end. I also feel Charismatic leadership is also critical and overlaps Transformational leadership, they work hand-in-hand from my perspective. Thank you for posting!

Brian Tracy you are spot on. However ,one thing I pick out of here is that leadership style is greatly determined by the situation and environment in which the leadership is supposed to be applied. Thanks

Develop, lead, serve, and equip your team... And don't forget that the person is never bigger than the organisation, the organisation is always bigger than one person. If the person leading the organisation sees themselves as bigger than the organisation, when they are disposed it all crumbles to a halt; the other way, though, and it is simply a job of empowering your team members to lead themselves where they are better able. As a leader you hold everything together, but you never let ego rule the roost!

I am a transformational leader and fully believe in motivating people and make them feel responsible rather them penalizing them.

I am more so a Freedom/Servant leader but my actions don't quite line up. I will have to listen again to take notes and evaluate myself on how to do better and to achieve a better way of doing and being to my team.

Structural Leadership is more of Authoritative/Directive ... Freedom is more of Delegation... The Transformational Style is certainly a powerful style

I believe Transactional and transformational leadership is essential in business depending on the situation faced. Some situations can only be solved with either transformation or transactional.

Listening , communication are key skills in leadership . However, i seem to perceive that one is capable of applying all kinds of styles, dependent on the situation at hand. Trans-formative style is quite healthy and this i have experienced so far at my former place of worker-Shell Uganda Limited by my late Managing Director Mr. Ivan Kyayonka.

I have just been promoted to team leader in my company. I am going into an established well run and experienced care team, supporting individuals that have come through the criminal justice system and require support to integrate into the community and live a better quality of life. I'm 48, I have a lot of life experience and about 8yrs experience in care, 4yrs with my current employer. I am looking forward to this and appreciate these videos. Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated. By nature, I am quite laid back and relaxed, organized and positive, which I feel works well in this industry. The servant/freedom styles would seem to be a good fit for the role I am taking on. Great video.
